Unboxing after 11 years! Kre-O Transformers Optimus Prime detailed review

- I'm sure you saw the LEGO Transformers Optimus Prime release recently, but did you know that Hasbro already made an Optimus 11 years ago? This is the Kre-O version, we will open a sealed set and build it!
I remember this very set, this is pure nostalgia for me. Especially that mini-fig optimus.
On point review. Though the robot mode hasn't at all aged well, is super flimsy Hasbro still did a pretty admirable job with the truck mode. Only issue I really had with it was it was too short to look anything near realistic as it would have to be about twice as long IRL. Nice mention of the KreO's. Though I don't have much left of my KreO collection I kept these, and display them on a moc stand. They made fun little representations, each with it's own molded blaster or weapon.
Honestly, I still buy Kre-O to this day. Hasbro made a huge mistake discontinuing it, they could make it way better now (IN MY OPINION)
I remember having this set, this brings back nostalgia
I had a few of the Kre-o sets. Managed to make Starscream's robotmode look closer to his G1 look. The baljoints on my Optimus started to loose friction after a while and the robot mode ended up unable to stand. Kre-o was the second attempt by Hasbro to get into brick based toys. Build to Rule was the first. Glad you didn't dig those up. And the last attempt by Hasbro to compete with Lego over buildable figures was their build a bot line. Bionicle/Hero Factory inspired toys that all shared the same basic frame and transformation with the add-on pieces that formed the vehicle
Wow, checked now those Build to Rule sets, those are super weird!
@@RBsGadgetReviews yes those were weird and ugly. They were based upon the Armada toyline mostly. The minicons were ok.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Man that brings back good old days
I remember having starsceam from the kreo when I was abit younger I loved taking it apart and swaping between jet and robot ❤
Very detailed review. Kreo was my childhood. I always wanted the Optimus Prime set, but now that I have the lego optimus prime, I don't feel I need it anymore. I'll still probably get it for nostalgia. I really hope lego can do another collab and make a lego bumblebee or megatron.
I have this when I was a kid. I have the ambulance and the optimus prime
I remember when I bought the some of the sets miss those days
This is actually a set I had when I was a kid!
I had the Bumblebee set from the early waves of kreo. It's was fun and some kreo sets are actually really cool. Kreons are pretty nice too, they made tons of kreons for Transformers characters. Lego is still king tho.
I had that set! it was great!
Dude I remember trying to figure out how to build this and I was like 5 or something
I had the Bumblebee one. Only built the Robot and vehicle mode once and then kept it that way, never touched it again.
Pretty sure I might’ve given the set away or gradually threw the pieces away after it mixed with my collection cuz I really didn’t like any brand of bricks that wasn’t Lego. Still don’t actually…
I had this set but I wasn't smart enough to build it so I just didn't actually build it and played with the little figures
I really want kre-o to come back
Bro I got this when I was 7. It was too complex for me. Hopefully I still have all the pieces to make it.
Hi i wonder if u could make review of some cobi 1:12 scale cars (Cobi is good polish company and they have some big cars in their offer - like opel manta or trabant
bro I remember these I had so many mini figs
Oh no the resale value!
Jk
But I did have some kreo growing up, they aight. I especially liked the figures.
resale value, lol, been out for 11 years and you can buy it brand new off ebay for retail price.
I bought several of these sets when they came out, I wouldn't call them super popular as I had picked up all of the ones I bought on clearance for a pittance. I built the Ratchet set, didn't like the build, or the fact you had to rebuild it into its other mode. I hung onto them for years hoping for them to increase in value. They didn't, and I sold them for about what I paid for them. I was not impressed.
“Kre-O” is a collaboration between Korean toy company “Oxford” and Hasbro that still produce their brick build sets.
Also, this is not the 1st time Hasbro produced brick built themed sets based on their brands. They started with Built to Rule in 2001.
BTR was 2003 actually
1000th like 👍
I used to have this set I think I was just so litte I never kept it
I still have star scream and Optimus but they are all dusty
I have it too
i have the bumblebee one lmao
Will there be a chance that you will do the remaining characters?😅
I don't think so, this experience was enough :D
Heres a lego transformer you might appreciate ruclips.net/video/IGpj_9CqV8w/видео.html & heres building instruction for that lego transformer ruclips.net/video/KrCFfy0h8qM/видео.html .
Kre-o is a licensed copy of Lego!
What is your favorit Lego like brand that isnt Lego
So you would like to know what is my second favorite building block toy brand :) Based on my experience so far I think it is CaDA
@@RBsGadgetReviews will you ever review the CaDA power system i heard it was ok they even have a controller for the CaDA power brick
How can i buy this set now? Can you sell it?
I suggest to check it on E-bay, just like I did.
@@RBsGadgetReviews Is it possible to arrange delivery on ebay not in the US, to another country?
@@EgoRus26 it depends on the seller, but totally. I'm in Europe and bought this set from the US.
Actually the head is better than e Lego one.
Hi and 1st
Theres even sentinel prime so can you review that
I'm not really into the movie characters
@@RBsGadgetReviews i have it the alt mode looks good
Kre-O 👏👍🙏👍👍
"Kre-o as a brand was not really popular in this part of Europe. I think it was way more popular in the U.S.".
Nope, it was just as unpopular here as well. I'm very much in favor of other brands trying to make quality pieces that integrate with Lego, but until recently, the quality has been missing on nearly all of them. Kre-o was at the very beginning of these alternative brands, and was so terrible that even the worst brands today are better than Kre-o.
Today, GoBricks are finally on par with Lego. Unfortunately, only about 1/3 of the knock-off brands that you see use them. Of those brands many are either poorly designed, or they steal designs directly from Lego, which is obviously not a good practice. Mould King is probably the best knock-off brand today at making good quality fresh designs with good quality bricks. Some of their very large builds are actually superior to builds of the same size as Lego, but for medium to medium large sets, they still lag behind Lego, especially if you are looking only at Technic theme sets.
In general, Lego is staying ahead of the competition, but maybe just barely.
About Gobricks quality: I have had some big color variations, especially on red parts, and there is also a big difference between mould versions.
Best lock is still worse then Kre-o lol
Comparing a $200 Lego set to a $30 set from a company in its first year is ridiculous. You should know better.
BRO ITS KNOCK OFF LEGO
Nope, not really :)
