80's...best years of my life! Life so much better without the internet and cell phones. Married in 89 and didn't have a tv for the first year of marriage. We learned to communicate with each other. Going on 33 years and we have never raised our voices to each other. I miss those days!
Back then it was so much more fun. Everybody knew where to go after a football game. We didn't need cell phones (class of 88). Now I freakout if I leave my phone at home and it SUCKS to even have to feel like that
School Year - Friday night pasture parties after the football game, Sat night going to another town to sneak into bar with band playing where nobody knew you except the bouncer ... Summer time out on the River like the Kid says. Good times, good times ...

There was always something to do. Out all night watching live bands in clubs until 3 am, go home, sleep 2 hours, go to work. And do it all over again the next night!

We used to walk around the neighborhood and find different groups of kids everywhere to hang out with. Don’t remember the last time I saw a group of kids in the neighborhood, nowadays they play video games indoors.

I get to video chat w/ my children & grandson anytime I please, not to mention you can buy things w/ just a push of a button. My answer is a cop-out, I know. Believe it or not, it was nothing at all to go a whole month without using a phone or television. Out where we were, it was all CB radio or nothing for communications. For $20, you could fill up your car, buy a carton of smokes, a 12 pack of beer and large pizza. I don't recall ever looking at a clock and didn't even care to find one. lol Of Course this was circa 1977, The absolute historical peak of good times in America.
The internet did technically exist in the 70s and 80s dial servers but you had to have one in your area or go to a library or college that had one it was mostly for chatting.

When there was no internet you interacted with the people around you instead of always looking at a phone..... Also, it was better to not have a phone always available for those times you might get home a little (or a lot) late - not having a phone to call and all.... You know, sometimes it is better to ask forgiveness after than permission before doing something.
Life before connection was a better life. It was simpler and people seemed happier.
