THe only reason i bought a razer laptop is because it was on a very lower price, something like 1900$ instead of the '2300$ + taxes and shipping". otherwise, the design would probably make a compelling choice for me but it doesn't beat the high price.
All the people that say "I have no idea who this product is for" have NO idea how big the market is. This is a dream laptop, which is expensive, but there are people who can afford it and want the best. It's almost like our society relies on our computers and investing in a decent one is pretty normal. Edit: I own a late 2019 rbs, and hate the change to the shift key layout that you're praising. Thanks to all the influencers that got them to change it for their needs but have no idea who the laptop is for.
There is another niche this fit into: People who want to game on a laptop while actually using it on their lap. It's genuinely surprising how hard it is these days to find a laptop that can play games but won't give you third degree burns if you try to play them while sitting on the couch/floor/bed. Most gaming capable laptops these days are designed for max performance and so work great as PC replacements that only ever move from desk to desk, but if you already have a PC and just want a machine for pop up LAN parties (and regular laptop use) there's only a handful of machines on the market.
Should I pickup this 13 inch for 4-6k raw editing? Or do I have to go for the 15 inch for editing when I’m on the go? Great review brotha! Waiting for Razer to send my review model😎
It is even for Massimo, an hardcore gamer who likes to play AAA game on his 32" 4k using his Razer Core X equipped with an Rtx 2070 super (something impossible to do with AMD at the moment), and use the same laptop during day maybe at work, or traveling by train and so on. Someone who stays far from home during the week and who likes to play game in hotel room to relax, or be able to continue his 3D projects during his vacation. Unfortunately I can't buy it in Italy, (I bought an MSI prestige 14). I m waiting my next trip to US to buy it.
There is another niche... the traveling engineer who is also a gamer, with a company laptop blocked to install games, who doesn’t want to travel with 2 15” laptop everywhere
I'm a right shifter, but I'd take that short shift key over half size up/down arrow keys. It doesn't take long to adapt as my Logitech K400R also has that layout. But when you have half size up/down key, it's harder to train my muscle memory and I keep pressing shift whenever I want to press up. For someone who types and checks for text a lot, moving from one line to another one by one, it's crucial. So, Razer is out of my list starting now, while Lenovo gaming lineup surprisingly returns as they realize that importance.
This laptop costs the same as the 2020 Macbook Pro 13 10th-Gen while packing significant better hardware and matching or exceeding its build quality, that alone is a better value proposition than the 2020 Macbook Pro 13-inch. You can do literally everything you can do with the Mac while having better graphics performance in every regard. I do not think its target market is a 'niche' as you make it out to be.
I'm a gamer (not competitive/pro) and a notary with 2 pc at home with 9600k-2080 and 3600x-5700xt. Sometimes my job require to travel and want spend my free/wating time gaming on a small laptop. This 13 inch razer blade stealth is for me
Unfortunately theirs more than just a resolution difference between the HD and 4K displays. 4K screen is glossy and some people prefer glossy over matte. Many HD monitors are actually 6 bit while many 4K monitors are 8 bit. I personally don’t care for touch screen on a laptop that isn’t a flip but for some people, they’ll prefer having a touch screen on this. With that said, you’re definitely paying a premium for the 4K version.
Im constantly hearing complaints from youtubers about the right shift key being too small, yet Ive never met a single person who uses it (both win/mac)... being from Europe, we value more num pad, because of the number row is usually being used for symbols for people who use English only as their second language. so we need something else purely for numbers... just my pov ^^ great vid as usual
am using the late 2019 model. looking at the new one bc of the fixes: shift key, and screen refresh (120hz). but i guess i am also niche, bc i want this for its power, yet still allows me to use USB-c charging only. so i only carry around a (quite strong yet versatile) single power brick to charge everything. including my mirrorless camera, and every accessory for both. allows me to do all photography work on the go, as well as gaming, and plug it in at home to my external screen (also via USB-C) with a single cable. if this had a Ryzen... well, lets look to maybe upgrade with next years model then :D
On top of the new fixes you mentioned, the processor runs at 25w now whereas they limited it to 15w on the 2019 model, which gives it a significant performance boost. I agree though, Ryzen would make this the perfect ultrabook!
