I used to follow the trends but it was Paul Harrell’s video that convinced me to stick with my 40s. Not dead to me!! Love your work and honest reviews
I've also noticed a surge in interest in 40 both in person and online lately. Part of that is due to ammo shortages and people wanting something to shoot, and the other is I think people just wanting something different. Also yeah really with Paul Harrell's video on 40, that video talking about the FBI's move to it along with Hop mentioning it in a video of his really convinced me too
Thank you !
40 isn't dead but paul is
@@jrdsm It was i nice & touching double entendre and you ruined it. Congratulation.
Same here.
I know this...
In 2019 and 2020, when all the shelves were empty of 9s, 45s, even and especially 22s and 410s...
40s were nearly always available.
I didn't have any problems sourcing 9mm until about March of 2020. Which was fine because I don't wait until after an emergency to supply myself.
Buying ammo *after* emergency is declared is a bit like putting your seatbelt on after a collision. That, and .40 S&W only held out a couple weeks after 9mm and 5.56 did. The only thing we had here on the shelves was .350 Legend because the state hadn't legalized hunting with rifles yet.
The same was true back in 2012 in the post-SH rush on guns and ammo during the Obama admin. When everything else was gone or sold the second it hit the shelf to be resold online for insane profit, the .40 was still something you could regularly find and buy at regular prices.
Not sure if that will always be the case, since FAR fewer LEO's carry .40 and the market share is much smaller for it today than it was even a decade ago. It won't go away, but it won't be certain to be on the shelves and will be slow to return after a rush, since the machines will all be producing the common rounds.
I didn't run low on 9mm until earlier this year....now buying a five seven during the "plandemic" was a terrible mistake I made, couldn't find 5.7 for 6 months after my purchase
Um, yeah, but it’s 2024 now.
.410 is still extremely rare without getting gouged $
Even if it’s dead I wouldn’t want to get hit by one
I wouldn't want to "get hit" with even a .22 Short or L.R.! Or a Pellet gun round!

Stay away from rap music!
I wouldn't want to get hit by a black powder 6 pounder, and those are really obsolete, but they'd still kill, just like a sling and a rock. So would a W88 warhead, and they're not at all obsolete. This whole "Is the X the best/worst Y?" or "Is the Z obsolete?"etc etc etc question-titled videos are a lazy way to grab clicks. "Should team X start player Y on Sunday?", sports talk shows do it with their program segments too.
Just got my first gun today, picked up a m&p 40. Can’t wait to find a good range to test it at. So happy to finally be apart of the gun club

