    I had to bring my blue one to the watchmaker. The lady I handed it over to was wearing a Rolex OP with a pink dial, but when she saw this, I could see her raising her eyebrows a bit like: "wow, what's this?". This thing looks like it could be several thousand dollars at a glance, and especially if they hear its fancy name ;)

    I returned mine in the end. Amazing piece for the money, but I did a typical newbie watch collector mistake. I bought a watch because I thought it seemed like an amazing watch, but I didn't really have use for a dress-watch that often at all, and I wasn't really comfortable wearing that style of watch day to day.

      I bought my bambino because I have an everyday and a beater. I’m happy with three.

    I have a Orient Bambino Version 4 blue dial and bought it for the 22mm lug and bigger size, but decided today to buy a version 3 when I seen on Amazon a Grey dial for $80 new. I thought it was a mistake when I looked on Long Island watch website and it was onsale their for $150. I immediately bought it and added a few extra straps. I put a mesh strap on my version 4 and love it. I also change it up with a brown and a black alligator strap. I love the brand. I just subscribed and like your content

    I agree with your opinion on Orient. The fact that they only use their own engineered movements ranks way ahead of micro-brands. They are watch company that are truly watch-makers. This was how it was when Hamilton was a true watch-making company.
    I just bought my son this version 3 in grey for his birthday. The grey dial is less eye-catching at first glance than the blue, but it equally plays with reflections.

    I have a black one like this and I like it very much. I have an Orient Ray II with a blue dial which is also very nice.

      Of the original Bambinos it's mine too... but I really like the small seconds version.

    For me, I love the version 2 and five with small second.
    Because it really classic design, and simple.
    Thx.

    I love the Virson 5 probably because it reminds me of pocket watch with those Arabic numerals.

    Look at the news Timex Marlin . Beautiful mechanical watch for around $200 to $250

    • @JusttheWatch
      @JusttheWatch  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah I agree the new Marlin is definitely another good contender in this price range. Shane over at Relative Time just dropped a great review on it.

      I am wearing a citizen black eco drive dress watch now . I have a few other watches also but I do not own a mechanical watch like my dad did . I think it is time to get one .

    • @JusttheWatch
      @JusttheWatch  5 лет назад +1

      @@davidcoleman2463 I started out with quartz watches, now I'm maybe half quartz, half mechanical. I think it's worthwhile to have at least one mechanical watch, and a dress watch is a good choice. I have a Citizen Nighthawk eco drive and that's maybe my favorite watch in my collection.

      I remember my father had a few good mechanical watches . I think he gave me one . For the life of me I do not know what happened to it . Years ago a man would wake up and look at his watch, wind it before he even said good morning to his wife. Lol.

    What I dont like about the gen 2 is that the movement is very loud. Any move of the wrist and you feel and hear it winding. It's a very light watch, but it wears rather large. Is this the case for this version?

    • @JusttheWatch
      @JusttheWatch  5 лет назад +1

      The movement is noticeably louder than most other automatic watches I've worn. I didn't feel like it wore too large for me, but I have larger wrists.

    I've got the small seconds Bambino. Great and beautiful looking watch. However, I think Orient should make one without a date and maybe just a millimeter or two smaller. You live in Japan, can't you go and talk to them? ;-)

  • @rythiel

    At some angles it appears that your straps are brown. Did they offer this or did you replace them?

    • @JusttheWatch
      @JusttheWatch  5 лет назад

      I picked up a brown strap so that I could have the option of either black or brown depending on what I was wearing. Probably should have clarified that in the review!

    Citizen NH8350 i think is a better watch, it looks simple and elegant, also with right demmentions...

    • @JusttheWatch
      @JusttheWatch  5 лет назад

      Hadn't seen that one before but after looking it up it seems like a worthy contender to the Bambino. Especially nice to see a metal bracelet option in that price range.

    • @MRbeqa100
      @MRbeqa100 5 лет назад +1

      @@JusttheWatch On creationwatches.com or dutyfreeislandshop.com you can finde your favorite color and dial choice of NH8350 for about 100$-105$ with solid stainless steel bracelet or leather strap, demmentions are standard 40mm case 20mm lugs, also workhouse automatic movement with hand winding, no hacking but it does have day and date complication, bambino have only date. It is preferential, there is nothing wrong about Bambino, but i prefer Citizen NH8350

    • @JusttheWatch
      @JusttheWatch  5 лет назад

      @@code6400 actually they do in a way. Miyota is owned by Citizen so they make their own movements, they just also sell them to other brands just like Seiko does.

    • @JusttheWatch
      @JusttheWatch  5 лет назад

      @@srkgv It might be a little big for formal situations, but I think totally fine for casual or business attire. I did a video awhile back showing different watches on different wrist sizes, and this was one of the watches I looked at, so if you watch it you can see exactly what it looks like on a 6.5 inch wrist: ruclips.net/video/bOJGvrFdh_g/видео.html

    IMHO What makes a great dress watch! No second hand, no date. simple elegant! why? Going out, tux on, pull out your dress watch wind and set time go! Home, take off forget! When your out you don't need to see the date or seconds or anything that deviates from simple two handed time. have seconds if you need them but not necessary PS No bigger than 40mm, better 38-39 .

    Wow thats a great bambino. And I don‘t think that those new Chinese kids on the block can ever compete with a serious manufacturer like Epson/Seiko/Orient. You maybe pay a little bit more but you have a reliable brand behind and not a Chinese backstage crap.