How do you think the screen colors are? I was looking for something with high colore range for photography, like a 100%srgb at least. This 2020 model seems ok but it's 96% if i don't get It wrong
Least the battery life isn't bad on it at full refresh rate, but you do have a good point to mention - it's like what a few other RUclipsrs have said too: If the Stealth had an AMD Ryzen Processor, it would absolutely destroy everything else. I must say that I'm neither of those niches and this was the first laptop that seemed to be exactly what I wanted. I don't bother with modern games with very few exceptions, instead I like MAME, pc engine, or ps1 games emulated. While I might want to try out Doom Eternal or Metro Exodus, I'm much more interested in catching up on older games that passed me by like MGS V or FF10/12 remastered/13. I value something small enough that it won't weigh me down if I want to play in bed, will fit easily and with a lightweight should I wish to take it somewhere, but mostly just takes up very little space wherever I need it. Also, I happen to specifically want an OLED laptop, as I've grown accustomed to playing ps vita and have become an OLED elitist. That, and the fact that my other gaming laptop is/was an Alienware M11x R2, which lasted me 12 years of normal non-gaming use and gaming for the only games that mattered, with the exceptions as noted above that passed me by. So, I'm used to and only really care for a very small laptop that meets what I want out of it. Money isn't much of an issue.

I was looking at this to use it as a College/ Gaming laptop. Use it for school when i’m there of course, and game on it when i’m home. Would this be a great pickup? Or is there other alternatives ?
Since i bought the late 2019 model few months back, the biggest regret that i have for not waiting just a bit longer for this upgrade is the 120hz screen. The ghosting on the late 2019 is so bad that i just can't game on it without the external monitor.
I had the 2019 1650 and liked it. I had 2 problems with it - that crazy damn shift key, and I wanted a faster screen. They fixed both, so I have upgraded and don't regret it. Now I have a 2019 to put up for sale....... Should I have waited for late 2020 or early 2021 when they (hopefully) put AMD in this thing? Probably. Will I want that one when it comes out? Definitely. Will I watch your videos and lust over everything you review? Of course!
What’s the battery life like? I’m planning to buy as my main laptop for work and OCCASIONAL gaming, so you wouldn’t expect me to push this laptop to its max performance. That being said, would the battery last and overall longevity last?
How is the battery for this compared to something like the Surface Laptop or MBP 13? I've been hating my Lenovo 730 15" as a student with 3 hours of active battery life. I can't live like this!
Was on the fence deciding between this and the razer blade 15. After watching this video I went with the 13. Had it for about 2 days and I’m loving it. Perfect size to carry around school and just enough power for my engineering software. Don’t really plan on gaming oh and on sale too!!!

Is the 2020 stealth 13 for me? I play Valorant. I play at 144hz. Performance matters to me and I play competitive games very seriously. I already own a mid-high end gaming desktop and a 144hz monitor already. I am looking for a laptop that I can use to continue gaming when I am out, and also do other pc related tasks that I often find myself doing daily such as reading manga, watching anime, photo editing in PS and lightroom. as I said, I already have my primary gaming station, as such I do not need to buy a big and heavy do it all gaming laptop. Something compact and light, yet competent is what I am looking for. I would also like to note that a while back I did own a blade 15 for about a week, but I ended up returning to use the money on upgrading my peripherals and some pc components. So I know I don't really want the blade 15 again. In my case is the stealth 13 worth it? or am I better off spending the extra few hundred for the new 14" ROG zephyrus G14 laptop?
