    Hey Ana, hope you won't mind if I alert you to a potential problem I've learned myself that I noticed as you were assembling your nightstand. I saw that the short 2x4's you used inside had the "bullseyes" in the end grain, which means those boards were from the pith, or center, of the tree. Boards cut from the center of the tree will ALWAYS crack eventually. Just wanted to give you a heads-up on that. Love your design for the nightstand. Very nice.

    Anna, such an easy design with a good look.
    I do have one question as to top edge overhang. Is that your own style preference or is function built into the idea of no top overhang?

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  5 лет назад +1

      Thank you! I wanted to match the modern farmhouse bed that has no overhangs so that’s why the top is flush.
      But in the plans the top is about 1/2” bigger (I left this overhang on the back) so if you wanted an overhang on the front, just move the boards forward. You can also cut the top boards up to 2” longer without altering the shopping list- it all still fits on an 8 foot board

      It's doable, there might be more filling holes and sanding. I would recommend a screw like this www.homedepot.com/p/GRK-Fasteners-8-x-2-1-2-in-Star-Drive-Trim-Finishing-Head-Screw-100-per-Pack-119730/203525326

    • @bosun120
      @bosun120 3 года назад

      @@AnaWhiteDIY Thank you.
      Even if you didn't toenail the screws to attach the back (Step 4), the screws would just go straight through, and stick out hidden from view under the top boards anyways?

    • @Romans828girl
      @Romans828girl 5 лет назад

      That's a great idea, but for anyone who rents, or for whatever reason doesn't want to put the holes in the wall for a floating nightstand, you could build this one and put it on casters. Then you could roll it out of the way to get to the drawer(s) on the end. It would still be a pain because of lamp cords and such, so you'd want to store things you don't need to get to very often there. Also, you might need to shorten the legs of the table to make up for the height of the casters.
