I have the same watch! what's funny is I have never seen anyone with this one. most have the brushed cased not polished models. I bought mine back in 2005 and I always thought it was possibly fake because of polished case until I took it for service at rolex and it was confirmed genuine.
You might have hat the 5-digit Datejust in mind which did Sport a cross Cut finish in the lugs where the newer 6 digit iteration than came along work a slight wider case and polished lugs.
This is simply beautiful. So classic. I could not decide which was for me between this one and the 116234 because I really dont have anything gold tone in my accessories like my bracelet, neck chain and wedding band which are all silver tone/white gold but I liked both. Ultimately went with the 116234 but I could not decide and so might as well save a buck. But I love your reference. It I feel is the style people first associate with the watch.
Hi Venus Dee, thanks a lot mate, the 116234 is beautiful and goes with the most accessories, it’s a beautiful watch, I do like a lot that one with the sunburst blue dial. I do wear a yellow gold ring and do Gabe white and yellow gold accessories so the TT suits me very well. And, well, I am an 80s child so can’t deny that 😂 Greetings, Konstantin
The datejust is timeless quality the 41 does not look right to me somehow, was considering this over an earlier version. I think the lugs are slightly wider and the concealed clasp is a nice feature.
Joseph Torres, true, i prefer the proportions of the 36mm version. The plus of the DJ41 jubile is though the easy link and micro adjustments which the hidden clasp bracelet doesn’t have.
I agree I like the look of the 36 but I’m too large of a person for the 36. I just ordered the 41 like this. If only they made a 39mm it would be PERFECT
Thank you for this video. Was considering the 41 mm version to this. But this particular model with the invisible jubilee bracelet, I’m hooked. And with the 41 holding value at or near 10k-12 , I’ll save 5k getting this model.
Thanks for your comment, be aware that Rolex has introduced last year at Basel a new 36mm DJ. Still, the 116233 is to me the best DJ Thanks to the slight bigger lugs and the integrated clasp it wears bigger than 36 and is an elegant piece. Go for it 🙏🏻
It’s a 2014 one so the 6 digit Version so it sports the super jubile and has wider life, the 5 digit references are older, these jubilee tend to have more stretch later on and the lugs are smaller with a cross polish were my version has the mirror polish
The quintessential Datejust - beautiful! So, is the hidden clasp ONLY on the 36 now? That's great if that's the case because I would only buy the 36mm.
Hi buddy, unfortunately the current 36mm version sports the same clasp as it’s bigger brother some thing I cannot understand as especially the integrated bracelet version was an awesome look
It’s definitely a gorgeous watch but I flipped it in the end. Sort of miss ist bit something there just didn’t work for me to be honest. Double tragic as Rolex discontinued also the integrated bracelet they used on that one with the presentation of its successor
@@mb-watches i also dream of a daydate but afraid it will be a bit too much. I am 40 now so even if I buy it then i see myself selling it when i am in my late 60s so value retention is important. So i am looking into two tone options. I wear watches in the 38-39mm zone and my explorer mk ii is my favourite watch. I have tried a 36mm dj a couple if times but it always looked small on my wrist, even though my wrist is only 17cm but is kind of flat so I can wear watches upto 44 comfortably. My AT at 41-42 wears decently well on me without overhang. So I need to try a two tone in the metal before spending more time lusting after this watch. Anyway this will be an occasional wear watch so may not make the cut in the end. But i loved your video and you have a great eye and ability to see through the clutter of obvious watches.
Thanks Buddy, really appreciate it. Well maybe the DJ just isn’t for you. The DD ist a gorgeous watch, but if the 36mm DJ already feels small on your wrist this counts as well for the DD. Especially if you compare my version which has a lil bit blow up case the regular 36mm DD feels smaller on the wrist. Maybe you make another attempt and consider the Yachtmaster in two tone? It’s a stunner, more elegant in terms of the case shape as the regular sport models and has a nice wrist presence. Let me know what it will be in the end, hope i could help a bit there and keep in mind that there are different other watches out there beside Rolex. The new Tudor Royla Two tone comes up in my mind there too by the way...
I did purchase mine in 2014, but am not sure about the production year. Even though the 36mm references are 116233 for this particular model, if you like the former version that was the 16233. You can buy the regular 116233 in store the older ones as well, check out there for example Christians shop from asktnh, he has some beautiful vintage DJ’s in his online store.
