Oh my God that's insane, I've been grinding all the par type achievements and the dumb 5g ones for a long time now off and on and some day before I die I want to have MCC completed

The amount of times I yelled "Buck, Fire your damn fuel rod" while trying this is insane. It's like he targets everyone but the enemies actually in optimal range for him to hit, and the once you get into range for whatever target he did choose he takes ten years to actually pull the trigger.
Who programed the allys in the games I hope karma took care of him what a fucking asshole!
Just unlocked this achievement last night. I have to admit, this was probably the toughest par score to hit of the entire MCC. I know you pretty much showed each of these in the video, but a few quick points for anyone going for this achievement:
1) You will need to play on Legendary with at least two skulls on (I used Famine and Tough Luck). Any more skulls and you're just asking for punishment. Any less and you won't be able to hit the score.
2) From the start of the mission through the highway, you pretty much have to be perfect. That is, you don't need to kill everything, but you need to get to the park with no deaths and at about the 20:00 mark.
3) In the final segment at the park, give Dare the Rocket Launcher from the weapons locker in the back of the lobby (you'll also get an achievement for doing so) and give Buck the Fuel Rod Cannon from the Brute Captain that you kill in the first wave. You'll need the two of them to take fire (as they're invincible) and dish out most of the damage (especially when the Hunters and final wave of Brutes show up) while you cower with the Engineer in the lobby (it's a legitimate strategy!).

Garrick Aube You're welcome! The only addition I'd make is that you are pretty safe on the balconies right next to the highway. The area where the jackal snipers run to and snipe from. You could probably do more damage from here as well. Most enemies don't notice you there so you can help pick people off with your sniper (and the jackals' beam rifles)

This is a great idea I've played this level like #3 before lol I beat this level on Legendary before and didnt get score so I'll give it a try
Just beat it on Heroic with 92,985 points. So it's possible to do it on Heroic as well. It saved me so much pain and suffering 🙂

As someone who has a very hard time with this level already on Heroic, I am very happy to hear this.
The par score definitely could have stood to be a lot lower on this level than it was. I think 60,000 would have been more than fair, especially considering how high you can get the score on other levels. It just seems kind of ridiculous that on other levels where the needed score is laughably small--like Kizingo Boulevard, for example--and yet they make the Coastal Highway score kind of outrageous. Way to be inconsistent, 343. : P
But just a couple things that are worth mentioning in this level is that in the starting area of the level, up a flight of stairs to the left of a bunch of med-kits, is a sniper rifle for the taking. Later, when you get to the highway, another slightly safer way of taking out that Fuel Rod grunt is to drive down that tunnel at the beginning, stop in the middle of the ramp leading upwards, get out, and walk forward until you can see over the top of the ramp. The grunt with the Fuel Rod is usually standing in plain sight, so you can easily take him out with the pistol before he starts firing at you.
I don't know who is worse; BUCK in this mission, or 117s in matchmaking...

I actually found a little bug which helps you get the par score. Use the Iron skull and let the Engineer & Veronica die in the vehicle part. When you respawn back at the beginning, you should keep the points you had when you 'died'.
But then the trick is not dying when you finally have the points

Even if you do this, you have to do it relatively quickly or the game stops giving you points. Just happened to me when I got to 67,000 and I've just given up for the day.
I liked halo 3 ODST before this challenge. Now I never want to touch this game again. It’s one thing if this challenge relied on your own skill, but I feel like the majority of the level is all dependent on wether or not Buck can do want you want him to do.
Yeah, it's so anoying having to rely on the bad AI.

Thanks to this guide, I managed to pretty easily get par score (120K in fact) on Heroic (finished in 26:53). Didn't even have to use the Iron skull exploit mentioned below (where you let the Engineer die and keep your points). Famine makes this mission a lot harder, so I used Iron and Tilt instead.
The key is ensuring the AI have rocket launchers/fuel rods for most of the mission (i.e. Buck rides shotgun with rockets, except in the gauss hog, where he's more useful on the turret). In the last area I had Dare use a fuel rod and Buck with his rocket launcher, and they mowed through everyone, even the hunters. I mostly stayed up on the sides with a beam rifle or plasma pistol (whichever was available) weakening all the enemies.
The only close call was when a berserking brute got inside the room with the Engineer, and the AI wouldn't shoot it, so I had to run all the way back to finish it just before it killed the alien ("the Engineer is dying!" xD).
Also, make sure to shoot down as many wraiths as possible with your scorpion tank. They net a ton of points. I think I missed one but got the rest.

