To be fair, the rounds were hitting pretty consistently in the same place. I’d surmise the rifle was zeroed with a different round and the point of impact was just a bit different with the tracers. It’s a common occurrence, regardless of the shooter.

I had one since it came out and it's been flawless shooting almost all supressed. Very light weight, adjustable gas block, and decent two stage trigger. Was just over $1,000. In contrast, a few years ago, I got a POF Revolution that won't run despite two trips back to the factory (they're local) and over 700 rounds trying to get it to run.

I have a POF Rogue with about 400 rounds through it. Weighs only 5.9 lbs and is (so far) flawless. Works with both range ammo and defensive ammo. They say to use heavy bullets, but I’m not getting any rounds sideways( again so far). The recoil is minimal for a .308. I have no experience with AR-10s, so I can’t compare. I handled an SFAR at a LGS and was turned off by the generic fit and finish. That price is tough to beat, though one generally gets what one pays for.
If I paid north of $2500 for a POF Revolution, and there were issues, I’d keep sending it back until I had a reliable firearm. But that’s just me.

Good job, John. Thanks for the demonstration. Appreciate the reasoning about how important owning, carrying, shooting a 7.62X51MM auto loading rifle is to an individual. For those who haven’t carried six thirty round mags of 7.62 (.308), compared to six thirty rd. mags of 5.55MM, it’s something to consider.

The arc of the bullet from the tracer rounds at 230 yards was kinda mesmerizing. It had me wondering what you were lobbing across the range. It looked like more bullet drop than .308 specs call for and appeared slower than I would have thought a .308 to be. It was optical illusion I guess. Very interesting. Thank you for this presentation. It was educational and entertaining.

Tracers are meant to give you a 'rough-idea' of where your non-tracer rounds are going, but they are never going to be as 'accurate' as the non-tracer rounds. They are meant to help guide you to the correct area, not be a laser-pointer :)

Picked up mine with the 20" barrel about a week ago. It really is all it's made out to be. Solid little gun, and definitely a good buy. You know it's a .308 (as opposed to .223) when shooting, but easily forget when carrying. The muzzle brake is quite annoying to anyone else on the firing line. Suppressor helps, but the shooter easily is gassed out.

After hunting a few days straight my neck hurt a lot. Sold that DAR Deer Assault Rifle and have gotten the SFAR in 16.5 barrel. Assault rifle because I assault deer with it. Have gone as light as possible with scope and mounts and sling. Hopefully saving a few pounds. That’s significant. The other option POF rogue was 500$ more retail. POF revolution is 1000$ more. Ruger trigger is better than I had, front stock feels better, butt stock is tighter, upper to lower is tighter.

I like it . I had one of the first ar 556 plain Jane . Probably had it a year and a half . It started shootings to the left . Called ruger , the sent me a box AND the shipping labels. Got the gun back quickly, said they put a new barrel in it . Went to the range , shooting tight groups but to the right now . Ruger sent more shipping labels . About a week later they emailed me a picture of a target they had shot with it , looked good . Said they had put a new barrel in it . I said that’s fine if it’s shooting like that now . But why would a (another) new barrel make any difference. Emailed me a couple days later and said they were shipping my a new model to my ffl dealer . So a new model and after all of that I just paid $20 to my ffl for the new transfer fee. I went and bought another ruger ar556 while my old one was being repaired . Anyway with Ruger standing behind their product like that . I’m thinking of getting their 16” ar10 now . Whether I need it or not lol . Have a blessed day all . Stay prayed up and loaded up . 🙏😀💕

Nah, .308 is still roughly twice the cost of .223 per round right now. It's always hard to tell why certain trends occur, but with the quick rise in popularity of AR-style pistols came an accompanying rise in interest in 30 caliber projectiles. And alongside that, since 2020 there's been millions of new gun owners, many buying an AR-15 as their first gun. So it might make sense to some of those new gun owners to look into other AR pattern rifles like the AR-10?

@@Belial69699 do you mean 7.62x51, which is basically NATO standard .308? Or do you mean 7.62x39, the AK boolet?

@@theKashConnoisseur I was referring to the 7.62x51. I've personally noticed that 308 is almost always more expensive than the 7.62x51 round. But yes, 308/7.62x51 is more expensive than your 223/5.56 rounds. But depending on which platform you prefer or depending on which suits your purpose (AR-15 or AR-10) the ammo may be more expensive than the other.

    • @theKashConnoisseur

@@Belial69699 I guess it makes sense, seeing as 7.62 NATO would probably have a lot of military surplus supply, being a NATO standard. Makes me wonder why 5.56 isn't cheaper than .223 for the same reason though.

I kept blowing barrel nuts so my gunsmith sent it savage and they replaced the upper and all they said is I guess you can't shoot steel case so don't or they want warranty it again. No reason as to why no disclaimer when you buy to not shoot steel case so yeah that.

My brother has the Ruger 556 Pistol and it feels the same way. The Ruger feels heavier than my M&P15 Sport, but if you look at the stats its 6.2 Lbs v 6.4 Lbs. I think its got to do with Ruger's handguard being a tad heavier, which results in an inbalance which feels different/off.

I have a 16 inch model. It has been jamming(failure to feed jam, It’s pinching the round right at the bottleneck taper) with Aguila 150 grain 308’s and Winchester white box 76 2 x 51 somewhat more than I wanted to jam. It also doesn’t want to hold back on the last round. Hopefully I just need to keep running some Rounds through it.The more I run through it the better it’s been getting but it’s still disappointing right off the bat when buying a $1200 rifle. Don’t get me wrong I love Ruger that’s why I bought their 308. But still you know what I mean
