    Nice one - I got the 65mm version, they are so fast cutting through the win. No issue with crosswinds

    Thanks for the review. I'm eyeballing the 'new' 40cm carbon discs at $989 US and 1433 grams. I do hope they strike a balance on aero and weight and durability. They're 30mm wide and I have 30mm Conti 5000s. I once had a noticeably loud set of Mavics years ago, so meh. I tell you this, I wish I had something loud the other day as three people crossed right in front of me without looking. 🙄. I have a Trek Domane SL5 coming in right now at about 18.2lbs. I have a Giant Defy coming in at about 20.5lbs and this is where those wheels are going to go - the current wheels are oh so heavy. Good stuff - keep up us informed as you continue to ride these out.

      I definitely. Enjoy those new wheels. I absolutely love mine.

      I just pre-ordered the same, ETA 3 weeks+. I'm excited! Got them for my 2014 Specialized Crux, which I turned into a mostly road, occasional gravel bike. I'm just worried about the hub, I like quieter, thunkier hubs, but apparently they redigned the hub for the new 40 carbons.
      I'm going to mic up and record my freehub once i get them. Everybody wants to know what they sound like, and I only see verbal descriptions of the freehub sound.

    • @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre

      Yes I think the hubs are different now compared to the ones I have

    Thanks for the review! I have a similar set up to you and thinking about these wheels...
    Just wondering if you (or anyone reading this) knows the practical difference between these and their "Aerodynamicist" line. Its a little hard to decipher.
    Also, how has the durability been? I live in cobble-filled Belgium so low maintenance is another important factor for me.
    Thanks

      The aerodynamicist line is supposed to be a level up from these. They are a little wider than these too. Never had an issue with these. Love them.

      I have the 54mm Aerodynamicist wheels and the internal width is 20mm vs 19mm, not a big deal. The cross section of the rim is more U shaped than the regular rim profile.

    Hi! Nice review, I just put the same wheelset on my trek domane couple days ago and the freehub is super quiet actually, you have any idea why is that or they have changed them? Have great day🎉

      @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre  7 месяцев назад

      At one point I know hunt was offering wheels with the option of choosing a loud or quiet freehub. Not sure if that is still an option and maybe you chose the quiet one?

      It’s based in the estimated value of the good you’re bringing into the country. That’s my understanding. So it’ll depend on how much the wheels buy cost

    In debating on these (50 deep wheels) or the 40’s. Have you had a chance to ride these in crosswinds? If so, Do you find these wheels twitchy? I weigh 150 pounds. Thanks!

    • @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre
      @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hi honestly not twitchy at all. If it was a ridiculously windy day and gusting at (40-45 km/h) really high speeds, I would say that you just need to be alert cause you’ll feel that but not too the point where you would feel nervous. In normal wind conditions, there is nothing to worry about and if anything you feel the sail effect more than anything else.

      @@AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyreI have an Al5 Domane and I want to upgrade my stock Bontrager tires. I thought about the Aeolus pro 51 but these are a no brainer since they are lighter and much cheaper also coming with a 48t ratchet. Thanks a lot!

      Dunno if you bought them yet but 40 is a good middle ground that gives you both the benefits of good acceleration and aero gains. So if you do a lot of rides where youre constantly stopping and starting. 40's will be better for you due to the lack of extra rotational weight with the 50's and still allow you to fly up hills. If you mainly ride flats then 50s are great although I would probably stick with 40s if there is a lot of stopping and starting involved.
      I weigh more than you and ride 55mm's. crosswinds have never been a problem for me although I always have my hands on the bars to course correct if I do get blown around. A lot of the talk about deep rims catching the wind and throwing the rider into the direct path of an oncoming car is so overblown and honestly an urban myth these days due to wheel design. When its windy, keep both hands on the bars and you'll be fine. Youre not going to shoot into the sky like E.T

    • @eastmanrivai-naiksepeda450
      @eastmanrivai-naiksepeda450 8 месяцев назад +2

      I have the 65mm and no issue with moderate crosswinds so far. What about gusts above 50 kph? I always try to avoid cycling in this situation, it impacts me regardless the deep of the wheels I ride. When I get caught in this situation, I reduce my speed, ride slowly, stay focus and go home :).

    Going to run 30 tires. Biggest differennce between 40 and 50 if I’m going to be riding road and concrete trails only? Down to hunt or ican both either 40 or 50.

    I think you may have misspoke. You said the fully outfitted pair of wheels(rotors, tires, tubes) weighs 1750g and the wheels alone are 1480ish. What kind of rotors, tires, tubes are you running??

    • @Maxboyrm85
      @Maxboyrm85 4 месяца назад

      The rotors look like dura ace / xtr - tyres are conti gp5000 clinchers and no clue on tubes…
      I got these wheels on pre-order, and have calculated the full weight to be 2.5kg with tubeless tyres (gp5000s tr), 105 cassette and the same xtr / dura ace rotors

    Ordered a set of "Team Edition HUNT 44 Aerodynamicist Carbon Disc Wheelset". They came scratched and had different spokes then described on the website. Hunt said, oh, that was a failure on the website, there are no aero spokes on these aero wheels. Made complete sence to me. Send the wheels back, got another pair after weeks of waiting. Had to tell Hunt better put a plastic bag around the wheels so they wont get scratched again. Second pair had a big scratch on the hub even so they where well protected this time, so they has to have been scratched before transfer. I thouh, well its a minor thing, put the wheels in the bike without tyres to check them out, and oh my gosh they where out of true. Contacted Hund again, took them weeks to answer again, just to tell me, well use a sharpie for the blemish of the hub and go to a mechanic to let the wheels true. What a brand, what a service. Thank you so much. Ah and as if its not enough, when you want to send the wheels back you can not simply go to DHL or elsewhere with a retoursticker, oh no, you have to stay at home and wait for UPS to pick them up.

    • @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre
      @AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre  10 месяцев назад

      Sounds completely unlike my experience and I’m sure the return shipping is covered and you can take them to a courier. This could be dependant on the area you live in.

    • @kmmntrls
      @kmmntrls 10 месяцев назад

      @@AllThingsSportsMikeMcIntyre The shipping was only "covered" after is specificaly asked for it, and i specificaly asked for a returnlabel. Because the first time i had to send those wheels back i got the ups pickup service. Which is far away from customer friendly. You have to name a day, and stay at home at this day in order to give ups the chance to pick up the box between 9 and 17h. In other words you have to be on hold for a whole day. the customer service wasnt able to just send me a returnlabel for dhl to just give the box to a nearby postal service. it is insane. they could have just give me a reasonable refund and all would have been ok, but no. just stupid answers like "you could just cover up the scratches on the hub with a black sharpie".