Is there a "Choked" achievement where you get to the final boss in < 24 min with 180k competitive score and somehow manage to miss the par score? I could give you tips on a tutorial for that
Helpful hint. There’s a crate full of rocket launcher ammo in the section where the drones fly out at you

A tip I figured out is at the first gate on the highway, right after you give buck the fuel rod, there is a scout warthog. If you take that, you don't have to worry about keeping Buck off the turret.
It took me two tries but I have actually completed this on heroic (which is how I do all my par scores) with 120,000 points and 3 minutes under a par-time. Fantastic guides. I keep coming back anytime. I need help
I think its kind of dumb that they make you go for a time multiplier. I liked the score system better back in the old Halo's.
Okay, finally pulled it off thanks to some of HC's and y'alls tips! My run looked like this...
Difficulty: Heroic
Skulls: Catch, Famine, Iron, Thunderstorm, Tough Luck
Final Score: 159,348
Final Time: 25:26 (missed par by seconds, lol)
In retrospect, I could have left off Iron and saved myself some save/quitting grief. In the first infantry section, I recommend going left instead of right, so you can get the Rockets. Plenty of cover behind the columns and vehicles, and all the Covies will cluster up by the exit, so it's worth going for the easy multikills. After giving Buck the first FRG, pick up a second from the sniper tower Grunts and give that to Dare when you reach the park. When you start running into Ghosts and Banshees, I sometimes found that staying near the Oliphant means the Covies will shoot it instead of you, which gives Buck some easy targets. Before the first wave at the park, head upstairs to the Sniper Rifle spawn. With the Catch Skull on, Grunts CAN reach you, as can the FRG Brute, but you'll be mostly protected from them AND friendly fire. Also, the turret was surprisingly helpful against the wave of Jackals. On Heroic, even the Snipers aren't much of a threat. If you still have any rockets before the final wave of Brutes, loop around to the right near the highway and you might be able to get some very satisfying multikills. Otherwise, take your Sniper Rifle and any Beam Rifles that Jackals dropped to pick them off from behind. The whole time, barely anybody shot at me, so holding the high ground is key. When I ran out of ammo, it was a simple matter to backsmack the Chieftan and clean up straggles with his grav hammer. Good luck!
Halo ce and odst were headaches, they were the only games I had to lean on the time multiplier to complete them
Thanks for the help, I followed what you did (with some differences, not for the better) and I got 138,447 with 31:59. I had "Iron" and "So... Angry..." enabled along with your skulls. I died 2 times from the Wraith (Virgil died twice at the end of that part), and 2 times from the Jackal Snipers at the end (one of them ran right up to me and sniped me point blank). I did the save & quit trick each time.
I really struggled with this on legendary - some bad luck on each run. I managed to get 112000 on heroic with thunderstorm, famine and iron. Felt much easier for me
Did 343 completely destroy Buck’s AI? In this video he actually does stuff but I get screwed over every attempt
Buck is fucking useless. I've lost count how many times I died doing this level on Legendary, and instead of shooting at enemies, he'll just stare at them for a few seconds before firing, which of course gives the six ghosts with Brutes in them that I'm being attacked by more than enough time to kill me. Level would have been much easier if I could have been on the gun instead.
One you get the Warthog with the Gauss gun, Buck gets a bit better but just barely.
Do this on Heroic with Famine, Thunderstorm and Catch on. You have to be vigilant with dodging the grenades they throw but being on heroic made it a little easier to not die as often. It wasnt crazy on legendary to be honest. Make sure you shoot down the 4 phantoms on the highway as they come over the building to your right the section after you get the tank. That's what will make up most of the points for you. From there just make sure dare and buck have heavy weapons for the ending and follow what silver did for the final fight. Should be a little easier if you are struggling. be sure to turn on competative scoring aswell so that you can keep an eye on your time multiplyer. Happy days

