Music was good, but let's be real, NYC was the WORST CITY IN THE WORLD back then. Ghettos were in such a state of abandonment people were actually living in ruins (and I mean post-bombardment ruins!), garbage was piling up on the streets to the point of making certain roads undriveable, crime and drug use was at an absolute all-time high, the water and electricity systems worked 1 day out of 3, you could die from literally anything on the way home. I often dream of experiencing the 70s, but if there's one place I wouldn't go to in a million year in this period, it's definitely NYC.
The happiness was in the music. The “togetherness” was formed by the words. The lyrics exuded sexual attraction, not sexual anger and violence like I hear in some lyrics today. I heard music coming out of a parked car that still shocks me. “F--k that b--h in her mouth!” Total misogyny. Pure hatred.
Bee Gees made the greatest soundtrack to this movie, It was the Highest Grossing album off all time! before Michael Jacksons "Thriller" And Yes John Travolta was a Heart Throb Welcome Back Carter was his debut Those was the Days!! HBO has a Documentary out now on the Bee Gees worth a watch, they made songs you wouldn't believe.....
I’m 53 and you made me laugh out loud by myself with the initial reaction. Travolta was the man back in the day and a seriously talented actor. Great reaction! Thank you
You are sweet. Those were good times. We danced and loved life, We have to get back to it. I can't believe we have gone down the road of being made to hate each other over bs. Thank you, sending love to you Tysheen.
My old man always talks about going to the discos all around Chicago here. He was a rocker that also loved disco which was controversial at the time lol
Great reaction, Tysheen! Cool moves! You would have liked it back then. We did dance and had a lot of fun when we were growing up, here in Canada. We all have pictures of each other wearing those clothes, so, just to remind each other🤠. God Bless you!
Lol I cant forget it was filmed in my neighborhood that was my whole family... Brooklyn Italian in the houseeeeeeee.... lol. And yes Italians REALLY WERE THAT WAY!!!!! LOL. I actually went dancing in that club a few years later and the removed the part of floor that they put in for the movie the floor was originally the size of a postage stamp. I even went to dance classes at the dance studio they practiced in. Almost nothings the same in Brooklyn anymore it started changing like 10 or 15 years after this movie came out. And YES Italians really were that way I know I'm Italian lol.
....there is something going down.... and I can feel it.... you're reaching so meager and the feeling is right.... The night fever....we know how to do it.
Really enjoyed watching this with you my friend. Pure class shown here... something we are severely lacking these days. The clothes, the manners, the dancing... just so much fun. Excuse me while I go hit the subscribe button. Take care now. 👍🏽
I remember how shocked, and confused I felt when I saw this film.Raw disturbing scenes, with the fabulous Bee Gees soundtrack, and the battle for dance honours. There was nothing like it.
It was fun. Every Friday night getting home from work, getting ready to go out dancing. Had an apartment with 3 girlfriends and we had such good times. We would dance 'til they closed the club. So great seeing younger generations discovering music of the 70's and 80's. Keep exploring.
Yeah, we did as you say. No phones, no computers, no distractions. We wore suits and the women dresses. How do you make babies without holding each other? It’s supposed to be......FUN. The bills come later.....lol
Preach On Tysheen...Preach On... NOTHING & I MEAN NOTHING LIKE OLD SCHOOL REAL MUSIC & REAL PEOPLE...NO COLOR BARRIER...NO GENDER CONFUSION...JUST REAL MEN WHO KNEW THEY WERE MEN & PROUD TO BE REAL MEN & REAL WOMEN WHO ACTED LIKE REAL WOMEN & WERE ALSO PROUD TO BE REAL WOMEN HAVING A GOOD TIME!!! I feel so BLESSED to have grown up in this AMAZING & AWESOME ERA OF MUSIC!!! I've said this before & I'll say it again...I THINK THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST YEARS OF MUSIC WAS 1976-1982... THE GREATEST!!! Much love from Mobile Alabama.
When The Bee Gees music was made before the movie was even Green lit to be made. The Bee Gees made these as standalone music for a future Album of Theirs. The Songs were picked and History was made. Like 2 ships in the night colliding. Perfect storm of good timing Im 56 now. I was 10 then in 9 in 1976 when this took over and you could feel the energy It was a very intense Decade for a kid even at that age.Everyone was different and had better communication skills. Then da ncing become a measurement of your Value as mate. This eventually made it impossible to interact. By the year 2000 you had a generation that really had no dance skills. Different music that could not dance too.Last time I danced was 3 grade square dance. I have no sense of truly dancing. I watch the movie or Dancing with Stars. Basically The dance movement. I made a 😁 Funny craze was ending by 1980.I graduated in 1985. I missed this interaction socially. Good Video 😎
John Travolta dance skills are out of this world, check his dance performance on "you should be dancing" , also from the Be Gess. And this emoji 🕺🏻 was inspired on Travolta moves on the movie Saturday Night Fever.
The cinemas were SOLD OUT FOR MONTHS AND MONTHS AND MONTHS AND the only way to watch it was to kick the fire exit door open.Seen by many as the greatest movie of all time due in mostpart due to The Bee Gees music.
The Bee Gees are incomparable and legends. They are featured in the Book of Guiness as the most successful songwriters of all time. Sir Barry Gibb was knighted by Prince Charles as the most successful composer and performer of all times.
I wish i could go back to those day's. I found your channel yesterday i love it im going to support your channel. You are around my era i could talk about the 80s so many memories. God bless

I saw this in the movie theater when it came out. This really brings back memories- seeing Lennys pizza and all the scenes in bay ridge really took me back. Great times...
My club/dancing days were exactly like this. Fabulous music. We were all there to have fun and shake it till 6am. Never any hostilities and everyone mixed together on the dance floor. Are people saying its not like this any more? Sad if true.
This is from the 70's not 80's and the music is the BEST AND ONLY dance music ever since it is played by rEAL Musicians with REAL instruments. it is called DISCO!! DISCO RULES!!!
This was the late 1970's and a very fun time. At my school 1976-80 every Wednesday lunch time in the assembly hall we would close the curtains and have a DISCO for 1 hour. Exactly this period, Grease was then a hit too, oops upside your head was a classic. So a shout out to Alderman William Derbyshire, Bulwell, Nottingham - great times
For what it is worth the movie you were describing in the intro was “Staying Alive”, a semi-sexual to the movie “Saturday Night Fever” the film that “night Fever” came from

Great reaction. Those were fun times, wish we could go back there.
My classic rock generation hated disco. I even had a 'disco sucks' t-shirt. But it was always a guilty pleasure of mine.🤘
Why did people hated disco so much?