I have this laptop, and I fit in a pretty niche market. I need a well built 13 inch that will be for engineering purposes, run older games/less demanding modern ones and I need a high refresh rate panel because I'm used to it. On paper its not worth the price, but there really is nothing else like it and I think its perfect. The zephyrus is the only other option, but they have terrible QA and feel like plastic rubbish.
Lol it’s obviously a first world problem but it really can be annoying. I have the one with the small shift key, and it’s not just the size, it’s that there’s an arrow key where youd usually get the shift key. So when I’m typing, sometimes I hit the up arrow when I’m trying to capitalize a letter. Or I’ll be trying to type a question mark, and my entire life, the question mark was right next to the shift key. But now the up arrow is there instead, so I end up highlighting the entire line The good news is that I got over these issues quickly. And I got it on an insane deal, I got really lucky
I received my razer blade 15 4k oled rtx 2070 max q silver on 2020 June for like 3k bucks. With excitement I opened the package and the first impression on its aluminum surface finish is not pleasant by comparison to the macbook I owned years ago. At that moment I started to fell hesitate to justify my purchases is whether a good one. Then I plugged the cable with awkward looking adapter to the laptop. And it did not light up! After investigation I noticed the cable to the adapter is probably loosely connected despite all the way in. So I gave it little more push to the adapter and it worked . At this moment I thought it is perhaps an engineering flaws? So the laptop worked fine until now. After just one month of usage, The adapter died yesterday. Sigh, after years of using different laptops, this is the first time ever of having power adapter issue on laptop. The last time I had a problem with adapter is losing one accidentally on my lenovo. Now I am sill waiting inline for their customer support to pick up my call, I do not even know if they would pick up my call today, because it already is like 30 minutes waiting. I do not know if they can ship me another adapter or there would be another tech issue happening in the recent future. My conclusion is that I may not going to buy anything from razer again. Everything I purchased from them are all kinda wibbly wobbly.
I don't care much about AMD variant. I won't be compressing files and needlessly running Cinebench. I care more about low DPC latency, proper usb controller, Thunderbolt and a hardware 265x codec.
You're absolutely right on all fronts except in one way, a hardcore gamer might be (and is in my case) okay with this laptop, for one I waited until a discount happened, and got it for 1500 instead of 1800, second, I don't want to carry a heavy laptop around just so I can game and I don't want to buy 2 devices to carry aorund either, so I keep an eGPU at home for much better performance, and I carry around this laptop for lighter gaming on the go, and for proffesional work. The thing is the laptop looks very professional too which is a huge plus, I can be in a boardroom and no one would bat an eye with this laptop (though mine has FULL of anime stickers, but then I do work in an industry where even tattoos are fine and no one cares)
Isnt the G14 similar specs, thin and light, dedicated GPU like...half the price of this thing? Is that 1" more screen real estate really worth $1k more?
I game primarily on a desktop build but I'd like something small to carry between school and friends that could also game. Would this be recommended for what I want?
I do like your review Mathew and agree with your point about the niche market Razer seems to be targeting. But what I *don't* like is gaming laptops competing hard to be business class/ultra portables and losing its *gaming edge*. IMO this is where the focus gets lost.

I was looking at this to use it as a College/ Gaming laptop. Use it for school when i’m there of course, and game on it when i’m home. Would this be a great pickup? Or is there other alternatives ?
I'd suggest the Asus G14, i'ts a 14' with an 8-core 4900HS and RTX 2060 max-q. I think it's the best balance of portability and performance
Lol the 1.8 kidneys at 0:09 made me subscribe immediately
MSI, are you listening? Improve your cooling and you have 13" and 14" models that could compete with this thing!

@@rampagemango3823 5-7 hours depending on what you’re doing. Could definitely last you an entire work day if all you’re doing is working on tasks that wont push performance
Have either of you used it for photo and video editing?
Hiya, I'm a novice when it comes on to Laptops. But I do need a laptop that's excellent for editing! Would this be a good option? I'm looking to upgrade & want to get a new laptop but don't know where to look or what to buy 😭😭 (I've watched so many videos & I'm still confused)
Thanks in advance for your help & great video 👍🏾
Love your videos man!