Cheeky little tip for the part with the wraith. Wait for the oliphant to start heading down the hill(buck might kill a banshee). Drive past all the enemies and head straight for the door. There is a truck turned over on the left hand side right up against the door and u can hide there while buck deals with all the enemies. This is also when u get the tank so jump in and finish the ones he doesn't get. Makes that section so easy. Just remember tho u might not get a checkpoint and u need to be quick, otherwise she will get destroyed by the next section!!
Me and my brother did a co-op playthrough on Legendary and we weren't expecting to beat the par score for this level. We got 90,092 and I'm sure the only reason we got it is because we didn't die 1 more time and because I went back, got on the warthog turret and killed 3 Banshees that we were going to move past lol.
Great guide, helped me out a lot.
However, I would strongly recommend grabbing either a friend or hooking up a second controller to make this achievement even easier.
I tried over and over again playing through the level on solo and was coming out with roughly 83,000.
Decided to get my brother on with me and nailed it on the first try, beat the par time and came out with a score of around 130,000.

I put all the skulls in this video on plus the Blind skull and had over 100k points by the start of the arena section. Lol just use a small piece of tape on your TV for your reticle and you're solid. Thanks for the video!

Doing this SOLO, This was the most annoying Halo par score ever and hardest to try and keep the time under 30 mins doing this Alone! I followed your guide completely besides not giving buck the fuel road on the highway, thought the 50 Cal. Was better but until I decided to give him the fuel rod it was a lot better and cut down my time by roughly 5 minutes no joke. I jumped in the 50 Cal. To take out the bugs though lol Thanks for the guide Silver!
So much easier in coop because you can actually kill efficiency in a player manned turrent and with buck in the passenger with a fuel rod makes it even easier. Had 5 skulls on got well over 100k even though we died a few times.
At the end when you're about to exit the tank, there's a car sitting there. Move it with the tank up the the traffic barrier and drive up it, you won't be able to go all the way in but you can use the tank to kill all of the enemies quickly.
I just got this achievement (got 152.945 points) thanks to this guide! This is how I did it:
Difficulty: Heroic
Time: 27:02 minutes
4 Skulls: famine, thunder, tough luck and iron (I died one time on the highway and had to restart but if you're careful enough you can get through this level without dying).

Also be especially wary of the ghosts, sometimes they don't stay focused on the Oliphant so I tried to stay at a certain distance like Silver said.
For the Wraith I tried to shoot it in the Warthog but it blew up my vehicle so I grabbed another one right next to it and rushed past the Wraith and then destroyed it with the tank
A tip I have for when you get to the gauss hog part. Pick up the rockets where the bugs spawn and drive up to the wraith shoot two rockets at it and walk along side the garbage truck and shoot at the ghost while they're distracted. It's so much easier and you don't have to worry about the banshees
A few of the comments have already said it but following this guide, with the alteration of it being on heroic with more skulls (for me I used Famine, Iron (I didn’t die once that’s how much easier it is than legendary), thunderstorm, tough luck, and tilt) I was able to go through the whole level without dying and and just missed the par time by 7 seconds. Total score at the end 176,074

This achievement is absurd. Whoever came up with the 90,000 number clearly didn't vet it.

@Artifact Ward I still have 17 achievements remaining and the trilogy to get through in LASO. You might be able to clear it a lot faster than I have, the past 3 months have marked my last quarter in high school so I haven't had much free time.
I did Heroic with Famine, Thunderstorm, Iron, ended at like 24:00, final score of some 150K.
I would say its not as bad as it feels, but its bad because it feels so bad.

your videos really do help but it seems like when I try the smallest of things will be out place but have the biggest impact whether it be a grunt in the wrong spot or brute just barley hitting me with a bruteshot either way it still screws me up massively to the point were I fail to meet the score I was at 84,000/90,000 im pissed now
The 4 phantoms that fly out in line, you can keep moving along the highway while shooting them. Bonus bragging points if you move along without looking forward driving the tank.
For those who are attempting this achievement, it's OKAY if you die like 5 or 6 times. Me and my girlfriend literally just finished this on Co op and died about 6 times and still managed to get it within 30 minutes and 14 seconds and got a score of about 130,000 so if you die just keep going 👍👍👍👍

