The riffs are a combination of Warren Zevon's "Werewolves Of London" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama".
Yeah werewolves of London was a good smokin song back in the day
Absolutely brilliantly done
Kid Rock is a no talent hack. He had to rip off TWO songs to prop up his garbage song.
I bet if they listened to "Werewolves of London", they'd probably appreciate this song even more. Kinda like the first "Mash-up"...before that became a thing!
@@DivaInTheWoods I’m pretty sure they already reviewed werewolves of London
The man writes songs, plays about any instrument, and you guys are just touching the surface of of what Kid has done. So many hits he has done.
The only reason why the media was calling Kid Rock down was because his politics differed from their narrative
I’m from Michigan and trust me a lot of us have had memorable summers like that. My favorite Kid Rock song.
I'm from Michigan as well and you aint lying....
@@spike6487 Higgins or Houghton?
"Summertime in northern Michigan."
Growing up we always went to Houghton Lake. As I got older it was Higgins Lake.
A few crazy weekends. Just a few. :-)
My family’s place is in Oscoda on Lake Huron.
I grew up across the lake from Michigan on the Canadian shores of Lake Huron...Kid nailed the lyrics, I would go back to those years in a heartbeat.
Southwest Michigander here and yes this songs always brings back memories.
growing up in the 70' 80's was fun...no cells, no internet. Sweet times
Agreed.
Ahh the 70's and 80's. When the meth was pure and the air was filled with lead from gasoline.
Seriously, look it up. Leaded gasoline made our entire country dumber in one generation.
@@SpacemanXC 🤣🤣🤣
I turned 13 in 1980, Best decade ever.
Also no evidence 😁😉
He is very underrated as an artist. A lot of people don't realize how many instruments he can play and what a good voice he has.
While Kid Rock was jamming to Sweet home Alabama in 89, I was jamming to Billy Squier and Ozzy Osbourne in ‘83.
Good times!
He was jamming to Run DMC in 83
The thing that impressed me the most about Kid Rock was the one on US O tours and actually showed the service members how to play different riffs on their guitar. He is an amazingly kind and generous human being and as far as the media goes of course they don’t like him because he doesn’t follow their protocols or they’re insane beliefs
He either shows up hard or doesn't show up, but you can't blame everybody who doesn't like him. He did a show near here where he went on stage in no shape whatsoever to perform, just drunk out of his mind. When tickets cost as much as they do people have a right to form a bad opinion of that kind of thing.
@@mage1439 Yeah and we’re also perfect that we can just sit there and condemn everybody and then nobody will ever be forgiven for anything that they’ve ever done ever
Don’t know who thought of mashing up Werewolves of London with Sweet Home Alabama but that shit is genius! Sounds so good👍
His name is Bobby Shazam!
I wasn't prepared for the nostalgia this video hit me with.
Just got back from the Kid Rock concert in Nashville, sold out 25,000...and he f**king Rocked!! Played every instrument including the sax! One of the best concerts I've ever seen and I've seen a lot.
Unfortunately I've never had the pleasure of seeing him but friends say he was epic. Best concert they've ever seen
Such a great song by Kid Rock. Uncle Kracker is one of Kid Rocks band members has some great summer songs as well. Follow Me, Drift Away, Smile are all worth the listen.
In 2019 our vacation fell through at the last minute because an injury to my nephew living in Northern Michigan left him unable to travel far. We found an Airbnb and spent a week in Bay City, MI. They had a free concert that weekend with The Verve and Uncle Kracker and this song was the encore. The entire park started rocking when those first chords rang out.
This song is derivative garbage
Bobby is from Romeo where I met my wife. Kracker is from my high school in Mt Clemens. (L'anse Creuse)
Local good ol boys.
He used the melodies from both “Werewolves Of London” and “Sweet Home Alabama” and made up new words.
You said it before I had a chance. lol
Well didn't Warren Zevon admit he stole the hook from Werewolves from Sweet Home Alabama? I think he was just goofing off on the piano playing it and came up with lyrics.