Thanks Jose!
"Basket weaving cuz I do that on the side"
Weird flex but okay ;)
Thanks for that I really needed that video! Dropped a like keep it up!
Thanks man!
Great video Matt
Wanted a recommendation for a external hard drive
We all dream of this laptop with an AMD 4000 cpu.
Hi Matt, you forgot the mozzila firefox build benchmark. The one macbook pro is excellent in. Very important thing for Ann!
MacBook Pro won the Mozilla test
@@MatthewMoniz how many minutes difference? Is it close to Surface Laptop or close to MBP?
Should I get the this laptop for a bit of gaming and studying
what's your take on the comparison of Razer Blade Stealth to the Zepghyrus G14?
I have this laptop, and I fit in a pretty niche market. I need a well built 13 inch that will be for engineering purposes, run older games/less demanding modern ones and I need a high refresh rate panel because I'm used to it. On paper its not worth the price, but there really is nothing else like it and I think its perfect. The zephyrus is the only other option, but they have terrible QA and feel like plastic rubbish.
It would be perfect if they went back to 2016 and put a touchscreen in the NON-4k model.
I have the exact laptop. Did you say you can swap out for a bigger storage??
So i can sell 1.8 parts of my kidneys to buy this laptop.

First world problem: The right shift key isn't the size I'm used to.
But now the up arrow is there instead, so I end up highlighting the entire line
The good news is that I got over these issues quickly. And I got it on an insane deal, I got really lucky
Nice video man👍 got a good couple of laughs
Thanks man !
I received my razer blade 15 4k oled rtx 2070 max q silver
on 2020 June for like 3k bucks. With excitement I opened the package and the
first impression on its aluminum surface finish is not pleasant by comparison
to the macbook I owned years ago. At that moment I started to fell hesitate to
justify my purchases is whether a good one. Then I plugged the cable with
awkward looking adapter to the laptop. And it did not light up! After
investigation I noticed the cable to the adapter is probably loosely connected
despite all the way in. So I gave it little more push to the adapter and it
worked . At this moment I thought it is perhaps an
engineering flaws? So the laptop worked fine until now.
After just one month of usage, The adapter died yesterday.
Sigh, after years of using different laptops, this is the first time ever of
having power adapter issue on laptop. The last time I had a problem with
adapter is losing one accidentally on my lenovo. Now I am sill waiting inline
for their customer support to pick up my call, I do not even know if they would
pick up my call today, because it already is like 30 minutes waiting.
I do not know if they can ship me another adapter or there
would be another tech issue happening in the recent future. My conclusion is
that I may not going to buy anything from razer again. Everything I purchased
from them are all kinda wibbly wobbly.
I don't care much about AMD variant. I won't be compressing files and needlessly running Cinebench. I care more about low DPC latency, proper usb controller, Thunderbolt and a hardware 265x codec.
how would this compare to the Surface Book considering they both work well for creatives, are relatively small and are almost similarly speced?

G14 is horseshit. Unfortunately if you want a laptop with good performance you can’t go smaller than 15.6”
I want a 13 inch, light weight, thin pc that I can edit videos on, what do you recommend?
I game primarily on a desktop build but I'd like something small to carry between school and friends that could also game. Would this be recommended for what I want?
Ya this or I'd personally go with the Zephyrus G14
So amazing quality!
people and me personally are are buying the 4k for the touch... as even the 15 is not selling touch anymore (in eu at least)
You had me with the basket weaving!
this is perfect for music producers. I wish I saved up and bought this instead.
Hi!) Will there be a Zephyrus G14 review or a review-comparison to Razer Blade Stealth 13?
I do like your review Mathew and agree with your point about the niche market Razer seems to be targeting. But what I *don't* like is gaming laptops competing hard to be business class/ultra portables and losing its *gaming edge*. IMO this is where the focus gets lost.