How is it possible that I can finish Halo 3 and 4 on legendary within 3 hours, but I can't get the par score on this one 😔
Even seeing comments saying that they finally did it are upsetting. Don't tell me this is possible. Don't pretend this is like any other par score. This is a cruel joke on everyone who thought the par scores were more achievable than Legendary speed runs and LASO.
I did it super easily with 330 000 score in about 20 mins. go on heroic and follow the guide. make sure to put on as many scoring skulls as you can. I did it this thunderstorm, famine, iron, tough luck and grunt birthday. If you die or virjil does you can to the exit to resume to bypass the iron skull. Virgil died at the very end and I didn't know because i was listening to music and the level restarted. I had 200,000 points at the very start of the level and just sped through without even killing any enemies I didn't need to. So MUCH EASIER THAN TRYING IT ON LEGENDARY
I've heard how bad this level was and I wasn't going to attempt it during the evening. Next day and 3rd restart, got a score of 232,608 in a time of 27:37. I think I might of just come across great rng if im being honest.
Got 163k my first try. Still waiting for the achievement to pop up though... I really hope I don't have to beat it again
Use the warthog gun on the bugs while buck shoots with fuel rod cannon
I got 140k on heroic with catch, famine, thunderstorm, tilt, tough luck, so angry and masterblaster for the extra multiplier. Biggest help is to kill the 4 phantoms in the section where theres no enemies with the tank. 2 shots to the engines on the front will kill them for 4k score a piece.
To anyone who might see this, here's my build for this par score. Heroic -> Tilt + Tough Luck + Thunderstorm + Eye Patch + Blastermaster. I ended with a 24 minute time and got 134,000 points. So as long as you get under 30 minutes you should be in the clear. No need to punish yourself doing it on Legendary.

I did legendary with thunderstorm, famine, tough luck and iron (with save and quit glitch) and pulled off 307,370 points in 00:25:25
I also used the rocket launcher at the beginning to blast the brutes while running past them. (your laso route)
For halo 3 odst, your final score multiplies by how many players you have. Say you finish the mission with 20k score with three players, 20k x 3 is 60k. 4 players is so much easier.
Excellent guide, i made it on legendary thunderstorm and bad luck with 144K, the secret is Buck with the fuel rod
The problem I have with this level is Buck. Just Buck. His AI is terrible. He’ll go past whole Covenant squads without firing a shot. I’ve had three Banshees rounding on me all at once, while he’s trying to shoot a Wraith that isn’t even in his line of sight.
I am entirely at the mercy of AI-induced RNG. I hated this level just going through normally; going for the high score, which is outrageously high, will be a nightmare!

You don’t need to do it on legendary, you can do it on heroic with iron, tough luck, tilt, thunderstorm and famine, just be careful at the bit where you get the scorpion tank, Virgil died so many times
This is a total cheese tactic, but if you're patient this will get you the achievement, even on normal. Clear the first section of enemies, then kill Virgil (the engineer). The mission restarts with your score intact but the timer reset, you do lose a few points for killing Virgil though. Keep this up until you feel comfortable with your starting score. Heroic with a couple skulls got me about 5,000-6,000 points per run in about 3 minutes. Kept that up until I hit 90,000 in the first section and easily got par score, about 175,000 points even with dying several times.
I managed to get under the par time on my fourth try for a score of 229,014! That’s rank 27 on the global leaderboard! 😆

