just so you know, I hold you personally responsible for getting me back into watches. I love your channel and what it did to my tax return for 2023. I now have a handful of lovely new watches. Thanks again and I will never forgive you.😂😂
Thank you for the list. I'm subscribed to most but there were a few I'd missed. I love wearing watches showing their age and use then wonder about their journey to me so they can live again.
Discovered this channel via the Apollo 11 video you did, which was just awesome work. Lifelong Apollo enthusiast and aerospace worker here. Then, the video you did on beginning this hobby affordably with effective tools was very impressive, as I'm new to horology and still learning everything. Throwing my hat in the ring for a beautiful piece of engineering and history! Keep up the great videos.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment! I really like the Apollo 11 version. It took a lot of time, but it was fascinating to listen to it in a way I never thought to. Best luck and hope to see you around.
Watched a handful from your list, and watched your restoration of your friend’s Speedy- such a rad restoration. Those old patina’d watches all got flavor. The inly pre-requisite is that it works which you have seen to it!
Thank you so much! I can appreciate wear and patina. I’m sure most of us have a limit to which a watch looks gone, but I feel like this one looks nice.
One channel, I came across recently is the German Watchmaking Channel - he’s pretty good. I’m subscribed to all bar one of the channels mentioned here; it seems I need to check out the Gentleman’s Watch Services.
I follow quite a few of the mentioned channels… and now I follow yours too! Really liked the vibe you transmit; very happy I stumbled upon your channel!
Chris Spinner is also a watchmaker who started as a hobbyist and became very skilled over the last 4-5 years. He does great work even going so far as making parts with the lathe and what-not. Just a shout-out
I just found your channel and am looking forward to what you do next. I think that Timex 400 is very cool. Its a little rough but very wearable. For me, it's all about the dial and the 400 has a great dial. Cheers!
Truth be told I have not heard of a good portion of the channels you mentioned, which speaks volumes about how populated the watchmaking space is here in RUclips. The act of mentioning other channels is full of respect and with that regard, your channel is worth shouting out as well. (:
Really enjoyed your video. I am also a hobbyist and I literally watch all these channels. I also enjoy the following channels “I Shoot Watches,” “Saving Time” and “Watch Nerd DK”. Congrats on surpassing 1k subscribers. Best.
Hi, Thanks. Those are good to mention! I Shoot watches has quite the recording set up. I also watch Saving Time some. I hadn’t discovered Watch Nerd DK yet! I look forward to checking it out. I appreciate the comment. Best luck and regards!
Hi, Thanks. Though I wish the underside of the case were in better condition, I think the rest of the watch looks pretty good. I’ve enjoyed it. I appreciate the comment. Best luck and regards!
Just discovered your channel and had already subscibed to your suggested channels except the German one. Will add that to the list. I hope your next 1K will progress rapidly.
@@robertevans214 It’s a bit of a leap of faith in yourself and even professionals bungle it sometimes - in any career. Believe me, I’m not fearless. Sometimes I’m definitely out of my comfort zone, but I remind myself not to take it all too seriously. After a couple of pocket watches, I pivoted to wristwatches by starting on ladies watches because they were so inexpensive.
Congratulations and thank you for the upcoming giveaway…. I actually subscribe to majority of those channels….. my first watch ever was a Timex skin diver
Thank you! I’ve had a couple of skin diver inspired Timex Electric models pass through the bench. Very cool and especially considering the price. They may not have the finest movements, but amazing in their own right.
I love watching Richard Perret watchmaker and Nekkid watchmaker and ofcourse despite just finding your channel I like your content , thank you for the giveaway!!
Wishing you well and a hearty congratulations on the growth of your channel. Its just the beginning and you will hit more milestones in the upcoming year!
to me, watches are what you make them to be. The Patina of an old watch is what gives it character. really would be nice to know some of its history and how it got to where it is. I would totally wear it, especially if I were to win it from your giveaway. That would make for a great story. Thanks again for all your content.
Hey Matthew, love your down to earth tone and as a novice to the hobby; it looks like I can learn so so much from you. Looking forward to more content on the channel!
Huge Timex fan. Great timepieces for the price, and not to mention their Ironman line carries some of the best digital watches ever designed (the modern 30 lap triathlon from the 2000s is by far the most useful watch ever made in my eyes). What's not to like?
Hello Mattthew. Good to see the face behind the subscription. All of the sites you mention are on my own favourites. As a result of watching and gaining information, my own skills have progressed to allow me to be confident enough to attempt any watch except chronographs. I do speak to many of the site producers for extra help. All are friendly and sociable. Good bunch of people are watchmakers. Only extra I would add is a forum. Watch Repair Talk is free and is run by Mark Lovick for the benefit of all. Thank you for your help and assistance to us followers. Watches comment? As @sivanstar said in his comment 'history on your wrist'.
Hello Matthew, thank for your channel, and congratulations on crossing 1000 subs. I appreciate your list and there were a bunch of channels that I've never watched yet. I went through my list of subbed channels to see if I have any that you didn't mention and found these: Bunnspecial DeanDK - channel is dormant now, but he was documenting his journey through being a self taught watchmaker and making his own watch from scratch. Great explanations and demonstration. JDRichard - watch repair and some other topics Reinis Strieneks - engraving, including watch cases
Nothing wrong with a vintage watch that has patina, if an old watch case is total restored imo it looses its character and some of the interest that makes it vintage. I watch most of the channels mentioned and all have been a huge help to me servicing old watches.
Hello, congratulations to the 1000 subscribers! Is the giveaway just limited to the US or also avaliable to other countries? Oh and because you mentioned "Uhren Dantler" Uhren means watch and Dantler is propably his last name. I would personally leave the patina original.
I have watched many videos from the channels you talked about and they are all really good. I am, however, ashamed to admit that I am not subscribed to a lot of them. And, for what its worth, you did a great job in front of the camera. 🗣 🎥
To be honest I think you are downplaying yourself by saying you aren't a gifted speaker. Your voice is calm, and your tone of delivery is very soothing to the ears. I'm glad I found your channel!
Thank you for the tips. Most channels I knew already but always good to get to know more. Favorite ones? Hm. Tricky. I think it’s Marshall and then Kalle and then The Watch Tutorial Channel. But it changes over time. Cool Timex. I‘d like to have it. 🕐⚙️🍸

Hi, there. It’s not a race and slow can be an advantage. Those are cool watches and it sounds like you really like them which is most important. Most of my watches are on the affordable end. I think the more affordable they are the more I tend to like appreciate them!
He does! Marshal has a way of transmitting his enthusiasm that’s very infectious. I can’t watch him before bed though because it makes me want to start another watch!
Congratulations on your first big milestone! Mike from my retro watches us my favourite. A bit of an issue with these sort of videos is that they are long and too many of them don't reserve enough time to show off the final result. A minute or two of video talking about the watch and showing it with different straps and on the wrist and outside in natural light would be a good culmination of a restoration type of video.