I can actually hear this 😂💀 ☠️
My department transitioned to the 40 cal in the early nineties. At my rank I was allowed to carry the model 27, both in plain clothes and in uniform. I found the gun to be accurate and I never had a recoil problem. As a patrol officer in my early days, I carried either a python or an S&W model 66.
A .357 KICKS. A 40 cal only Kicks. You get used to it.
On the street I carried model 22 mags in my mag pouch, so I never really felt that I was under-loaded.
I like 9mm weapons. I love the 40 cal round and 40 cal weapons. Either round is good. It’s a matter of preference, comfort and confidence in performance.
Thank you for the video sir.
Love my G23, it’s been good to me for years, still my main carry piece
Smart man.
Been very reliable for me as well. What holster did you go with?
Mine too
I have carried the G27 for years in a Galco Combat Master. Works for me.
I don't carry mine but I'm not getting rid of it any time soon.
You’ve been the same age since I started watching your videos 10 years ago ‼️
I was considering selling my .40 cal pistol recently. I searched for some comparison videos yesterday. Then today this came up in my feed and I thought it was an old video. At this moment it's only three hours old. It's like hickok45 knew what I was looking for! Humor aside on my part, thank you for your channel, reviews, and humor. You've been a joy to watch for many years. Thanks for the video that turned out to be very timely for me. I think I'll keep the .40 cal for now.
I bought several conversion barrels 40 to 9mm. Cheaper than new gun.
It costs nothing to keep it. You can only reasonably carry one handgun at a time. Who wants to own just one handgun?
@@L1A1 The thought was that I might sell and an older 40 cal for for a new 9mm shield or something like that. So I would perhaps perform a swap for something that I like a bit better. Though I don't take selling a gun lightly, so I've been thinking about it for a while.
@@bluetrue6062 This is a great idea.
@ you will lose money. If that doesn’t bother you, you should sell your well-vetted pistol for something unknown.
Agreed. Paul H’s 40 video was a classic. My old police department switched from 9 to 40 after testing how each did extensively, especially through windshields, etc. Ultimately, my department went back to 9 like everyone else did, but the purpose was for capacity and some officers scores were slightly better when qualling with 9. That said, those officers were the ones who rarely shoot unless they are qualifying or going through the shoot house etc. The 40 on a dueling tree shows the difference in power for sure.
40 is gt
Carried a 23 for the last 20 years of my law enforcement career and now carry it in retirement.
Thank you for you law enforcement service from me and all my family.
I carried the model 22 for the first 15 years of my career before we switched to the model 37 .45 GAP in 2007. Then switched to the model 21 .45 ACP in 2019 which I carried until I retired in 2022. But as for off duty I carried a model 23 since 1992 and carry it in retirement as well.

Thank you for your service🇺🇸🍻
So does my dad lol
The first handgun i bought was a 40cal Beretta px4 storm compact back in 2015. I don't regret buying and still have it this very day.
That's a familiar story
I sold my 40cal PX4 several years back, wish I would’ve kept it instead
I still have mine 😋
It’s alive and well. I went from S&W #13 revolver first to 10mm S&W 1076, then, was offered the opportunity to transition to .40 Glock #22. Never looked back. I still own and qualify on into retirement both a S&W M&P 40 (full size and compact), and just got another 500 rounds. I’m still a believer in “any round beginning with the number 4” is the preferred.
I love this channel.
"If it don't start with a 4, I don't want it no more!"

@davidkachel if it starts with 4 it must end in 5! Lol

It’s not.
Having been in a firefight, I can tell you that the person who hits their target first with a meaningful hit has a huge advantage, even if you have a .32 auto.
I love my 32
Correct
or a .22lr
Missing with the first shot has ZERO to do with recoil. So your point is a bit silly. Wanna get hit by a .32 or a .44? There IS a difference in what happens next. Quit claiming mouse guns are BETTER than powerful handguns. It's a stupid argument.
Fake
During every ammo crisis here in NYS, 9 and 45 would disappear first, with 40 staying on the shelf way longer. That's when I first bought a G23 and I don't regret it a bit
Always smart to buy in bulk and keep at least a crate or two for standby.
Yup I bought my first gun during a 9mm shortage but .40 was well stocked. Thats how I ended up with a g23