@@Rock_Snob Well it ended up being that obviously. I think he said he was goofing off in the studio warming up or whatever. One of the songs him and the band like to mess around with was Sweet Home Alabama. Warren was such a talented lyricist that writing the song was easy once the idea came to him.
Paying homage
"My thoughts were short, my hair was long" is the best line he's ever written.
I’d say “Sipping whisky out the bottle, not thinking bout tomorrow”
Little old lady got mutilated late last night
@@chrisa4695 The lyrics to the whole song were perfect. Told a true story of what it was like back in the day. Whether it be the 50's, 60's 70's or 80's. I have to stop at the 80's though. That's when the war on drugs started and ruined all the fun.
"It's the simple things in life, like when and where" is another great line. That was life, when is the party and where is it?
one of my favorite kid rock songs. I'm from Michigan also and was 17 in 1985. some of the best times of my life and when I hear this song I go right back to them. Bob segar is another that will bring back those memories from a Michiganders life
"Hey, DETROIT!!!"
Technically, a sample is digital technology that allows an artist or producer to digitally record a snippet of a song or even an isolated track such as a base line. When musicians record the portions of the song using live instruments, it is called an interpolation.
Well TECHNICALLY nobody asked.
@@mr_dill_pickle5242 you don't need to 🤡
Yeah absolutely. That's always annoyed me when you hear someone's new take on a well-known song played on the radio, and the announcer calls it a mix, or claims it has samples... 🤦♂️
@@mr_dill_pickle5242 actually, Brad & Lex asked if it was a sample.
Rap, Rock, Country, Movies... He was great in "Joe Dirt". JS
Actual Art...
Lots of sampling in this song, Warren Zevon's "werewolves of London" and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet home Alabama."
Funny when "werewolves of London" is a relatively new song for me, and this is "old," but I can't not hear the sample now. "Ahhh-ooooo!" I love learning about the classic influences of modern artists.
You beat me to it. I was going to say that
Rappers sample all the time. Does that upset you as well?
Sampling? Rip off is what it is
@@patrickoconnor7890 We don't live in a vacuum - everyone is inspired and influenced by the things that came before us. Reinventing and rearranging old material is necessary to keep good things alive and relevant.
Kid Rock is one of my favorite artists. I've been around forever and heard it all and he is way underrated.
You're correct Brad. Bob's definitely talented. Even his haters in the industry give him credit for the hard work he put in to get where he is. Insane Clown Possey being one of them.
Ahhh the musical magpie , stealing everybody else sh*t lol
If you come up with the idea to combine two songs(SWEET HOME ALABAMA and WEREWOLVES OF LONDON) and imho not lose the integrity of both songs and make a great song like this is genius...musical genius.
I highly recommend you check out "what makes this song stink - Episode 2" to find out why you are wrong. ;)
(in a tongue in cheek kind of way)
Kid Rock puts on an incredible show and is very talented. Great artist and completely unapologetic for who he is or what he does. Much respect for this one, y’all 😎
He played this song with Skynyrd when they got inducted into the Rock and Roll hall of fame!
Aaaah ooooooooooh! Werewolves of London…. Love this song, tied up with Sweet Home Alabama. Long way from bah wit ta bah
He came to my deployed location and performed. He posed for a lot of pictures and is genuinely a nice guy.
Appreciate you for your service
Freedom!
For that I thank you
As a Michigander, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for Kid Rock, but also for Bob Seger. A TON of talent came out of this state.
Anyway, it's a neat mashup of "Werewolves of London" and "Sweet Home Alabama", but with completely original lyrics. Definitely sounded similar to my summers here around 1989... minus the smoking funny things and drinking, I was too young and not into that. Hell, I was 13-14 back then! But the fishing, the swimming, the boating... every summer for Independence Day week we'd stay at my uncle and aunt's house on Myers Lake doing all of that, then sleeping in tents in the back yard. Those were perhaps my favorite summers of my 46 years of life! The song sorta encapsulates all that.
