The first half of the ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.
This is by far the best DYI coffe table video . Simple, straight forward , simple the best !!! Thank you , I’ll be making mine this weekend thanks to this video .
Just shared this to FB Ana. This is exactly what I need right now. I have a big wooden shoe storage trunk that opens awkward. I have no coffee table. I can rip apart the useless shoe storage box and reinvent it!!! Yay, no need to go to shops (hopefully - which I can't anyway!) and no need to spend. Thank you for this. At least I can start and hope I don't run out of something!! Hope you guys are keeping safe over there. Sending good wishes from Ireland.
That is amazing! My husband and I just bought our first home and can't really afford new furniture but my husband is very handy! So glad to have found good, easy and affordable plans for us to go by to fill our new home with beautiful furniture!
Your table is absolutely beautiful, Ana! I don't know how you can manage to keep on thinking up such gorgeous furniture, but I really hope that you never run out of ideas :)
Thinking about buying a coffee table but I come across this video absolutely amazing! I like how u list all the materials and cut lists it very helpful for beginners. Nowadays, most video does not include details in-depth like yours. Awesome video! ❤
I am wanting to get rid of my kitchen table and get a 2 shelf with a tabletop and wheels to move it. I love this look and think I could make longer legs with wheels! Hummm going to have to think on this one for a while!!!
These pieces of the Farm House collection look wonderful in your home. Ana you are truly a wonderful person. Raising 3 children, running the home, small business women, & helping your family out w/small builds to. Jacbo is a lucky man to have you as his wife.... lol... My pastor use to tell all of us during service, "Behind every good man, there is a wonderful women." My husband is lucky to have me to.... lol... I had to put up w/a lot of his pooh through out the years. We will be married 27 years next month. How/why did it put up w/him for so long..... lol... We've made it, so can everyone else. Love your videos & these work of art you have designed. Keep it coming, Chris from Missouri
Thank you for giving me the confidence to do this. i studied your video for a least 3 weeks straight watching your hands and how you took your time i am new to woodworking and i built two versions to your tables one being shorter. i don't know you but i could not have done this without you my wife still does not believe i built these the quality is way above what i could have bought in a store... i have had offers up to $200 again thank you.
“This is going to be my first woodworking project. I’ve already bought all the materials, including my first miter saw. I’m really excited. My brother is a professional carpenter, and he has given me some advice over the phone since he lives in Puerto Rico and I live in Tennessee. When I finish it, I’ll let you know.”
Yup, only do that once you get into the 2nd piece of wood by about 1/2". Tried explaining this to an acquaintance when he was moving and I helped tear apart his shelving in the basement. Every Single Joint was floppy because there was a gap.. Explained what to do to tighten the joints up and got a deer in the headlights look..
Love this! It is one of my favorites so far, I would love to see console and end tables with this design! We are remodeling a tiny house with around 500 sf for us to live in while we build a larger home. I want to build all the furniture in it! All I have are the simple tools like a skill saw and drills. My plan is to get a pocket hole tool soon.. and maybe a miter saw. I’ve been watching your designs for years and years now and am finally feeling brave enough to dig in!
This woodworking book t.co/oLg9l5gL3F contains a great deal of details about woodwork. There are some designs in the book but it is primarily explaining the procedure of how to do various things and what tools to use to accomplish them. In general, this book fulfilled my basic desire to learn about wood working.?
Absolutely LOVE this coffee table!!! Have made several of these for family and friends. Great plans, easy to follow and loving the overall ease of the project. Start to finish in just a weekend!!
I've been searching and searching for the right coffee table. I'm gonna finally cave and build this! Absolutely love it, i am going to paint it white to match my furniture. Thank you so much for this video!! ❤️
White 🤦. Wood has such a nice natural colour, so many colours but you like white? 🤮 A white house is like a hospital to me. Just like pink everything for girls, I don't know who came with this girls should play with dolls and like pink and boys should play with cars and like blue but whenever i hear the phrase: ''cuz that's the way it should be'' i instantly become sad.