Thanks Hickock you just increased the value of my 40s with your approval of the 40 cal. Back when I was first getting in to pistols the 40cal was king. Own 9s as well now, but I still carry 40 cal.
The recoil of 40sw never bothered me.
I carry an Springfield EMP 40. Love it. I hate the fact that no new guns are coming out in 40SW.
S%W still has 6 pistols chambered in .40. Look at heir website. Springfield Armory also has offerings in .40.
I bought a S&W 411 at a garage sale for 300 dollars. And as I was leaving the LADY said stop. This goes with it. A 50 cal can. Had 100 rnds of FMJ'S. And 10 boxes of 180gr black Talons. OH YEAH 😊
About a month ago, I took a .40 cal carbine to a big gun store in my town just to see what I might get for it. Was thinking about putting that towards something I wanted. They told me they won't buy anything in .40 because it won't sell. That actually made me want to hold on to it. I've seen this type of thing swing back around with several cartridges.
Thank you ,sir. My S&W Shield in .40 has been my carry for many years.
i had that gun wow was it snappy and threw casings weird
@@jasonmiller4046 Versus your... Do you have another gun that you can compare it to? Otherwise it might NOT be the gun. It could be the operator...
@@dagthewog6290 I have one also. It's a love / hate with the Shield. It's easy to carry, light, thin, etc. But, the trigger is crap from the factory and it's snappy as hell. It's not me because I shoot NRA bullseye with 22 LR and I have no problem with my Sig's or HK's in 9mm. I have no real use for 40 at this point. Ammo for 9mm is as good if not better than 40.
Same I literally trust it with my life for MANY years
@@jasonmiller4046I have the 1st generation Shield and only shot it a few times about 6 years ago. I even ported it and replaced the guide rod and spring but never shot it after I did those things. I have the original trigger and sights. I preferred my service, full-sized XD 9102 because it was easier to shoot. My cousin even shot his 9mm and mine side by side and said it was about the same recoil. But to my surprise, I was shooting my Shield (which was snappier and more difficult to shoot) more effectively than my XD just recently! I figured that it was my determination to shoot it effectively after taking two classes back to back two weeks ago. I did poorly and was disappointed. The instructor suggested I change to 9mm but I was determined to get it right. Two weeks later both of us were surprised because I shot my Shield very effectively with all shots center mass in a tight group at 25 yards. I even shot a whole twice at least 2 times. Going to the gym for weight training and swimming has probably contributed to my improvement. It just goes to show that you might surprise yourself and improve even better than you expected.
I never went from 9 to 40. I just went to the 40 and stayed there.
The best handgun caliber in my opinion, everything you need or can ask for.
@mrfoxx6632 Agreed!

I enjoyed your comments,, I prefer my G23 over my G19, for similar reasons that you pointed out. For small carry, I do go with a Shield in 9mm.. 40 is just a bit too much for me to shoot well in a small gun, but my 23 gen 3 is perfect.. Thanks for the great work that you and your son do!!!
Amen. Exact same here. My old G23 is there for me when GA finally gets cool weather, perfect under a leather coat or wool pea coat (every man ought have a mil-spec pea coat…been in fashion for over 200 years! Haha!) but (as I’ve gotten older), not fun to lug around in GA spring and summer so my 9mm Shield rescues me comfort-wise. Heheh
Also…I’ve been through two dozen holsters for the 23 alone. I don’t dig IWB holsters. The official Glock holster rides SO high and SO tight. Love it!
Gen 3 G23 is the perfect gun
It's alive in every police trade in available to us. That's a lot of 40 caliber pistols at a lower cost. A whole lot of Glock's, Sig Sauer's, Smith & Wesson's, and even a few H&K's out there for sale and in ownership currently.
.40 cal usp with 6 mags for 650. I was looking for glocks but the police turned in a screaming deal.
I picked up a SW M&P .40 cal full-size on Gun Broker for $170. It was a law enforcement turn in.

there’s a certain nostalgia attached to it, knowing it was the go-to for law enforcement for years. It may not be the hottest round today, but it’s far from irrelevant.
Funny thing is it is actually the hottest of the big 3 pistol calibers
9mm 10mm why play in between
.40 is “obscure” now for the same reason .45 is…. $35+ for a box of plinking rounds.

