sir i have got the pdf of Ohanian book. There i was going through vectors lesson Its was given that vectors are used in navigation. For instance, the pilot of an aircraft approaching an airport might ask the airport controller, “Give me a vector,” which means that the pilot wants to be told what the displacement vector is from her aircraft to the airport. The controller will consult the radar display showing aircraft positions in relation to the airport. So i wanted to ask sir displacement is the shortest distance with indication of direction. What is the need of shortest distance by pilot,it doesnt actually give how much exact distance needed to be travelled right.
@@lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259 iam sorry, but i was asking a question in my previous comment. ok iam sorry that i didnt ask properly There i just wanted to know why the pilot want know displacement vector, because displacement is not actual path lenght right
the shortest distance on Earth between 2 points is the *great circle* between the 2 points and that's how pilots fly (unless there are restricted zones). If you have question for Ohanian, ask him.
Thankyou sir for clearing all my doubts regarding circular motion.Although tomorrow is my exam!!!You gave me a good revision of this chapter!!!😀From-🇮🇳

a person like you sir should teach other lecturers how to teach or may be its a gift and charisma i have seen professors like talking robots or may be worse
When teachers ask my advice then I respond. However, I have learned during my 43 years at MIT that every teacher, no matter how bad their teaching is, thinks that they are GREAT! I know several good teachers (and there are quite a few at MIT) who have talked to the bad ones in the hope that they would improve. It never helped.
I can understand that the point of the strobing apple is to show the increase in acceleration per time. However, for the first example at roughly 43:05, the frequency is 2hz/s, so if it takes 0.8 seconds to fall, shouldn't the apple only strobe once before it even makes a second strobe since? I can see two strobes being the case if the tie it takes were 1 second to fall to the ground
*The freq is not 2hz/sec. The freq is 2 Hz.* If there is a flash every 0.5 sec then the minimum number of flashes on my picture will be 1 and the maximum is 2.
@@lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259 Ah yes, my mistake. 2Hz! I apologize. One more question, how can it flash twice if it is limited by the time constraint of 0.8 seconds? I thought the time it takes to fall will never change, in order for it to flash twice wouldn't you have to increase the height to increase the time it takes to fall? Thank you in advance, Dr. Lewin

I couldn't have approached this topic without you....simply the best physics professor I've ever known.

5 / 256 = 0.0195 so the relative error concerning the estimation of true velocity is still just below 2%, as we wanted.
Best regards,
JM

Shall I take this for a yes ? :-)
I had the same doubt i suppose the smile face means yes
I think at 25:31 should be /dt² instead of /dt like a second later in red chalk. (Friday)
yes d^2x/dt^2 slip if the pen- sorry
Please Sir reply
Should I prefer these lectures for my NEET-UG exam?
Lots of love and respect to you sir from India.🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Haa bhen mujhe b janna h are these sufficient to crack neet physics..
Please sir reply
This is complete till JEE ADV theory😅

sir i have got the pdf of Ohanian book. There i was going through vectors lesson
Its was given that vectors are used in navigation. For instance, the pilot of an aircraft approaching an airport might ask the airport controller, “Give me a vector,” which means that the
pilot wants to be told what the displacement vector is from her
aircraft to the airport. The controller will consult the radar display showing aircraft positions in relation to the airport.
So i wanted to ask sir displacement is the shortest distance with indication of direction. What is the need of shortest distance by pilot,it doesnt actually give how much exact distance needed to be travelled right.
:)
@@lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259
iam sorry, but i was asking a question in my previous comment.
ok iam sorry that i didnt ask properly
There i just wanted to know why the pilot want know displacement vector, because displacement is not actual path lenght right
the shortest distance on Earth between 2 points is the *great circle* between the 2 points and that's how pilots fly (unless there are restricted zones). If you have question for Ohanian, ask him.
@@lecturesbywalterlewin.they9259
Thankyou sir
"restricted zones" include the weather. Pilots must avoid major thunderstorms.
Thank you sir for your video I just loved it
From India
Thankyou sir for clearing all my doubts regarding circular motion.Although tomorrow is my exam!!!You gave me a good revision of this chapter!!!😀From-🇮🇳
11:02 Newton spotted 😂
Even Newton came after death to attend lecture of Sir Walter Lewin.🙏
These Lectures are so fun to watch
Sirr i m your biggest fan 😂 i see your lec for my neet exam ____ i hope i select ❤
🤞
Sir, you taught them many years ago and this RUclips never brought them in my recommendations when I was scrolling down. I wish I had more time :(
Thank you sir for such wonderful lectures.
love physics after seeing this video
:)
Lectures by Walter Lewin. They will make you ♥ Physics
a person like you sir should teach other lecturers how to teach or may be its a gift and charisma i have seen professors like talking robots or may be worse
42:55 test of an actual cammera men
I can understand that the point of the strobing apple is to show the increase in acceleration per time.
Lewin
>>>how can it flash twice if it is limited by the time constraint of 0.8 seconds? >>> *THINK*
I have very high difficulty understanding physics in my university since the teacher doesn't give a damn. But you care.
Thanks, you are very respectable professor.
Best Lectures ever !
It's a very hight and fruitful educational process
thank you very much professor Walter Lewin
This is GOUGNI Adam from Morocco
:)
I'm eren (11thgrade) solved the example questıon! (we learn derivative in 12th grade in tr)
May God bless you, Professor Lewin.
You and Physics are synonims.
Even Issac Newton learned physics from prof. Lewin! @ 11:01
Back in school and college days physics was so boring. Thank you Professor Walter Lewin and your entire team for recording thess wonderful physics lectures.🙏❤️
Fun, Knowlege and Wisdom
Glad you enjoyed them

Dear Dr. Lewin, I am a physician who has an insatiable curiosity about the "truth defined by physical law"...I'm working on a book on how I am using physics to define the material strength that makes up our bodies and what fails when injury or disease takes place. More specifically, the changes that exist in our biomaterials and the responses those stresses have on our function. I couldn't have approached this topic without you....simply the best physics professor I've ever known.
+Charles Wright Thank you Charles for your kind words
I am interested in reading your book. Please let me know when it is ready and where to find it!
I will gladly send you a copy when it is ready to go for final review before publishing...Thanks so much!!!!
Charles Wright Oh, no i'm just a high school student interested in the subject. I don't think that you should send it to me for review as I would be far under-qualified, although you could still send me a copy if you really wanted.
4:50 that would have been funnier if he was talking about instantaneous velocity.
After this lecture, he's basically a legend (IMO).
11:02 haha newton is learning his own theories
