- We did the first motor oil change on this beautiful new Ram 3500 6.7 liter Cummins. The Cummins turbo diesel engine takes 12 quarts of 5W-40.
We change the motor oil to Amsoil signature series Max Duty diesel motor oil. We also did Amsoil diesel treat all in one fuel additive.

That's the hardest thread on filter location I've ever handled.
Basically you need a super long breaker bar with the oil filter cap
Come to the filter place and get you a filter cap so you don’t spill used oil on your truck and it makes a handle to pull the filter out. 👍🏻
They have a plug for the oil filter when take it off . That keeps oil from going all-over the place .
under the passenger seat behind the jack it comes with a special funnel for that cap-less fuel tank.

Is my first diesel truck so don't know much about this diesel engine but one of my many questions is everything how many miles is recommended chance the oil 🛢 filler ect. ?
This truck a use for pull a dump trailer 7k pounds about 4 times a week .

That fuel tube has a dbl flap..found that out the hard way too...good job explaining..funnel is under passenger front seat.
While under warranty I’m told to keep receipts, and change oil every 15k or 6 months. How will ram warranty if you go a year? I’d like to switch but concerned about warranty issues

K&N oil filters with the nut for the win on this situation
At $12 a quart, that $144 for just the oil. The filter is $22. $166 for an oil change not including labor.
Keep in mind that oil change last two times the OEM interval and you get better gas mileage
I only pay $9 as a preferred customer!

Thin oil for a pickup that doesnt work.
You can lose your oil pressure pretty easy if you overheat it or run too thin of oil.

Actually, 5w-40 is essentially the same weight (40) as 15w-40 at operating temperature. The good thing about 5w-40 is that in cold (freezing) temperatures, the oil is thin enough on startup to get to critical parts very quickly. If you're always in warmer temps it really doesn't matter.
