Those were the days. I would visit my first year classmate's home and wondered when the hell would be my turn to play. Luckely, 5 years later I was able to watch other kids play super mario land on a gameboy. Ah, good memories.
Awesome! But happened at 09:11? The log passed through the player sprite without collision detection? And these slide jumps at 10:39? Anyway, I never even knew that you could run (from right to) left in this game! XD
That "slide" happens if you runt into a log. The log doesn't kill you, it just holds you up. If the log is not moving it won't even hold you up, but you will lose points. What you see on 09:11 is what happens if you got hit by a rolling log. Just turn on the sound and you'll notice. ;) Concering running from right to left: Even the programmer suggested to do so, because you have 2 advantages: You are running with the logs. And if you die, you'll start from the left side on the screen. I had to use this as trick for saving time - and like you see, I needed these seconds! :) But yes, interesting that you don't think about running from right to the left. I wouldn't have thought so, if I wasn't told so in the internet. :-D You'll find the map at pitfallharry.tripod.com/MapRoom/PitfallMap.html If I counted right, you'd have at least one screen less if you run left.

This game is fascinating. I played it maybe a few times as a kid, and even now I never got it, but it is still an incredible classic.
Memories come flooding back
Werde ich mein Leben lang nicht vergessen.

all this work just to have the name of Crane displayed at the end.....pffff
I hated that game. Now I see why. All that jumping shit for nothing.