I am lucky enough to own many firearms and a Beretta 96 and G23 are part of those and I really enjoy them both . The .40 is a great round for defense with the right ammo. Thanks for using your platform to promote them. 👍
I still have some old gun magazines from the early 90's that would proclaim stuff like "Revolvers are finished!", and "The .357 Mag will soon be obsolete!" I know a couple of guys who like to target shoot with the venerable .38 Super, which had it's heyday in the 1920's-30's. Some thinks will never go away despite diminished popularity.
.38 super auto is still the thing in IPSC open because it works really well with compensators. Fill it to the brim with powder and your open gun puffs like a choo-choo train (and stays flat like an airsoft gun)
Being retired law enforcement of 30+years, my last duty weapon was a Glock 22. Like most retirees my age we started our career with revolvers. The questions I'm going to ask is this, back in the revolver days cops used that same revolver for their entire career. Now the next one is this , if the 40 is so hard on guns why are cops constantly turning in their 9mm semi-autos every few years. Is the +P and +P+ 9mm ammo beating guns to death. The chamber pressures on the 9mm +P is the same as the 40 and I'm quite sure the +P+ 9mm is even higher.
The best part about the .40 S&W being less popular (either in perception or reality) is the prices on ammunition have come way down. 50 round boxes of Federal HST .40 S&W are roughly $5.00 less than the 9mm version. Since most of my EDC autos are .40 S&W, that's a win for me, and it allows me to always train with my carry ammo without fretting about the cost.
And eventually they will stop making that ammo and prices will surge.
Where are you finding the .40 cheaper?
@@BladePressureno way....too many 40 SWs in circulation!!
Where are you living? Here in NC 40 cal ammo is at least .50 per round double the price of 9mm

Such a social influencer you are. :) Still love my 40's. I still carry a 40.
When I retired in ‘97 our issued weapon was the Glock 23 but a few yrs ago the department retired them in favor of the newer Glock 19.
the glock 19 was around before the .40? Do you mean the gen 5 glock 19? newer model.
@ No, the G23 was chambered in .40 caliber while the G19 was a 9MM. Hope that answers your Q.
@skim193 ya, he worded it funny
Got a G23, 2nd ad.Loved the bang, but some places in 1991 didn't stock Ammo. Bought dies and reloaded mine on a Lee Turret. No problems, followed exact specs. Kept for couple years, then went to a G21. Miss that G23!
Hello sir. Just wanted to say thank you for years of vids and tons of knowledge. Thank you for what you do.
Beretta 96 folks - little known secret… the 9mm barrel fits perfectly in the slide. With a 9mm magazine it works like a 92.
The same is true of the Sig P226 chambered in .40. They sell the whole caliber conversion kit, but it's not necessary. You just need the 9mm barrel, recoil spring, and magazines.
I wonder if you'd ultimately need a different extractor and recoil spring if you wanted maximum reliability for carry.
That's why I love my G22. I found i like and shoot .40 well to begin with but the ability to swap over to what is essentially a G17 using nothing but an aftermarket conversion barrel and a G17 magazine is great. I have a 9 conversion kit for mine and it runs fine without even changing the extractor or recoil spring though YMMV. I found out you can even shoot 9mm out of .40 mags and it cycles but i never tested that with more than a few dozen rounds so I wouldn't trust my life to it.
It can also be converted to a .357 SIG (G31) if that's your thing or you want something a little spicier or exotic. The old Gen3/4 used police trade in G22s that you see at steep discounts are well worth the money, great defensive pistols to begin with but the ability to convert it to 9mm or .357 SIG with extreme ease adds another layer of value to them.
@@keithm5378this is exactly why I bought a Glock 23 over a decade ago instead of a 19
Good to know, I have a 96, Ima try this out.
Glock Gen4 23 stays in the nightstand and occasionally gets taking for “excursions”
Beautiful tool.
If my life depends on it I'd rather protect myself with a .40 S&W than a 9mm!
This 👆👍
Locally, I’ve only seen one “failure” with the .40 S&W, and that was a really messed-up “spray and pray” situation. The rest were successful defensive shootings involving one or two shots (on target). Even with older JHP bullet designs, it did what it was supposed to. As such, it was (and still is) a very-effective defensive round, for those who can manage it.
Not wanting to write a novel, but comments by some law enforcement individuals at 2024 conferences is that for those who had to use a sidearm, there was disappointment expressed in the 9mm and a desire to return to the .40 or .45, made mostly by the older individuals with experience.
Interesting.
My friends son has 4 tours of the desert and hates 9mm and 223.Says it takes way too many rounds to get work done.
Being the nerd that I am, I wouldn’t mind reading what you have to say should you happen to post said novel here.
I remember back in 1991 when our agency switched to the 9 mm Beretta 92, there were a lot of veterans who wanted the 45 ACP because they used it in Vietnam.
My local Sheriff's office which is a rural one here in eastern Oregon cowboy country issues the Glock 21 .45 to almost all patrol deputies and the Glock 40 caliber to some individuals in court security, corrections or parole.