So true. I watched a video on RUclips the other day and we were ranked 4th out of all the states for the Artist that were born here. That's an awesome Stat. 3 was Texas, 2 was New York and 1 was California of course. Tennessee was around 28? Which I think is kinda crazy.
You mentioned Michigan talent. I can give you a list that's a mile damb long.
Why Cleveland R&R Hall of Fame. Duh? Oh they felt sorry for the mistake by the lake.
This song just reminds me of my youth. It really was a great time. I look at my kids and see them not really enjoying life. They're to busy with things on the computer and cellphone. Even though I limit it as much as possible, they just don't have the same things we did as teens.
Kid Rock can play all instruments.. Raps, writes songs like this and all kinds. Definitely, has always lived and created who he is today “American Badass”!
Hahaaaa... We were Actually Singing Sweet Home Alabama as Michiganders... Sunshine, Water, Boiler Makers and Southern Rock Tunes... Oh the GOOD OLD DAYS 🌅🏕🔥 🎶🏖 🚣
I'm from South Carolina, he is from Michigan...same cept'n he catching walleyes and we catchin bass and cats
I watched him at a concert play every instrument during a song. He is a very talented musician.
There is nothing like seeing him live singing this song . Kid Rock wasnt my cup of tea , until i went to Rock the South and he was the headliner . He put on one hell of a show!
He really is very talented cause Ive seen him many times live, being from the metro Detroit area, that he plays ever instrument on stage, and raps and sings and dances too.
Kid Rock got famous one way… then stayed relevant another. He’s knocked for his original work, but he’s got undeniable bangers.
Kid Rock does so many different styles. You should check out the song New Orleans. It is a blues type song with a bit of rock too. Born Free is another good one. Nice reaction to this one. Hope you are both doing well.
It's a mash up done really well. The lyrics remind me of a simpler time and that's always nice too,
You are so right Brad. I saw Kid Rock live a couple times and I'm going again this summer. He is really talented. He plays every instrument on stage.
Brad my brother...just let it go. Get in the groove and off your stump. Move a little lol...Love you guys.
the riff and music is from Warren Zevon Werewolves of London. which was reacted to a few months back lol
Kid Rock is a great artist and very talented. He has dipped his toe is to a few different genres and he succeeds in all.
This song is a great tribute to a song we all grew up with while we were young and doing whatever we wanted too.
I'm a big fan of Kid Rock, he also sampled a Metallica song for his song 'American Badass' 🤘🤘🤘
I love Kid Rock! I was born in January 1970 so I was in my 20s during the 90s and Kid Rock was a big big deal. I love this man.
Brad: "We know something about him." - lmao, this is true. And Kid is more versatile than he gets credit for. Metal, rap, rap-metal, country rock, all there.
Love lex's energy always.
Still love kid rock to this day and I'm Scottish..🏴thank for playing it..brings back great memories when I was in my youth..I'm 51 and still blast it on my headphones and in my can...❤
Kid Rock has done rap, rock, country, funk, jazz and classical so yes he is genuinely talented
Nice how Warewolev of london was mixed in with Sweet home Alabama went good together.
Yes, Kid Rock is extremely acomplished musician... I absolutely adore his recent album Sweet Southern Sugar... its a matured performance by a skilled musician. Check out the song American Rocknroll you will love it :)
If you like how he mixed Werewolves of London and Sweet home Alabama. You'd love his live show. His whole show is sampling of his music and classic's mashups blended together on live instruments. One of the best shows you'll ever see
People DONT HATE KID ROCK! the MEDIA hates him! so they lie! he is the most talented artist. and i feel like he grew with me! he even did new orleans type jazz-ish! listen to his song NEW ORLEANS! kid rock imho is the most talented man USA has produced in the last 30 years
Billy Powell the original piano player from Skynyrd played the piano at the end.
