Pretty dope song in tribute to Final Fantasy VIII which is Shiren's (guitar, harsh vocals) favorite Final Fantasy so he wrote a song in tribute for it.
Out of all the looks Fuki has had over the years sorceress Fuki is my favorite. 🥵

The female vocalist is Fuki. You will find her in several different projects such as Lightbringer, Doll$boxx, Fuki, Fuki Commune and others. She is pretty busy as is Jill, the violinist. Jill was most recently featured in a video, The Sky Pirates, for the band Fate Gear.

Jill is also formerly of the band Hollow Mellow. I believe she is still technically a member of Rose Noire, although she is definitely a permanent member of Unlucky Morpheus.

Jill, the violinist, is the permanent member since 2016 and over the time she become a core part of UM ( or Ankimo - japanesse name of the band). She is extremely talented, started playing violin at age 3, classically trained, graduate of Tokyo University of the Arts, now she is 34, so you do the math. She is considered to be the best violin player in rock/metal music nowadays. Shiren, the redhead, is the leader and the brain of the band. He is the main composer of the music, plays several instruments, including a trumpet, but due to tenosynovitis, he is taking it easy, allowing other members to step of his shadow and shine. You should check out theirs live performances to truly see the quality of the band.

    Wow where to start :)
OK the song and the band 1st, and boy this will be long.
The song is based on Final Fantasy 8, with the words Time compressing, Lion's heart, Squall, GF ruining memories, witch, etc they also use final boss quotes. Shiren is a big FF8 fan and Fuki dress's like Edea. It was also released on the same day FF8 released.
Unlucky Morpheus (UM) were started in 2008, as a side project, by Shiren and Fuki. They were in another band that was also a side project that did covers of video game songs, after the band stopped Fuki told Shiren that she had enjoyed working with him and wanted to do it again, so UM was started. It was just the 2 of them for a number of years. They did Touhou (a video game series in Japan) arrangement albums. After a few years the fans wanted to see them live, so they asked some friends to help them play live. In 2013 they added another member, who is also a singer, whom Shiren also had a side project with, then they slowly added other members, with Jill violin being the last in 2016, at this point it was still a side project, as all the members were in other bands, 1 or 2 still are. It wasn't until about 2017/18 that they started to make it more full time, as they started to release that they had become popular, not only in Japan, but around the world. They did there 1st tour of Japan in 2017 and played out side Japan for the 1st time in Oct 2019 in London, were I saw them. They have said that they want to do a world tour, but that idea is on hold due to the current problems.
The way they put the band together was a bit different as well. What they did was do some live shows with friends and ask some other people to help them out, they did this over a few shows/years and if they worked together well, they asked them to join the band.
Fuki (singer) is just a workaholic, in 16 years she has been involved in around 100 releases, mostly full albums. Apart from being in UM she is also in Doll$boxx, a side project between her and Gacharic Spin (pop rock), she also has her own solo act, plus many other things she is part of inc guest appearances. She is also a designer and occasionally does modeling work. Also she is not a trained singer, as she say's it's the way her mother sang and that's where she got it from.
Shiren (lead Guitar/growls) is normally the lead guitarist, but he has tenosynovitis of the arm/wrist, so has to rest it, now and again, that's the reason behind the guitar he uses on stage, as there is not much weight to it. When Shiren takes a rest, Jill takes over his part playing violin when they are live, in 2 songs, Black Pentagram and Angreifer. He has started to do more growls lately due to his arm problem, so they a lot of songs with out the growls. He was also in the 1st Kami band (Babymetal) at Legend "I", he has also been in lots of other bands. He also plays Bass, Keyboards, Piano, Trumpet, Programming, Drums, Percussion, Arrangement, Composition, and various other instruments.
Jill (violin) is just ........................ What can you say about Jill, that you can't say about the rest of the band, she is just super talented, she is a Tokyo University of the Arts graduate and totally the real deal. Jill also claims to be pitch perfect, and can hear the pitch of rain if she wants to, as when she 1st learnt to play that is how she was taught to learn music, by ear not notes from a sheet. She has her own YT channel (jill violin channel). She has also done and still does work with other bands, some of them are big names in Japan. When she 1st joined the band they did tend to put her down in the mix when they did studio tracks, but now as the fans love her, they have moved her a bit more to the front. They have also started a side project called "Quadratum From Unlucky Morpheus" which is Jinya, Jill, Ogawa, and Fumiya. They are doing instrumental covers and have an album out. Fuki has said that the violin takes the part of the vocalist. Try a violin cover of EVH's "Eruption".