Overall, I’m happy with it.
I prefer a larger grip.
For the record: the M&P 9 has the same grip size. The M&P series was built around the 40 S&W, then adapted down to the 9mm. The only thing they really changed is the magazine, barrel, and recoil spring. The M&P is a great pistol though, love my 40.

In my opinion .40 is far from dead. Its surprisingly a versatile cartridge. Likely a sales ploy to discontinue it because with a barrel or slide switch you easily can run .357 sig, 9mm and .22. Hearing you can also reload to 10mm capacity, pretty much making it a 30-06 vs .308 debate.
Most companies have dropped offering models in the caliber.

9mm ballistics have improved, but .40 ballistics have also improved.
.40 also makes an affordable practice round for 10mm pistols and .357 Sigs which have interchangeable barrels.
9mm ballistics have NOT improved- this is the fallacy. 9x19 has the same or even less energy than it had 30 years ago. Bullet performance against barriers is a bit better now but it was not that which led to effectiveness in stops. The 9BPLE is ancient but still a better round for terminal effect than the majority of "modern" bullets. People can watch video after video of high round count OIS's and continue to claim that 9x19 ballistics are worlds better than they were back when...9x19 was having high round count OIS.

Most people who hate on the .40 don’t know Jack about the ballistics or any of it. They think because the number “40” is in between 35 and 45, it must be some unnecessary thing in the middle.
It’s actually the best of both worlds.

.40 is just 10mm short! 9mm is faster, lighter, and higher capacity! 10mm is better than both in every conceivable way! .40 is for kneegros!
Bought a Sig P-250 .40cal in 2009, I grew up as a kid firing revolvers. got pretty good with them. In the military I was issued s Sig Legion, got pretty good with that one, and appreciated the capacity. The P-250 is DAO with no external safties, it's a self decocker as well. Best of both revolver and semi auto worlds. Still EDC my P-250, own a couple of other Signs as well as revolvers, and a Glock .45cal. Bought the wife one and she has gotten pretty good with it and carrys it every day. Long story short, I have seen the effects of 9mm and .40cal on stopping a threat. I have seen bad guys survive multiple 9mm hits, even hollow points, I have never seen one survive a .40cal double tap. That is why we carry .40's.