Love kid rock! A few months ago went to his concert in Omaha on his bad reputation tour. Kid rock is awesome. Live he is an amazing performer! Still kickin it at 50 years old. Took my kids to see the concert and they loved it! Can’t say enough about the man, he’s awesome down to earth guy. Great reaction, love the channel. Can’t wait to see more reactions to kid rock
Absolutely love this song 🎧
KID ROCK: Only God Knows Why, Lowlife, I Am The Bullgod, Half Your Age, and American Badass (w/ the METALLICA riff). You'll dig it.
And Born Free
He’s the REAL deal! You should see him live. ❤️🇺🇸
Kid Rock has so much good music.
Rock, Rap, Country, Soul and Hip Hop
The way these two songs - Werewolves of London & Sweet Home Alabama - fit together is just this side of pure magic, and man did he make good use of it!
Born in 1970 I was 19 in 1989 a fun year….hell my whole life has been great but the 80’s into the early 90’s was just a great time to grow up and be alive in…
I’m 50 now but a lifetime ago my summers were at the lake doing every single thing he’s singing about! It was an amazing time
I saw him in concert in 2004 and he can play every instrument
KR does great stuff. “Amen” for instance. Great song with a great message.
Saw him in concert here in Memphis a few years ago. He knows how to put on a hell of a show and had everyone dancing, drinks and "adult" cigars. Voice was great and he probably was the best concert I've been to.
This song could be written by me it describes my youth so well (except change the girl for a guy). Water sports by day, partying by night with a little love thrown in...such a good time.
My favorite Kid Rock song is still Cold and Empty...doesnt get as much love now but in my opinion it shows off all the good things about his music, check it out!
A little about Kid Rock. He lives outside Nashville on a large track of land in a trailer. He said, hey if anything goes wrong I can just drag it out of the way and put a new one in. he donates a LOT of money to helping disadvantaged children, victims of war and natural disasters, and those suffering from illness.
1989... I was 18 my GF (now wife of 31 years) was 17. Oh, the good ole days... and the Wearwolves of Alabama tune lol!
This was my song. Still is. But I had this on every playlist and when it came on CMT during the top 20 countdown I just sat there and waited for it because it beat every other song to me.❤
Geatings from Spain!! Kid Rock is a great artist, much respect !!
Brad looks too serious, Lex is always smiling...so sweat, you are beautifull, Hasta la vista chicos !
I'm from Michigan but live in Alabama now. not too far away from you two. 😉 I remember jamming this song way before I ever moved down here. never thought I'd live in sweet home Alabama.
The whole song is a musical mixture , i love what they did with it . Hes super talented . Love "Werewolves of London" and to hear it again like this was amazing. you should react to that song and hear what the difference is :)
I saw Kid Rock in concert and he puts on a fantastic show. At one point in the concert jumped up and stood on the turn tables and was using his feet to scratch the vinyls.
For a great performance from Kid Rock check out "Cowboy" at Sturgis. You'll get an idea why his fans love his concerts. My brother who is 66 attends Kid Rocks concerts with his daughters, they are all fans. 💖
My summers were spent with grandparents in a little lake-front cottage in Michigan.....this song soaks me in memory.
I like KId. I'm a guitarist and my friend Kevin(also a guitarist) jokingly refer to him as Kid Ripoff because yeah he doesn't really sample he will literally use the major parts of a know song but with his own lyrics. That said it's still good. I know the entire Rock and Roll Jesus cd was exactly that, literally someone elses music with his lyrics on every song. Kevin and I sat and figured out the whole cd in about 30 minutes on guitar. It was that easy because we already knew the songs lol. I think this is more creative than just doing a straight cover.
I may be mistaken but there has only been 3 man to front Skynyrd for a concert. Ronnie Van Zant, Johnny Van Zant and Kid Rock was an emergency fill in one night
One of my favorite fun songs. Use it as my ringer on my cell. Always gets a smile from anyone close by listening when I get a call.
Pat Finnerty features "All Summer Long" in his series, "What Makes This Song Stink." I can't recommend it enough.
Lots of sampling in this song buy I love it. It reminds me a whole lot about the best of my youth.
It was a mashup... Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama. I am guessing you haven't listened to Werewolves of London yet... this is one of my favorite Kid Rock songs.
