i don't get why people don't like twin lock. If you don't like it, u can choose not to use it, but personally i like and use 33% lock very often when climbing, and full in cities. I found it as nice option. I have patron 920 since one month and i love this bike, it give me so much joy from riding that i didn't have since high school and i am now 31.
I have the patron 900. I love it. I call it my tank. I have pulled myself through the deepest of muds without any issues. I even use it to commute to work.
I an new in MTB at over 60 and i ride 920 Patron. Not even a month and already passed 150 km of trail riding on it. I think Scott never intended making a enduro bike with it, neither a soft trail bike, but rather a Go anywhere you want with it. Glad you reffered to it as Batman because I also own a MT-10 and it is a Dark side symbol as well.
I love your reviews. Wondering if y'all can add just a general trail riding review for more "trail" category bikes like this one and the Marin Rift Zone. On paper these two bikes look perfect for someone like myself. I'm a XC rider that does all day rides with climbing, singletrack and road on most of my routes. Most of your reviews are more on the downhill, Enduro and bike park type of riding it seems. In looking for an E for my "recovery" days but I'd like something that has a little more travel than my daily 120mm bike.
Thank you! We always try to offer useful insight to any level of rider, so we do our best to skip the jargon and focus on the actions and behaviors of the bike. Glad you enjoyed it.
I have a 900 Patron ultimate and it’s a beast. Much lighter than the other models and with much better equipment. Excellent climber and very effective on enduro tracks as well. It’s not a 100% gravity bike, more like a do it all bike. It’s my fifth e bike and I love it.
Nice! Yeah the Patron is on my short list. I've ridden a Scott Spark for the past 10+ years and it's my go to bike. I'm considering an E for my "rest" days but I kinda want something with a little more travel and a little more capable than my Spark but can still pedal all day on my long weekend rides On paper the Patron seems to check all the boxes for me.
I really like the SCOTT ebikes how they look - are there any that support up to 28MPH from SCOTT - i'm having trouble finding one and keep narrowing down to the Specialized Tero/Levos
Where I'm from there are only 3 brands that have local dealer support if needed. Scott, Pivot, and Giant. Would the Patron be in the same or similar class as a Pivot Shuttle AM?
No bike is for everyone of course, but this one sounds like it's for me. I'm an older adventure dude who dials it down a lot now but still likes a bike that feels like a sports car but also can be plush and can also be stiffer and efficient on the climbs. Twin lock does all that for me.
Cool bike. Still hard to get in the US. My local dealer (Keswick Cycles Glenside) carries Scott surprisingly, but no full sus. The value seems less good than previous.
All three of those are solid options and depending on where we lived, and what trails we were riding, we'd pick either one and be stoked. We'd say drive unit, spec, value and reliability would come to play next as well as dealer support, and finally (but maybe most important!) what suspension platform and geo do YOU get a long with best.
@MMAh0ckey yes I did. I ended up using cling wrap and tape for very wet or dusty days. I sold bike due to very low bottom bracket and I couldn't get the rear to feel endless like previous bikes.
The main reason I only buy scott is precisely because of the twinlock system... i couldn't do without it anymore. Even if you are not a fan of it...one lever is not in the way,is it?
If you’re willing to make regular use of the TwinLoc then its certainly a useful system. However, we’d prefer increased suspension adjustability and improved simplicity overall.
@@TheLoamWolf i will probably ride on different courses than you guys.. if the underground changes a lot it can save much energy with the twinlock system. When its "down hill " i open everything with a simple push... of course if you need a bike for crazy downhill than is this model with the type of suspension travel to limited..the same with the geometry ... long story short...you guys are right except for the twinlock 😋😋 keep up the good work 👏 👍
@@jogyselinck535 I agree with you here. I absolutely love the twinlock for all around mountain biking here in the PNW. Once you have it, you cannot live without it basically. I tell my friends, remember when touchscreens were new and everyone was saying it’s not needed. Nowadays, it’s practically a must. You really don’t know what you’re missing once you start getting comfortable with it and then it’s second nature and such a companion on long rides. However, I have a Bullit as my e-bike for the gnarly DH stuff. 🤭 I can tell you that none of the bikes in this year’s review touch it, absolutely killer bike!

I placed an X2 with a climb switch and left the performance fork to adjust the stiffness, and voila, she’s a wonderful commuter bike. All trails, all day, the EP8 let’s me tune my levels, so I use the setting depending on my needs. For commuting, set max on boost 95%, for Trail 70%, for ECO 20%, I challenge the ECO to compensate for the full weight of bike, not rider… bike is 48lbs, I’m 200lbs, so roughly 250, so 20% is the bike weight. Are you guys going to review the Pole Voima?? I thought you were going to a long time ago. I’m looking to buy one soon, and deciding between it and the new Canyon Strive: ON. Thanks!
The Voima is in the editing queue. Shouldn't be too much longer, couple weeks maybe. Strive:On is a different story, we're gonna reach out to try and get one soon.
@@TheLoamWolf Nice 👍 Thanks for the update. If you can’t even get the Strive:ON that makes me feel better about not being able to buy one. I guess there is a reason, but weird to me.
Wow, it's almost like having the shock outside the bike so you can fit a different shock is a good idea! Can't believe bike companies haven't thought of that yet!
@@TheLoamWolf better than nothing I guess, I doubt an x2 or any coil would fit. All this integration bike companies are pushing with headset routing and now internal shocks is just unnecessary and quite annoying

I think SuperTrail has been a category for years with people upping their fork travel to 160mm. The geo makes the trailbike not the amount of travel. I would not go for enduro geo, but I would also not settle for less than 160mm travel 😀
While that would make it better for aggressive descending, the Patron geometry makes for a comfortable and very capable climbing machine, better in keeping with its trail intentions
Imho this is a bike aimed at non mountainbikers. Crazy looks, lots of levers to play with, long travel and a conservative geo. Most Patrons will be ridden in cities, on gravel roads and light trails. But Scott being Scott still managed to make it a decent mtb as well.