As I said beforce I appreciate your efford filming such detailed videos espially for the german watch community even if I comment on your english one. At the moment the Omega Speedmaster reduced is making me really nervous :) Coincidentally you have this watch you could show and talk about it. Regards Neal Caffrey ( UF )
Moin Digga, I am happy you liked that vid. The speedy reduced is a cool watch but I do prefer the speedy Professional. On the one hand I like the manual movement, on the other i think the Modul chronograph which they mount on the ETA is not an optimal solution. Harder to maintain and as well the pusher do not align with the crown. I made a review of my speedy before but don't have the reduced, but maybe I can make a battle of reduced vs. The professional. If i can help you out in the meanwhile send me PM in the Uhrforum or to my channel maIl. Cheers Neal🙏🏻😁
A comparison of both watches would be interesting! In the future I will buy one of them and I like the reduced a bit more cause of the size it´s a bit smaller ... Have you planned in the future "Genuss"- videos like wine tastings or sth like that; or classic men´s wear review?
That I actually did plan. Have in the one hand a nice Oppermann briefcase here, and need to get some of my suit jackets refitted. As well have a knife review in plan but shortly I am going to make my first viewers watch collection review. The liquor run from Christian is what I do like a lot but it's no fun alone ...
Nice review/overview of a beautiful watch ! No doubt that Rolex Datejust is very, very nice dress watch that doesn't look ostentatious, despite champagne dial. It is a little bit small for you wrist, I should say, but that is not a flaw for a dress watch. I have no doubt that you still like it very much but the question is: does it receive enough wrist time these days?
Thanks mate, that is the why I sell. I doesn't . Still I am in love with as design history and quality are awesome. But, if it's worn just seldom, it needs to go...happy you liked the review 😊
Mike Workman, yes and no. Due to the more bulky case it isn’t too small but it appears more like jewellery in this version. I think I wouldn’t have sold a 116200. It’s hard to answer but maybe you get what I mean.
Hey thank you for the review, tolles video:) I'm still torn between your watch the 116233 which has such a beautiful dial, that videos just cannot show, and the 36mm day-date. Having owned the watch for a good while, are you still happy with your choice, and happy to have bought this one, and not the full-gold day date? Thank you:)
thorpedrof1, thanks a lot👍🏻👍🏻 Well, the big pro of the DJ is that you have a better contrast between the steel and the gold. I love the dd but I think the TT is the way to go, the DD can be sometimes a bit too much. If you go DD I think you should go silver or white dial to at least have a bit of a contrast between the case and the dial.
Thank you for your answer. I will order the DJ now, as online orders can be returned without any reason, so i can have a good look. I remember when i first saw the dial on the DJ, in a shop window i actually couldn't believe how beautiful it looks. It makes the watch look so much more expensive, and the changing contrast makes sure, it's never boring. My grail would be a 18038 80's DD from miami, as i'm a big miami vice fan haha, but just cannot find the right one /dial-hands-good bracelet/, and the search has been on for years. Funny enough, Derrick used to wear a YG rolex too, while Harry Klein in the series was sporting a gmt master pepsi, like Tom Selleck in magnum :) My other grail was a 96 Omega Speedmaster Mk40, which i bought from a jeweller a few clicks from imola. It was a watch Michael used to wear during the first season with ferrari. It gets the most wrist time so far:)
thorpedrof1 the 18038 is the Derrick watch 😂😂 true🙏🏻👍🏻 and Harry as the German Magnum? Well ... 😁😁 Good choice and let me know when you got the DJ, the watch just is stunning especially in this combination and very elegant too, maybe you’ll find one day the perfect DD but still than the two would work great as a pair 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@mb-watches I still keep coming back to this video time after time. This is propably the best on youtube showcasing the watch. I did get this DJ and didn't keep it as it felt like it wasn't delivering, but now having had almost all rolex models i have to say this is one of the best pieces when the combination of "old" and modern is considered. I really enjoyed your PRX video, just considering the ice blue one. How do you find yours, do you still enjoy wearing it?

rolli mundi not everyone is trying to prove to be rich, they are well made watches with great quality, and you can sell them back and still make money.
I was considering this watch...and your video here pushed me over the edge. Picked one up yesterday. Thanks for the great video.

It’s the truth, I’ll be doing one too once I’m done with the move to our house and stuff, but that’ll be somewhere around the fall or something :)
