I gotta say, I'm really like these collection type videos where you show off characters that have a trait in common that they all have their own spin on
Emolga is one of my favorite characters ever. They have a glide that launches them across the stage, areals that use the floatyness of the glide, and a projectile that is thrown at the angle you are gliding. It's an old school character that deserves far more credit.
Oh yeah, I should have mentioned that, since Emolga is actually the precursor to Zephrie! As far as I know Zephrie started off as OC Emolga before branching off into their own character. Kinda interesting how that happens!
@@Zetta330 for the most part, yeah. zephrie was always significantly different than emolga, even in their earliest stages, since the only thing i really wanted to carry over was the glide mechanic as a concept and nair and uspecial in specific. i think i had the right starting direction with emolga, but the static mechanic, i think, took up a bit too much design space for my liking and i wanted to focus more on movement rather than managing a bar. intrestingly, zeph started out very different from their current iteration, only sharing about 5 moves with what they have now, but they slowly morphed into what they are now over the course of like 5 months, some changes happening after release. fun fact: the reason strongs glide during startup is that i originally wanted you to be able to cancel into glide on any hit and then cancel the glide startup into strongs. needless to say, that did not make it all the way through the design process lol. also, thanks for the shoutout.
One character, while not having too much unique movement, but is very movement based I would say is 64 mario, since it's basically like playing a 3d mario character in a fighting game
Highlighting certain aspects of character design in the workshop can definitely make for a fun series. I'd personally love to see such a video about the many zoning/trapper mechanics that I've come to love from Rivals.
It's funny that given the little dude is my mascot he's also one of my favorite Rivals characters too. You go, my starry son. Destroy all aerial targets!
1 second ago Muno’s sonic is one of the most fun characters I’ve ever played, and I was honestly disappointed he wasn’t included. While obviously his speed and other tools like Spin Dash and Back air are present, his wisps really steal the show.
I fucking love Abyss Hime since between the special airdodge being similar to Celeste's and the USpecial letting you slide around like a maniac, you're more likely to SD because you flew too fast than you are to get hit by your opponent.
One of the simpler enhanced movement characters of we also happens to be my favorite: Mal by Reiga has a cool mechanic where she can summon clouds of miasma using Dspecial, Dtilt and Uspecial, but when you air dodge in or into them your airdodge speed and distance drastically increase. This also works with wave dashing, effectively giving her melee samus' super wavedash, allowing her combos to be continued even if the opponent is at the other side of the stage
Really good list, I feel like unique movement is exactly what captures shplurmff's characters so I'm glad to see both of them here That said I've gotta give a spotlight to Rokesha, their gun normals having variations for firing the gun is super fun for combos, but even more fun with the aerial movement they provide. That combined with their floaty double jump and the rest of their kit gives them such a unique, fluid & nuanced aerial movement that I can't say I've felt in any other character. I feel like Rokesha tends to get overlooked for more than just their movement, so as a personal favorite of mine I have to bring them up!
I don't actually play Rivals of Aether (yet) but I think that out of these characters, the ones I'm most interested in are Cosmonaut, Moemon Beedrill, R-00, and Zerra! They all look very fun! But these guys are ALL pretty cool to some degree! ^w^ (I feel like I would not be good at R-00 though. XD) 9:16 Oh heyyyy, that's you in the background! ^^
I dont know if it counts but a interesting character that is kinda mobility base is called Hugh, it doesn't have like an awesome design but it has his charm
Someday someone is going to master Zogo, and when that happens they shall get rewarded by their very existence getting the character banned, a mark that shall never fade as all those who faced them shall remember it as the dark age of the monkey
I used to play this game called super smash flash and Goku was on it, I loved playing as him cus his moves but also because he could do this thing we’re if you hold the jump button he would hover. (I don’t think you can play this game any more because flash player is not a thing any more)
the best character movement option in this game is undeniably the Door-Sled sideB of the James P Sully mod. check it out, it is one of the most well done mods in the game. up there with shrek, the good perfect cell, and homer simpson for explosive combo game
Great list! As for my own, I'm probably biased, but I really like Loadent's movement with the magnetic acorns and tether. You can get some wild stuff with it
While I will admit they're similar in some ways, ROB up special is a move with all the commitments of being a move. Elliana and Beedrill's hovers are both actionable immediately, and do not take up any move slot, but rather are part of your normal jump, like Peach and Pomme's floats.
It's rivals of aether, anyone who plays this gets at least honorary furry status by that fact alone, I don't make the rules Except I just did on the spot with no offical backing

I’ve been wondering how 0g would work in a platform fighter and this helps lots.
Roo moonwalk downsmash is fun. Unique angles for the projectile vs normal knockback is fun.

I think that smash flash was archived via flashpoint, so it should still be playable. Not super familar with how to set that up, though.

in ssl i don't play colour workshop often but i just checked gengar out and turns out im wrong this is just how they are in ssl lol
Thanks for showcasing characters like this! I hope that videos in this style continue to come.
I would say Mr Red has a lot of movement options in his grabs and his SHOCK smash attacks and his dash, and he can also grab the side of the stage
There's... no ledge grab in Rivals.
