Such an amazing song. it's sung so perfectly it takes full control of my soul and hits me so deeply in my heart and mind. It takes me away mentally and gives me a break from life. Thank you
I found this song at the beginning of this year in January. Everything about it was... how can I say this... just so in my blood. The wholly melancholy, yet, hopeful embodiment. Awareness of ones own wolves but still patiently pushing forward. The wounds that I or someone else unknowingly pick at everyday. All done in this deep helplessness and still looking up. Little did we know it would be one of the shittiest years known to man but I still consider it a Win given that I found this song. Thank you Phosphorescent.
@@shizaya3284 Yeah, i think just about wrestling with your inner demons. We all have them and we all struggle with our minds but they're also beautiful and powerful. Such a beautiful song.
Seen them live a couple of times now. Every time they play this song live it makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. It's almost as if this song makes you appreciate sadness.
Mama there's wolves in the house Mama they won't let me out Mama they're mating at night Mama they wont make nice They're pacing and glowing bright Their faces all snowy and white Bury their paws in the stone Make for my heart as their home They tumble and fight And they're beautiful On the hilltops at night They are beautiful Blazing with light Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one She's muscled and fine When she runs They're tearing up holes in the house They're tearing their claws in the ground They're staring with blood in their mouths Mama they won't let me out They tumble and fight And they're beautiful On the hilltops at night They are beautiful Blazing with light Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one All muscled and fine When she runs Mama there's wolves in the house Mama i tried to put them out And mama i know you're too wise To wait till those wolves make nice
Reminds me of a story I heard on a pod cast about wolves coming back after being protected and park rangers started to follow and study them. There was an Alpha female wolf that lead a pack and was much larger then the other wolves.. She managed to dodge and evade the park rangers from tranquillizing her and tagging her.. for a few years she started to become a local legend. One year she didn’t bother to hide or run from the ranger and the ranger tagged her.. she took her pack out of the protected lands and was shot and killed shortly after being tagged. The ranger who told the story seemed to get teary eyed talking about her.
+Amos Theodorsson the part where he says: blazing with light, is the whitest and tallest and 'the biggest' one. That is the lyric in his recording but here he changed it to 'the meanest' one!! 0__0
I do really like Phosphoroscent and I totally love this song. Lyrics and music both are passionately played. BUT sadly not in this live performance. In my opinion it has a lack of passion, sadness and just emotions here, which are shown in the studio version. I came here for a passionate live performance and I'm disappointed. I know it's hard to always recall this deep emotions he felt when he wrote it, I'm musician myself.
Such an amazing song. it's sung so perfectly it takes full control of my soul and hits me so deeply in my heart and mind. It takes me away mentally and gives me a break from life. Thank you
His voice is like magic.
Margin Call brought me here ... beautiful song !

I'm late to the party. What's the meaning behind this song?
@@CintiaVsTia i think depression or anxiety

@@CintiaVsTia I dont actually know but read it as a song about addiction

Mama there's wolves in the house
Mama they won't let me out
Mama they're mating at night
Mama they wont make nice
They're pacing and glowing bright
Their faces all snowy and white
Bury their paws in the stone
Make for my heart as their home
They tumble and fight
And they're beautiful
On the hilltops at night
They are beautiful
Blazing with light
Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one
She's muscled and fine
When she runs
They're tearing up holes in the house
They're tearing their claws in the ground
They're staring with blood in their mouths
Mama they won't let me out
They tumble and fight
And they're beautiful
On the hilltops at night
They are beautiful
Blazing with light
Is the whitest and the tallest and the biggest one
All muscled and fine
When she runs
Mama there's wolves in the house
Mama i tried to put them out
And mama i know you're too wise
To wait till those wolves make nice
Genius music

FUCK I LOVE HIM
This song was on the mayans TV show!
He is singing about loving dangerously.
@veggigirl1 Cuz' they're awesome!
This song is so perfect and so haunting I realised my cats was dead when this song came on on Spotify.
@Nicholas Bell lol
Hotel internet only buffered the first 13 seconds. I will wait all night for the rest of it if I have to..
I would love to join his one man wolfpack.
does anybody which chords and which tuning he is using?
tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/phosphorescent/wolves_chords_699897 Transpose it -6
@dasbakon Is it a Chet Atkins model?
What guitar is he playing?
Mayans mc brought me here. Great song
Awesome song. Though i dont know why theres wolves in the house?

I want to marry Matthew Houck FOREVER!!!
Completely random topic for a song (this is a good thing!), but the lyrics are beautiful.
WOW 0_________0 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He just changed the lyrics! 03:10 So much more insight now..
+Altaïr Assasino He did?
+Amos Theodorsson the part where he says: blazing with light, is the whitest and tallest and 'the biggest' one. That is the lyric in his recording but here he changed it to 'the meanest' one!! 0__0
Gerard Wolswinkel When I first heard this version it made the song even more beautiful, nuanced, and personal to me. All from changing one word.
Why are there so many songs about wolves?? Three of my favourite bands have songs about wolves. It's strange.
Let me guess... Phosphorescent, Bon Iver and Ben Howard?
Voice reminds my of "Marcy Playground"
Margin Call 2011
Ronnie
Margin Call
Can I give a thousand likes?
the album version is better in my opinion but this is still amazing
come on now, the wolves are a "metaphor," and the listener can make of that what he/she will. one great great song
A song about talking to mama about raising a family and the wife?
It's a Gibson
aghhh whts the meaning in the lyrics
Almost sounds like Adam Duritz. It also sounds like someone else I know of too and can't think of his name....
Neil Young

wolves.
I wonder what this song is really about.
they're staring with blood in their mouths...
Good but not even close to 'a song for Zula'.
This band should be much bigger than they are brilliant vocalist
