I went into this movie not knowing about the book. In a nutshell, this story is a demonstration of poor writing because Benitez is an unneeded character. In fact he’s worse than unnecessary, his character actually detracts from the story. Bellini was the honest progressive. Benitez was the deceitfully progressive. So the movie had it’s progressive (Bellini) to oppose it’s traditionalist (Tedesco) and it had its middle ground character (Lawrence). Benitez was not needed. On top of this, because of his deceit the character who “won” is someone the audience can’t root for. What a misstep for a writer to make.
You don't realize that "Tedesco" means "German" in Italian. I can only imagine that the character is supposed to be Josef Ratzinger, Benedict XVI. Pretty blatant, too.

I enjoy being the highest moral and aesthetic authority in my life. I spontaneously enjoyed the three-day-long mystical experience a long while back, and hell, if "god" accepts me as I am, I don't need a bunch of other people to approve, accept, or affirm me. And oh, look! The law here in the West appears to have been crafted such that I never have to join any group. All I have to do is obey the law, which is the only objective form of morality. Feels good to be free. I'd recommend it to you, but it seems you're busy rummaging in other peoples' ideas, imagining vainly that we must or even could "go back" to some imagined, better time. I'm not "woke". Not a partisan. That's the hallmark of freedom. I'm too busy doing me to be a joiner. What about you? Don't you want to be free? Don't you want to step into office as the highest moral and aesthetic authority in your own life? After all, if you point to someone else and say they are your superior, well, you could only _do_ that if it was your authority to give away in the first place. And it is.
@@TheDrakelicious Lol, that is the bugaboo of 19th century philosophers, and it doesn't exist in the wild. No one believes nothing. I just don't believe what you believe. And that's okay. Not going to work, here. 😁
@RichardLucas I did want to comment on the original post, but it’s a bit incoherent. I’m glad you got it off your chest tho, whatever the message was seems to gives you some kind of bliss. I didn’t want to throw a stick in the wheel.
@@ghettoplex Lol, I'm willing to discuss the issue if you can pull yourself away from reflexive pathologizing and ad hom. I'll get us started... The Enlightenment wasn't about turning one's back on god, but on the church. Science was the new path to absolute truth (so they thought) and the best and brightest would prove that their own moral prejudices were based on something objective, the way physics works. For over four hundred years, folks have sought to develop some scheme that would make morality objective. They failed. That's why you cannot offer any justifications for your prejudice. You don't have any. It's all just politics. It's why the law is set up to protect your biological and psychological idiosyncrasy, because that's what explains differences in moral and aesthetic prejudices. Differences of opinion aren't error. Meta-ethics is writ in proteins, and no one reasons their way to moral positions but Aspies. Our deontological prejudices are below language and we see other animals sharing them. But then we have language, so we use it to try to bring people over to our own prejudices. That's politics. Lol, even the pro moral philosophers who are supposed to have it all worked out are apparently no better at following their own prescriptions than the rest of us. Now, do you have anything of substance in your criticism? By the way, "incoherent" is a way of saying meaningless, and I rather doubt you don't understand its meaning. This is a strategy people invoke when they have no argument, and it is referred to as a "coercive theory of meaning". We can talk about that, too. 😁

Its a total fantasy, just like your demonic "vision." You were in the New Age movement. You're probably demonically opressed, if not worse.
Since your not a member how do you know whats "going on inside the Vatican"?
Nooooo
I like the point Mel made about two Churches, but think different significance. I always wondered exactly when the popes stopped being Jewish fellas with little hats and started being Catholic fellas with little hats and a crown.
Onto the nature of intelligence.
Thoughts are chaos.
Ideas organise thoughts.
Ideologies organise ideas.
The issue is where do many put their faith in.
For faith breed culture and so cults errect from.
The intelligence behind cults is axed toward survival..the more our faith is geared thru Fear the more cults will seek to control religion..for fear bring people to hear what they want to hear and not accept truth.
"Which is False can become Real, but it will never be True!"
From a narrative standpoint point, you are 100% spot on.
Benitez is more integral in the book, in my opinion.
Tedesco was clearly the villain
Team Tedesco, let’s go!
You don't realize that "Tedesco" means "German" in Italian. I can only imagine that the character is supposed to be Josef Ratzinger, Benedict XVI. Pretty blatant, too.
@richarddefortuna2252 I wish I had some kind of meme response to the German part, but all I can think of is that Boys Noize song “Ich R U” which is a really fun song
Mel Gibson still upset about Nostra Aetate...
But Grace Reynolds loves this movie.
Total trash.
Pure evil.
i hate them respecting disgusting and violent muslim groups but hating on Christianity....i hope people dont watch this and movie flops
5:45 yes I've seen that 3 times in my country in the last 7 years
Bro how you gona use sweet gorgeous Mary Morgan in your thumbnail but not included her in the vid?
Clackbait forsure.
Ok, sorry, but you need to practice talking or how to properly communicate your thoughts, cause you start and stop at literally every word, which makes extremely hard to make sense of what you are trying to say... Just a constructive criticism 😂
You're not wrong, I do struggle with how I think of what I want to say and how I actually say it
@@ghettoplex i didn't mean to sound nasty by the way. But I do think if you do get better at it would definitely help you and your channel. Keep at it! Cheers! :))