When you said, "Just a drill and a saw for under $40," I did a happy dance. We don't have a lot of tools (only hand tools and some Ryobi stuff), so this project is PERFECT! Thanks, Ana.
Wow!!! My husband literally just told me about your channel an hour ago. I've watched this video and the patio furniture video and I'm SO excited to start making furniture. You make it look so easy. Thank you for sharing your gift on RUclips. I can't wait to get started. ❤
Matching end/console tables would be awesome to see you build. Love all of your videos. The views and the clips of your babies you guys share are beautiful ❤❤❤
Great plans! I built this over the weekend. I stained the top and painted the bottom a creamy white. It turned out great, we are building a house right now and can't wait to use it. Your videos are great, keep them coming! By the way your home is beautiful and the scenery outside is amazing!
I literally love all of your designs! I was just saying I need a coffee table & there you were with this one! Thanks Ana...your the bomb!!! I want to make end tables to match!!!
just started building it mostly done gotta to the x bars then sand paint and stain great project price was close to spot on its actually 55 dollars u know that inflation thing lol
Just built this for my sister-in-law's new apartment as a house warming gift, she was thrilled. Wish I knew how to share the pictures. Building the end tables to match this weekend.

I made this and it was my first time touching a saw. I had alot of gaps and uneven cuts and I realized I had very bowy wood. I think I'll spend the money and buy finished wood instead of construction type wood. If that makes sense
I thought the same thing...looks nicer and eliminates the awkward screws in the cross. Keep up the good work Ana! I moved from Alaska a few years back and am now in Arizona on an old farm property and looking to furnish with my own handy work. Your ideas and projects are inspiring me. Now if I just get the house finished 😋
@@rodprimroseoiuujik6739 I googled it. It's what I was thinking as I watched the video, but I didn't know what it was called. When she was putting the second piece of the X on the ends, if she had cut half the material away from each piece instead of cutting all of it from the second piece, then the two pieces would have fit together like Lincoln Logs. That would have been a half lap joint. Most RUclipsrs would do it with a table saw. I guess if you're doing it with the minimal tools that I have, you would do it with a chisel.
Assuming the maximum density of white pine of 31 lb/in^3, the weight will be 69.2 pounds. White Pine is what I used and I believe she did too. I calculated the weight since I was concern of being to heavy to move and couldn't find the answer in the comments.
Yes that is true. I’m following her plans for another table very similar to this one and so far I have a good amount of scraps of wood. So she probably meant that the lumber actually used is about $40. You can tweak her plans and minimize extra scraps to reduce the final cost of the table. 👌🏼 Hope that makes sense.
Hi Anna First time to comment on one of your projects. I like the table design and using the 2x6 as an easier way to attach the side rails. Two things I would do differently - use the trim-head screws with the smooth shank. The ones you used are for composite materials, as you likely know. When I build with wood, I sometimes make mistakes etc. and when I remove screws made for composite from wood, the reverse threads pull up wood fibers. Secondly, I believe using a half-lap on the cross members would made for an easier build. This is a project that could be done by the beginner woodworker with a tape, pencil, handsaw, square, maybe sharp chisel, and, as you did, a screw gun/driver. Thank you so much for the clear and concise video, showing materials used right up front. I like it.
Thank you so much for taking the time to post this video. My wife and I were going to pay $150 for a similar coffee table. We have now decided to build one together using this video.
I have been working on custom kitchens and baths for 10 years I have a shop with the tools for that work. Looking to make a change. I’m gonna build a coffee table you make it look easy. Thank you.
Ana, your designs are gorgeous and simple. Love them all. That's not always true of others I see. Some appear more a challenge to complexity and difficulty rather than function and beauty in the same piece. Thanks you for persisting at what you do. Now, lets see that garage build progress, huh?