Yes you can feel the difference on both ends !
I bought my first 40s&w when the assault ban restricted new magazines to 10 rounds. If I can only have 10 rounds I figured it might as well be a larger caliber. The 40 is a great caliber and I like that the glocks can take a conversion barrel to shoot 9mm so I can use both calibers in the same guns.
I Have a G22. Bought it years ago, back when pistol ammo was way hard to find, except .40 cal. was everywhere. Mine was a LE trade-in for $269. FFL I transferred it through commented that it looks like a new one. So, I still have it. But my G17 is at my bedside - lol.
I was just talking to my friend about this the other day. 40 caliber along with small compact revolvers just seem outdated but yet they are still really cool!
As long as ammo is available it's Alive! I have a 40SW barrel for my Glock 357 and a 9mm barrel for more options.
New Presidential Appointment: Hickok45 for the Director of Glock Interpretation. Main qualification? Must be a badass!
It better not be .. I bought my Glock 23 because of YOU! lol
😂😂 hell naww
Thank you for another awesome video. I carried an M&P .40 and my brother carried a Ruger 9mm We went to a range one day and he shot my M&P. He no longer carries his 9.
First pistol I bought was a model 23 gen 3 in 2011. Carry a 27 concealed.
I watch a lot of different channels as far as shooting is concerned and I enjoy yours the most. Thank you for the content sir 🫡
I just bought a .40 2 weeks ago but it was lost in a terible boating accident. 😢
If you need to lie about your rights. You dont have them.
@YellowjacketGTO dude you caught me. It was a kayak not a boat. But I was trying to paddle right.
If you filled out a 4473 to buy the pistol, the ATF won't accept your story. And depending where you live, some states have requirements as to how long you have to report a missing or stolen firearm.
Jesus Christ you clowns it’s a joke.
Womp womp.
I like my 40’s. Glock 23 Glock 27 and Sig 226. Never had a fail to function in any of these three and I shoot more than most. I spend a good bit of money on ammo and instead of buying 9mm handguns I’ll just buy more 40 ammo. I agree with Hickock. More impulse when shooting but certainly no harder to control than a 9mm.
Just comparing Federal HST.
At the muzzle:
124gr 9mm is 364ft/lb
180gr 40cal is 408
230gr 45 is 404
At 50yds:
124gr 9mm is 303ft/lb
40cal is 364
230gr 45 is 374
It was always the in-between.
It is dying because of popularity.
Effectiveness is usually not the real factor in popularity.
They are ALL pretty close.
It's just what you shoot well, and what you prefer.
How about velocities for those 3 loads? That matters, if you're considering body armor levels and penetration of such.
Popularity may be a factor but to me is effectiveness of modern ammo with the slight bump in capacity for the same sized product
.40 was never in between 9mm and .45 ACP. The energy is right on par with .45 and you get more capacity. .40 is in between 9mm and 10mm.
@@dashcammer4322None of those are defeating modern soft body armor.
Glock 23 Gang Assemble
Just Bought 200 .40 rounds (86$) and 200 .9 rounds ($65) last week. The 40cal was 20$ more for same Round count. First thing I Got for my G23 was a 9mm conversion Barrel was like 60$ and extended the controls. Threw a Cheap Magpul Magwell Flare and a 3.5 spring in And now I have a Multiple Cal Firearm so Depending on How I feel Will I Carry the .40 or .9 today . Idc about Ballistic performance and Impact Analytics I care How much I have to Pay to Practice and Will it Stop A Threat….. 9 or 40 will Both Get the Job done
My carry gun is a Glock 23. I also have a couple of Sigs. All quality handguns
👍👍😎✌️🤟 I have mine under my pillow. Not going anywhere.
Long live the 10mm short!
😆
40. Short & weak
@@libruhmoment6387Oh, so you wouldn’t mind testing out how weak it is would you?
@djudson367 my tummy hurt
@@djudson367 It is shorter and weaker (when both are loaded to full SAAMI pressure) than the 10mm, that's not questioned.
@@libruhmoment6387 Before they adopted the 9mm, Germany was undefeated. Since then, they're 0-2.
2:30 LOL (on self-importance). Great channel and content. Thanks!
Really enjoyed, like the .40. Thanks
I've carried my old M&P .40 for years now, on and off the job. Replaced the magazine catch once about 4 years ago I think and the recoil spring twice, and the striker assembly once because the old gen 1's seem to break from dry fire. I saw where Smith & Wesson just released that new folding carbine in .40 with 20 round magazines so it looks like we might finally have a factory extended magazine option.