This movie seems intresting! They should make a sequel called 'The Council of Nicea"!
@@jameskevin6017 this film is based on novel.
@@gloriathomas3245 I knew, Council of Nicea would be the best!
Who the girl in the thumbnail ?
Mary Morgan from Pop Culture Crisis
Who dat? Who dat girl?
I like Mary, she gives me hope for the future of America.
@destry5250 same 🙏🏼
@malfeitor1349 is that from a meme? 😂
We need a trans gay Pope now. This is the time.
😂
😂😂😂
This Mel video is pure gold, he’s absolutely got point of the situation.
Mel has been in the U.S. for too long since he's developed an American accent.
Thanks much! I'll miss it.
I took one for the team
You know, the last book of the B has the Catholic Church as partner to the Anti-C. I said Church, as in the institution.
No, I'm not watching the movie. Hollywood keeps producing trash. I know who i serve in my heart and whom I love, Jesus.
Woke BS, I walked out as soon as it was exposed, and the word hysterectomy was used
God saw Catholicism coming.

Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

And it is.
So basically...Nihilism?
@@TheDrakelicious Lol, that is the bugaboo of 19th century philosophers, and it doesn't exist in the wild. No one believes nothing. I just don't believe what you believe. And that's okay. Calling people nihilists is identical to calling them psychopaths or otherwise pathologizing them. It's a political move, and it's supposed to frighten people off their position. Not going to work, here. 😁
@@TheDrakelicious But do yourself a favor and identify _specifically_ where you think I am off-base so that I may address it more precisely.
Well Gibson is rich so first he needs to give his money away and become poor. Then he needs to stop swearing. Is it going to happen?Of course not!!!Jesus never said Make a successful movie about me and you will be saved. If that was the case you would see a Jesus movie made every year.
@@michaels5676 Not my fault if you don't read the Bible.
@@leblancgeorges1479 Try again. Start with the Sermon on the Mount. The point was to do things like giving wealth away BECAUSE God was soon to Judge you. But what if He isn’t coming soon? Like the LDS Church taught?
First off Conclave is based on a novel and a very popular one at best and secondly the film was a much needed breath of fresh air from the superhero nonsense but overall I can only hope more and more political thrillers like this are because its nice trip back to the 90s when these kinds of films dominated theaters.
Overall its films like this that get people going to the theaters.
If this is the first movie you've seen that's not some Marvel garbage. I'll share some films you've been missing out on since you been living under a rock.
These are actually good and should automatically satisfy you and your hate boner for catholics
- Longlegs
- Pearl
- Immaculate (people really only here for Sidney Sweeney's bazongers)
Heretic is coming out soon, which looks pretty good.
Unrelated to the religion element, The Substance is probably one of the best films of the year.
I hope that's more fresh air for you, cause to be fascinated by "Conclave" is a sorry ass choice.
There's options out here ya filthy hermit.
@@ghettoplex You just recommended nothing but bloody thrillers and horror films. So much for "options". 🤨Where's this fresh air you condescendingly promised?
@@ghettoplex Substance is refreshingly new and Unique, just pack a strong stomach, gets really weird at the end. Another movie in the genre (Body horror, glam and fashion) The Neon Demon.

- The Popes Exorcist was good

I sense that similar movie about any other religion is not coming any time soon? :D
