🔥The only way he was able to do this was through his knowledge of color theory and of his knowledge of value (how some colors are darker than others)

That’s true! But also thinking about it hours later after having finished the whole process of doing the painting and editing the video, I would say this: use your darker colors, nearly black, only in the eyelashes, eyebrows, nostrils, and the interior of the mouth, and go crazy with brighter, more vibrant colors, everywhere else, and you’ll have a nice approximation to this whole technique 😊

Clever to use the alpha lock to recolor the lines at 6:30. Thanks for sharing our process! I've enjoyed playing around with this set and it was fun to see how you use it.

Love your tutorials! Especially the watercolor ones. I don't have procreate, but I find procreate drawing tutorials are better than Illustrator ones.

Hi, love this, and have just bought the brush set, so you are randomly placing colors and not considering values at all, Just being very random?

      Thanks for your support! 🙏
More or less the only rule I followed by instinct, was to only use darker values in parts where I wanted to make sure that looked defined, like the eyelashes, the eyebrows, the nostrils and the crevices inside the mouth. For everything else I used random and brighter colors

OT but I have several of @ittaiManero products but my favorite is the Sketchbook series! I just recently tried saving a sketchbook as a gif and it’s a hoot!

I like this painting a lot but I think this video misses an important lesson on values. The only reason why it looks so realistic, even with those crazy Colors, is because Colors with a darker value (reds, blues and purple) are in the shadow and those with lighther values (yellow, green and cyan) are the highlights

Thanks! Well, my intention was to share my process and explain how I approached the painting, but as I mentioned in the video, this type of painting was entirely new for me and most of the times I had no idea of what I was doing, I was just allowing myself to explore, going out of my comfort zone, and heavily lean on my intuition. I thought it was an important thing to share, because as artists, we don’t always have all the answers, but we can still achieve good results by observing how other artists do things.