my 23 also has a 9mm barrel that I switch with no issues.
Actually before i purchase a gun I always like to get you opinion before hand! Thanks Hickok
40SW has about the same ballistics from the muzzle as 45Colt. Its within 100 joules of eachother. I like being able to expect uniform recoil patterns and results.
When I bought my first handgun for EDC, some RUclipsr was in love with the G27 and G23. Said they were his favorite handguns and he shot them very well. Even though he was from Kentucky, living in TN, he was able to influence me to go with the G27.4. Loved it, shot it weekly and became proficient with it. Then the RUclipsr decides to transition to the G26 / G19 as his new favorites for EDC. I was crushed, but followed the crowd. Turns out I love both the G26 & G27. The G26 is my EDC, the G27 is my weekend gun on the farm / in the woods. I just feel better in black bear county with the .40. I often find myself carrying the G27 as my EDC as well. Can’t go wrong with either.
Not dead for me. That’s what mainly carry
Imagine carrying less effective ammo 🤡 and less of it
@@Rangefinder211 Less effective than what? Definitely not less effective than 9mm. Bigger bullet, more energy on target, same bullet technology. .40 S&W will always have slightly better terminal performance than 9mm of similar design.
@@hartsickdisciplehe was referring to 45 ACP not 9mm.
@@alanzappa266 .40 S&W is not less effective than .45 ACP. Plus you get higher capacity with .40. .45 ACP is only relevant for suppressed applications because it's almost always subsonic.
@@Rangefinder211you’re a idiot if you think .40 is less effective than 9mm. Wow
Bought a Gen.2 22 when they first came out and fell in love with it. Recently Bought the Gen. 5 22. Love it as well. One thing I have noticed is when there's a Ripple in the matrix, and everyone heads to the ammo store for provisionsI,I usually have no problem finding the .40 ammo. Thanks for doing what you do.
My Department carried a SIG 229 in 40 S&W for years. I wasn't really a SIG man until I was issued that gun. The 40S&W has a very snappy recoil and can slow you down getting back on target when shooting fast. In a steel frame gun its pretty pleasant to shoot. That said, I had an H&K USP 40 that was just to light for the 40. The HK was very accurate but almost impossible to fast fire accurately as all its weight was in the slide which made barrel climb just awful. The Glock 27 was one 40 I should have never sold, as I loved that gun.
Love my 229. 7 round mag is a trade off for sure though. That gun is so comfortable to shoot due to the metal frame and beefy slide. My 9mm’s aren’t nearly as easy to handle because the polymer frames vibrate so darn much.
I've made sure to keep a .40 in my inventory since I got started back in the late 2000's. Having an extra barrel for .357 SIG was just icing on top. Incidentally, I recently postulated that a trade in Glock such as a 22 would make for a great starting point for handgun hunting with the right cartridges for someone on a budget. I don't know how good it would be but I suspect it could be a good challenge.
God bless america
God bless you Hickok
Have 1 ruger sr40 and 1 sr40c love them both. Daily carries, i love rugers and you vid made me decide on the .40 years back.
I love the g23
I like mine too
@@michaeldomangue438 Ditto,
First pistol I ever bought, 23 gen 4
...simple as.
I’m always impressed how well he shoots a handgun.
I bet he practices a whole lot more than 99% of his viewers, that's why he shoots so well.
I know local (suburban, where they carry SELF SUPPLIED pistols) cops that are still carrying .40 S&W and .357 Sig.!
I'm the same as you. I fell in love with the glock 23 from watching your videos years ago but eventually I fell in love with 9mm because of the cost of ammo and the extra capacity. I'll always have a soft spot for .40 though!
only reason for 40s&w in california is that the mag size limit is 10 rnds and don't need to buy special 10 rnd mags if i went 9mm.
That stupid law is what got us our modern subcompacts in the first place. If designs were to be limited to ten rounds, they might as well be ten big rounds or a 9mm small enough to only fit ten anyway. It's the only good that law ever did.
.40 ammo is about 100-150 dollars more a case in CA too. That’s why I switched to 9mm
I remember when 9 mm became very popular. But I also remember the crack epidemic. The way I heard it, 9 mm didn't have enough stopping power. All the police switch to 40s, and the 9mm they retired could be bought at the gun shows for $350. That was about the same time I bought mine, and the reason of kept it