Thank you for the video! I was struggling a little bit with the cross-legs, but now I know how to manage them! Thank you again! The video was helpful! 😁 👍🏼

Hi Anna. I have built several of your projects over the years. Admittedly, this is the first time I’ve watched your youtube channel. Happy to have finally made it. I do have a little advice for your viewers concerning the X patterns: if you have pocket hole jig use it. The self taping screws are certainly workable, but if you don’t have experience doing that your boards may wander on you. The predrilled pocket holes are easy to hide. In fact, with the kreg jig (pocket hole jig) you can hide every single screw by making the pocket holes on the inside. Also, be sure which ever way you screw best not to screw into the end grain. If using glue then it’s fine, because the screws are just holding until glue dries. But end grain wood is like a box of straws... and a screw going parallel to a straw won’t be very strong. Blessings to all.
First of all, I need a miter saw.! I had a few gaps. This project was a lot of fun and with the directions pretty easy. I started woodworking in March of last year and have just tried to do a variety of projects. I'll be looking for another one soon. Thanks.
Big fan from way back. I remember purchasing your book when it first came out. (I left it out in the rain a while back, but it still works LOL). Not too sound sappy, but you were a big influence on my making my “I can do this!” woodworking aspirations. Anyhow, a sincere thank you to you and Jacob for sharing all of your ideas and build videos with us. Be well!
I really like this design and the dimensions can be customized to your space. I built it with a circular saw in a day rather than the few hours described in the video (really makes a good case for a compound miter saw if I do more woodworking / furniture builds). Make sure you use 2.5 in screws, not 2 in screws as I made that mistake and had to go back to make it a bit more sturdy. Thank you for the cool design and the complete walk through. Really helpful.
Ana White just printed out your plans and I am going to give it a shot. 😊😊 You really explain things well. I am brand new to all of this. I am having so much fun with it. I am a musician and there is always something new and things to buy for a drum kit and woodworking is the same way. The best part is that everything for me is all new..... always saying, wow....there is a tool for that and that and that. Hahaha!
The plans are awesome! This was my first DIY wood build and I’m not too handy… yet. Had some difficulty getting even cuts using my skill saw since I don’t have a miter saw. Overall super happy with it!
Love your wood working. My husband and I are building our coffe table, vanities and console tables. We would love to see more videos on those. Thanks you have helped a lot
Hi Anna. Thank you for doing this video. I built my own with a slight little changes. I used pocket holes instead of wood screws an stained the top with a chocolate colour. Great table , we love it.
Great news that you're demonstrating "drill & saw projects" now. They look fantastic, too. Thank you.

I would like to see this in end tables, please. I love your ideas! Thank you!
Love it!!! 👍🏾😀 Super fantastic Job!!!
Glad you like it!
Thank you, Ana. I just made myself a new coffee table. I love you videos and the incredible detail notes.
Be well!
Great table! I like that you did it with minimum tools. Thank you for sharing the design.
That's fantastic, so happy you are enjoying your new piece of furniture!
Made your grazing board and I'm getting ready to try this. Yay !!
Wonderful!
That was absolutely amazing! Thank you SOOOO MUCH!!!!! I appreciate you!
You are so welcome!
Hahaha!
Love this coffee table getting ideas on what to make for my new home as a first timer for wood work. cant wait to watch more
Awesome! Thank you!
The plans are awesome! This was my first DIY wood build and I’m not too handy… yet. Had some difficulty getting even cuts using my skill saw since I don’t have a miter saw. Overall super happy with it!
Wonderful!
Nice and rugged coffee table.
Love your wood working. My husband and I are building our coffe table, vanities and console tables. We would love to see more videos on those. Thanks you have helped a lot
Great design Ana ! will build this soon
Absolutely love it and want to see more!!! New subscriber................binge watching!!!
Thank you and welcome!!!
Hi Anna. Thank you for doing this video. I built my own with a slight little changes. I used pocket holes instead of wood screws an stained the top with a chocolate colour. Great table , we love it.
That is wonderful to hear!
Love this plan Ana! This would make great X-mas gifts! Looks expensive but its not!
