    Nice enough, I went through a phase when I was 18 that I wanted to sound "exactly" like Brian May, so I got the 2006/07 Brian May guitar, (the first signed off model with BM's approval), and I got the DigiTech Pedal, the Greg Fryer treble booster and eventually the VOXAC30 for something like €2300 or something crazy, this would have been ideal and far cheaper for me as a kid!
    I think we're getting to the point in music now where large AMPS are drum kits are going out the window. I had Logic and Native Instruments who made a 'Brian May guitar amp model digitally', I'm afraid to say it was exactlyyy how Brian May sounds, so you don't really need amps anymore unless you're learning guitar, practicing or playing live, so stuff like this is ideal.

    • @dr24_82
      @dr24_82 Год назад +1

      Lol I'm going through that exact phase right now. I'm planning on just getting the bmg, tb and the standard mv50 to start off for now.

    • @Darragh1
      @Darragh1 Год назад +1

      @@dr24_82 I got it in phases.... I would start off with the Brian May guitar to be honest, because I had a VOX Valvtronix... A fender amp etc and 90% of the sound is in the guitar, the 10% is in the effects.... You don't really need the Treble Booster to be honest... The effects and buttons can clear up the sound easily... Brian just had it in the 70s because there was no effects back then and it would sound muddy otherwise.
      So yeah if you're going for it... Buy the guitar, plug it in, put the treble up to 10 past on the dial and turn it up. That's all you need for the basic sound.
      This amp will work just fine too. All you need.

    It does sound amazing, but that's also to do with playing a Red Special copy... How does this amp react to - for instance - a Strat or something with P90 pickups?
    I'm also a bit worried about the built-in treblebooster, great as it may be (May B. - get it?... 🤣) but Brian does rely quite a bit on effects too, which all come *after* that TB.
    An FX loop would be great.
    Also, while nice to see that red cab, I don't think I've ever heard a good sounding 8" guitar speaker in my life...
    Had Vox made this with a 1x12" cab, then you'd really get thát iconic tone at any volume level.

    Before buying one of these, understand there is no effects loop and no reverb, vox try to dodge this question, by saying to use the line out, which defeats the purpose of the thing in the first place and sounds terrible. I have the MV50 clean, through a 4x12 it sounds fantastic, very responsive and takes drive pedals well, I paid 120 quid for it and it a few years ago, its a good backup, BUT tbh, the price being asked for this version is WAY too much, there are lots of similar options around the £150 mark that are better and have effects loops, reverb etc, no doubt they will sell a few of these to Vox fanbois, but they are of limited application.

      I agree, it sounds good from the mic into audio over the video BUT I find it hard to believe this sound is coming from an 8" speaker. And good/loud enough in a gig with a drummer? I don't think so. Demo with 2 x 12" cab live with drummer and see/hear if it stands up. Amazingly tiny, the amp can go in the car glovebox. 😎

      I guess I had higher hopes with Brian mays name attached to it
      Maybe that was my fault though
      I have a feeling tho this thing plugged into a bigger cab would be amazing - I remember I had a small fender champ and me and my friends were able to put it through a 4x12 once and I remember thinking - holy fackkkkkkk
      Would be cool to see some one try it

      From what I've seen with Brian May using that setup and also with the treble booster that you plug into the guitar, they make a good sound and of course Brian can get it close-ish to his classic sound but it's all just trying to be rather than being.
      Yeah well overpriced but then so much guitar stuff is well overpriced.
      The price second hand of those dallasmaster treble booster pedals is truly ridiculous.
      I'm gonna build my own treble booster pedal. The circuits for treble boosters seem to be extremely simple with very few components.
      Iv'e had a few guitar pedals since the mid 90's and hardly ever use them.
      Most of the time when I'm playing my electric guitars I don't even plug them in lol

    It's obvious that playing a Red Special with an amp designed to produce Brian's sound will give you a similar sound.
    Instead, don't you think we should verify how close Brian's sound can be when played with a common "Stratocaster" or "Les Paul"?
    I think that's what most guitar players who don't own a Red Special want to know. Not many people have a Red Special model.
    Like you, there are so many videos of playing and verifying with Red Special, but people are not thoughtful. You should think better.