This song describes a MIchigan summer perfectly! Sandbars & partying at or on the lake. Campfires & music & cocktails & smoke. Kid is Michigan thru & thru. He has some great music. Hate his politics but like his music. Check out his song 'Only God knows why' or his duet with Cheryl Crow, 'Picture'. Totally different side of him.
The other (not sweet home Alabama) underlying chord progression was werewolves of London by Warren Zevon (sp).
Kid Rock June 11th in Tampa!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait. "WE THE PEOPLE" "AINT NOBODY GONNA TELL ME HOW TO LIVE"
My dad got into Kid when he came out. My dad didn't get into a lot of new music. So Kid came to town for a concert and I got tickets for us. Anytime he came back around dad and I were pretty much there.
Kid inducted Skynyrd into the R & R Roll Hall of Fame. I think y’all reacted to WEREWOLVES OF LONDON, too. This song encompasses music from both both Werewolves and SWEET HOME ALABAMA.
"They" hate him because he is unapologetic in who he is and the music he makes. He has also jumped around in multiple genres and a lot of people hate artists who do that and consider it the same as selling out. He's also kind of a troll with a FU attitude who enjoys poking the hornets nest so is an easy target especially in todays over political climate.
Kid rock kicks butt , so talented can do any genre of music, and can play alot instruments. Always going to have haters.
Watch the video "Why this song stinks, Kid Rock," and maybe you'll understand better.
He rips off Nirvana for the opening drum fill and the guitar solo is played out of key. He also rhymes _things_ with the word _things_ in this song. Brilliant lyrics lmao
I can't stand Robert Richie bc he has no talent., no substance. And his tough guy attitude, what a joke.
@@SpacemanXC This is one of those songs made for radio. Those usually stink on a certain level especially after dozens of replays but played at the right time you will always get positive feedback.
You think Dave Grohl is the only person to have ever used that drum fill? lol, ok.
Hate on though player. Hope it works out for you.
@@ericblair54 Hate on hater. lol.
A lot of people don't know that he can play every instrument on the stage, and he plays each one at least once during his concerts.
Im from Chicago but man do I love Michigan. Its a beautiful state. When Im on my way up to the beach there we play this song.
I personally am not a fan of his music, but he is very talented and no one can take that away from him or his band
I knew Kid Rock. We met in Mt.Clemens Michigan. He said he had a contract and would be a star. I said ya right slow down on the beer. He goes you will see. Look at him now 😂
Brad, I saw that grin. Kid is so diverse, can't think of another artist that can go in so many directions
You should really check out some early Kid Rock, to get a feel of where he started.
I would recommend the original version of the song “Early Mornin’ Stoned Pimp”, from the mid-90’s, off his 3rd album, of the same name.
His very 1st album was released on Jive records, the same month as Vanilla Ice’s, it was a very early 90’s Hip Hop style, he got dropped from the label after 1 album and had to build everything back up as independent artist.
He was still Hip Hop, but got together a live band and started working other genre’s into his music, and did well enough on his own the major labels came back to him.
He recorded his next major Label album the same time fellow Detroit Rapper Eminem was recording his debut album, that’s how long Kid Rock had been working to be successful, and that was his 1st album to blow up.
Yes Kim, Exact same Progression as "Werewolves of London & Sweet Home in Alabama." :)
Not only talented! Great live and down to earth (simple man)👍✌❤🤘🇺🇲
If media bashes someone you know that person has gotta talent and smarts and doesn't suck up to the media.
This song was my childhood. Noe we the people is my adult hood . He is incredible
I love Kid rock and what some mad is he speaks his mind and dont back down to haters, hes a man and some cant stand it. , hes talented. and no nosnense man and this song just is about being a teenager and summer nights and days
Yes kid rock has a big range.
He can sing " hard night for Sarah" shows his vocals and it's a great song
Yes love Warren Zevon's "Werewolves Of London" in this song !
Now you need to do werewolfs of London and dig into Warren Zevon's catalogue.
Late 70's doing the Michigan dunes before heading back to college.
