Kinda, but I can't shake the feeling it doesn't have much kick to combat from just videos. The mighty kick looks like a none-too-stiff breeze for example.

I really like this game. Unfortunately, not even the majority of Souls-like community know this game existence. It has problems with its advertising.

Yea what the hell about this game is souls like. NOTHING
It's FPP Souls-like to a much degree:
+ game design focus on high level of difficulty
+ has bonfire/save point elements with respawn enemies
+ essences or souls or certain all in oone currency use for exp & normal trades
+ Metroidvania levels
+ environment storytelling & lore
+ RPG leveling system
+ tactical/careful combat system
Even the devs themselves proclaimed the game to be souls-like & takes inspirations from souls-like games.
Who really decide what's souls-like or whatnot? Are you guys are so rigid with all this terms, tomayto & tomahto stuffs? That would be such a shame & elitists thinking imo.
question: did you guys even played the game in the first place??
They only play 3rd person camera view Souls-like games or made by Fromsoftware I guess

Hey Gmanlives, i would recommend you a Chilean game called "Zeno Clash" (2009) on Steam. It's super cheap and has a heavy focus on meele combat. The game was awarded back then and maybe it feels like an old game nowdays, but it has a lot of charm and is short (3-4 hours). ;)
This review actually made me wonder if he'd covered the Zeno Clash games, and oddly enough, he hasn't. I haven't played them, but the art style is _way_ more appealing than Elderborn's generic dark fantasy look.
Agreed, part 1 was more enjoyable than part 2. Perhaps because they didn't do that much in part 2 to improve the formula.

What bothers me that devs went with “flying camera” instead of proper body, so it’s kinda hard to judge whether or not you hit the enemy (especially with weirdly animated kick). It feels a bit worse than Condemned or Dark Messiah, since your weapons are “stickers” on screen and not in the same 3D space as enemies. Other than that it’s a solid experience.

Personally, I loved the towers because it really forces you to master the mechanics on the highest difficulty.
The kick at the beginning and the slomo beheading made my Dark Messiah sense tingle.

03:27 Not heard anyone say "Buy the farm" since about 20 years ago in London. Always enjoy the fact that Aussies have a lot of the same slang we use there. Brown Bread, browners, brown eyes, silly things like that while gaming. Euphemisms was a way to avoid bad luck by "calling it", "mocking it" but also so any police listening in down the pub would not know what you're on about.
Love to see a review of Post Void or Shrine 2, if you like classic FPS games with some really cool art directions they’re def worth checking out
I actually liked the narrow sequences. You can break the unlockable attacks with rip and tear, or a well timed kick. I never ran into an issue I didn't feel like I could out think.

The environment and setting is just so cool. It's pretty gnarly that in the catacombs, you are pretty much killing your ancestors. Everything about it is just cool.

This review got me to buy the game and honestly it was very enjoyable. I would say that combat gets better once you get in some damage and speed upgrades done as it is a bit sluggish in the beginning.

The idea of Bronze Age Sword and Sandal Punk is cool. The fact it's mixed with sci fi kind goes with that whole StarGate/Nephilim/Anunnaki idea about aliens coming down and starting civilization, posing as the gods of antiquity.
If I made a game that was based off of things like the Book of Enoch and Epic of Gilgamesh, I bet it would look like this, just replace half the enemies with half angel giants and reptilians sporting high tech weapons meant to resemble something arcane and magical.
Although I wouldn't push it too much, maybe the next Elder Scrolls could take a few notes on the melee mechanics.

An awesome game with a simple but immensly satisfying gameplay loop I replayed it quite a few times and still enjoy it just as much. Like I said before Robert E Howard would approve.

Could be just me but it feels a bit like first-person PoP Warrior Within - the font used, a bit of the scenery, and the character of these enemies with the scarf over the head and the shoulders. Does this game have any platforming?
Was going to go the BG3 route but, maybe this and let other folks pay to work through BGs pre release issues. Base version is $8.99 USD on Steam right now fyi.