Ogawa (bass) is really a jazz bassist, he is in the band as he was friends with the other members before he joined. He was a protégé of Mikio Fujioka, who you may know from Babymetal's Kami band, were in a band called Trick Box, way back in 2008.
Jinya (guitar) has his own band called "Carbonic Acid" and also plays in another band called "Undead Corporation". He has also had to do a bit more of the guitar work due to the problem with Shiren.
Fumiya (drums) Another member that has had a lot of work with other bands over the years inc Galneryus.
There is one more member of the band, who you never really see, as he only appears at some of the live shows in Japan. He is another singer, who used to be in 2 other side projects of Shiren's, one of them also had Fuki as well. That is "Kasumi".
While UM are a metal band, they refer to themselves as a technical melodic speed metal band, they can play other styles, and often do when live. They some times do jazz, smooth, rock, on Christmas day they did a live stream which was very smooth.
Try "Angreifer" (live). If you want more violin based "Tower Of Blood", or check out "Unlucky Morpheus violin cover"
The problem with music in the west compared to Japan. In the west we tend to chase the money, music labels want the next big thing, that sound like the last thing, as the last thing made money. So bands do start to sound like each other after a while, small bands want to be signed, so tend to sound like the big acts, so the labels will like them.
Whereas Japan the Music industry has it's cash cow in J-pop and tends to leave the J rock/metal side of things alone. Most of the Japanese bands you've reacted to are mainly independent, Unlucky Morpheus are truly independent, recording's, videos, promotion, manage and all the stuff that a management team or label would do, they do themselves, they are not interested in signing to a label with someone telling them what to do. And there are 100's of bands like that in Japan, most of which you'll never hear of, but you may as they get pushed by the fans.
So what this leads to is bands sounding different and pushing boundaries that bands in the west would like to do, but the music industry will not touch them if they did. Western bands will try it, but they can only really do it once they are a big name, but then they get push back from the fans as "it's not the same". But with Japanese bands, because they have done it from the start the fans accept the difference, OK it may throw a few western fans of the bands off as we are not used to it. And that's why they seam to be kicking the arse's of the bands in the west.
New wave of Japanese heavy metal, well it sort of is. While Japanese metal has been around since the 80's it's never really had the impact on the west. But that changed in 2014 with one small Japanese band taking a gamble and playing what was thought of as one of the biggest metal festivals in Europe. It was a gamble because Japanese bands tended to do the same thing, which is get big at home then travel the outside world, with your home base providing the financial support for the tour. The festival it's self took a gamble on an unknown band from Japan, that they only book due to a facebook campaign by some fans, that band was Babymetal. Babymetal then started to go back to the west as they found that people wanted something different and they were providing it. Then between 2014 and 2016 some people start to look what else there was in the Japanese metal/rock scene and found bands they liked, and got reactors to react to them, much like yourself. Also the newer Japanese bands noticed that Babymetal were making a name for themselves overseas and thought they would give it a go. Lovebites came over and played in London just after a year of forming and the year after started the European festival scene as well as touring, Band Maid were another band that came over. Nemophila were put together with the idea of touring oversea, but the world closed down so haven't managed it yet. Slowly Japanese bands started to realise that their is a fan base outside Japan, that was not only waiting to be tapped into, but bigger, so they started to come over, they just need to get on to the festival circuit. In the October just before the world shut down I went to Metal Matsuri in London, which was 10 Japanese metal bands over 2 day's with Mary's Blood and Unlucky Morpheus as headliners.
Another band you may like to check out is "Fate Gear - Battle against Justice" it's the heaviest song they've done, they are normally a bit lighter. ruclips.net/video/cjiGGFW7jBE/видео.html

That's a lot of great information. Thanks for that. I have a feeling that if this pandemic hadn't happened, based on what you're saying here, a Japanese metal invasion would probably have started around the world. And I mean invasion in a good way. 😂 Band-Maid was the first Japanese band I reacted to and I really didn't expect it to blow up like it did. It's a great ride and I'm nowhere near done with it.

