    Great video! 👏 I’ve watched several “best of C64 games” videos lately and this is the best one. You had so many favorites: Jumpman, M.U.L.E., Law of the West, Forbidden Forest, Beachhead, and too many others to mention. And I was especially happy to see my all-time favorite, Impossible Mission, on your list. The only one from my top ten that you didn’t have is Rescue on Fractalus. I just about jumped out of my skin when the alien appeared the first time. 😂
    I also enjoyed seeing Lemmings and Shoot Em Up Construction Kit for the C64 since I had both for the Amiga but had never seen the C64 versions before.
    Anyway, I bought my C64 way back in 1983 and I’ve own many others since but none had as a big influence on my life as the C64.

    For me the best C-64 game by far was M.U.L.E. played in the "Expert mode". It had so much dependencies, the game is an exercise in supply and demand economics involving competition between up to four players (2 Joysticks / 2 keyboard). If you played with less players you got computer opponents. See the Wikipedia article for more details.
    P.S.: I caught the mountain swampus 😃

    • @Retro_B8
      @Retro_B8  10 месяцев назад +1

      MULE was like nothing I’d played before, I was too to young to really understand it at first but a few years later when playing with friends it really was a class game to play, I couldn’t imagine playing on expert mode though!!

    • @Floridaadler
      @Floridaadler 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@Retro_B8 Expert mode just had the additional feature that the store ran out of stock and so the prices increased for every rare resource up to maximal amounts. E.g. if energy ran out of stock the store offered e.g. 100 credits, but the players with demand could bid higher (running up), while the supplying player could wait and sell short before time ran out. This meant that the wealth of players could increase making the entire game wealthier. I loved it...

I fast fowarded to the top 20 and realised that this was an American orientated list, ignoring the output of the superior UK Software houses. In the 80s, Ultimate, Melbourne House, System 3, Gremlin Graphics, Ocean, Odin, Mastertronic etc churned out so many amazing games that put the US Software to shame. Maniac Mansion, Ultima series ARE excellent, but you should have concentrated on games that really shone on the C64 and were written specifically to take advanatge of its capabilities.