So now you are acquainted to *Fuki,* she is very respected as a vocalist in Japan though this song does not let her show it that much. And yes *Jill* is a core part of Unlucky, the violin player. Violin is always associated with UM music. You should also pay attention to *Shiren,* the guitar player guy, in this song wearing red and also doing the backup screams. Really talented.
PD: Relating to your final commentary, Lovebites were selling tees a couple of years ago with the legend NWOJHM 😂 Probably Miho's idea. But yeah, it's pretty obvious that Japan is breeding an awesome generation of heavy metal performers. I'm guessing that Iron Maiden's decision to theme their last album like this is in some way a show of respect to all this artists and a way to call the west metal community on what's happening there. "Hey you guys should look at this and respect it more". If someone deserves to be entitled to call us it's them.

So, some people might suggest Black Pentagram, the MV, but I will suggest you react to the live version instead. Shiren (growls, guitar, red hair) has wrist problems and takes a few breaks from the guitar during concerts, Jill (violinist) will take his guitar parts and play it on the violin, which makes up for great violin solos and leads.
"Black Pentagram" live, "Angreifer" live are my biggest recommendations for the next song, but there is plenty more to explore.

Awesome band, my favorite just after Lovebites ! Their music is unique, mixing differents atmospheres from gothic to death and symphonic metal, and Fuki is just the best female voice today, as powerful (and maybe even more) than Floor Jansen's one in my opinion. Jill the violonist is a plus to the band, of course, and it has also to be mentionned that this band is independant and does everything by its own, no producer ! I always love me some Yousei Teikoku - who are also called "Das Feenreich", which is a literal translation into german, which for some might be easier.
So few people ever get to them, which I think might have something to do with their choice of Music Videos. I always feel that their very best stuff gets no video. "Astral Dogma" is a very cool song, as is Kuusou Mesorogiwi but from PAX VESANIA I feel like "ココロサンクチュアリ" (Kokoro Sanctuary) and "missing" both trump them.
Shadow Corps(e) only got the Shadow Corps video and there (in my opinion) it's one of the weakest songs on the album.
The Age Of Villains at least gave us "Paradiso≒Inferno", which is great, but again, theres "絶" (Zetsu) on there! And "Iron Rose", and "葬送フリヰジアン" (Sousou friesian)! That whole Album is just so good...
And as much as I love Yui, as far as RUclips content goes one of the best moments has to be the instrumental/solo parts of the PAX VESANIA show starting somewhere around the 50-minute mark. They just have so much fun on stage :)
Also, considering how their sound got more and more aggressive/heavy with every new album maybe the newest video might be a better place to start, for a few albums it seems that is the direction they are going in. That would be "Paradiso≒Inferno". Since Shiren withdrew and Tachibana doesn't play anymore it's the only video with the two new guitarists, XiVa and ryöga.

@@jeanleveille5319 I'd say great commitment :) Sadly I couldn't afford a trip like that, it pretty much has to at least be western europe, and i'll admit I hadn't heard of Sokoninaru. But I'll also say that I'm impressed, great variety in that song (as well as technical skills, but I've become so used to that from Japanese groups :P). Just watched it after the Ankimo stream just now, which was a nice afternoon treat.
Just this week I randomly stumbled upon FERN PLANET ("サテライト・サーチライト" is awesomely funky), found 矢島舞依 (with "Lunatic Isolation") through ZMZ's channel and now Sokoninaru. While I do enjoy quite some german bands and honestly there's some great talent everywhere somehow I've yet to be disappointed by any Japanese act.
At the very least it would appear live concerts are becoming a thing again, January I'll (hopefully) be able to catch TAO perform really close by, TAIKO drumming is another one of my weaknesses, but man if Yui-sama ever comes over here I just might have to buy a dozen tickets and just drag people there. It's really sad that a lot of those bands are (relatively) unknown over here.