Quick Stats: Had 6 deaths on this one, but on legendary and the skulls listed above. I hit 29:18 for a 2.14x multiplier and 134060 score.
took me multiple tries but finally got 94,887 on Legendary with Masterblaster, Thunderstorm, Famine, and Ironman (with save scumming)
Commented to confirm that the Par Score is doable on Heroic, not just legendary. ~123,000 points, ~22:30. I only used Thunderstorm, Tough Luck, Tilt, and Famine (was using Iron, but lost patience with grunts sticking my Hog one time too many). Died once right at the checkpoint before getting a Gauss Hog. Made sure to stock up on Rocket Ammo during the drive, as well as rush to the SMG locker on the buggers. Used the rockets to speed up the final fight vs the Brutes and Hunters.
Ideally, you could eke out even more points throwing Iron on there, but I would also recommend taking out Tough Luck if the setup is proving too hard. Removing Tough Luck makes it a bit easier to land overcharges and gain splatters for long chains. Mythic I wouldn't reccommennd, as it causes Jackals to stop flinching from gap shots
One last comment- At the location of the bugger ambush, there is a weapons locker in the middle of the road near where the Oliphant stops as the doors open, that will top off your rocket ammunition. Additionally, that same checkpoint along the road has an SMG weapons locker past the health kits up the stairs. It may be hard to reach on Legendary without dying, but you can drive straight towards it as soon as the doors open on Heroic safely, and will help you take down the buggers quicker to save some time.
Guys! I just beat this on heroic with only the iron and tough luck skulls on! If you beat the level fast enough, you can get just above the 90,000 score. I just beat it with 92,985!
Save yourselves the pain and suffering and do this on Heroic difficulty instead! I hope this helps someone ✌🙂
Don't use the boom skull on this level. If you do, there's a glitch that causes the alien to blow up as soon as it leaves the garbage truck at the the end of the highway section. I had 160k points, but I had to restart the level without boom.
yes this is way harder than the other ODST missions. For me it worked better when I give Buck the Rocket Launcher since it one shots the ghosts / banshees. Its better to be more careful and precise than trying to rush the level.
9:35 this section is impossible because a banshee ALWAYS comes up behind you killing you before you even reach the other gauss hog. You need to hide behind veronica at first then once the banshee has been dealt with move up and deal with the others.
Must've had a dozen deaths but if you get as many banshees as possible (think I only missed two) and get perfect combos with tank when that series of Phantoms come out you can still get it; in the end my time multiplier was only 1.18x and got it at 93,307

Easily did this on Heroic with 4 Skulls on(Iron, Famine, Thunderstorm and Tough Luck). Finished in 29 mins with a score of 125,479

If you can make it within the par time you get a shit ton of points. I managed to get 26 minutes and I got 163k points. That is if you play on legendary. I had Tilt, Thunderstorm, Tough Luck and Famine on
virgil dies after leaving olifant at the final part idk why as soon as dare and Virgil leaves Virgil dies
Something interesting I've discovered: when the *engineer* dies (not me/the player) the level resets....but seems to CARRY OVER your score. So I'm currently starting the level from the jump with...36K points. Now, if the time doesn't reset, then I'm out of luck. But if it DOES....then I can rack up 100K points early on and cruise through the rest of the level. For the record, I have the Iron skull on, so I wonder if it's some weird bug with that, where I don't die, so Iron doesn't reset everything, but the death of the Engineer hard-resets it. Will update when working, because that'd be a GREAT way to deal with this pain in the butt achievement
Update: damn, the time doesn't reset. So consider this a warning! IF THE ENGINEER DIES, RESET THE LEVEL MANUALLY OR THE TIMER WON'T RESTART
@@Captain192 cant you just play to get enough points so the time multiplier wont matter? If you get 90k base points and then cruise through the level for the next 3 hours or whatever then youre sorted right?
@@timpact Theoretically yes, but the problem is after the timer hits a certain point the time multiplier is 0.00x; so after however long that is you can't score any more points. You'd have to somehow rack up 90k base points while dying repeatedly but ALSO being fast enough in each run to not go over the 0x time point. Might be easier? I don't really know, haven't managed it either way as of yet.
I just can’t seem to get this one. I always die a handful of times throughout the driving because of RNG with banshees/ bucks aim with various weapons. etc.. but the real hard part is the ending section. I always have some rockets and fuel rod, but just cannot consistently get through those waves without deaths, and will always die to something random. Inevitably, I end up at the last wave of brutes with very little ammo / power weapons to take them on. And it is always in this section I am well over the par score, but go over 25mins and lose multiplier and it’s so frustrating. I’ve had 3 runs where I finish the level over the par score just for the ending sequence waiting for the pelican to fuck me over because it takes so long and makes my multiplier go too low while waiting that last 45 seconds. I don’t want to give up on this I am just so demoralized. I want to complete so bad because I still have many CE, Reach, and H4 par scores to tackle and this is my last ODST level to do. Thankfully already done all H2 and H3 par scores, and have already done par times on all 6 games. Just want to be done with par scores so I can finally focus on under 3 hour legendary speed runs, and then, god forbid, hack my way through spartan ops achievements. Bleh. Then ofc one day may try for LASO.
Very sadly have 5 super easy Reach achievements that won’t pop for me no matter what I do. Not sure how to fix.
Buck is the worst thing about this entire mission
Halo Completionist shows some great strats in this video, but no offense, he is very detached from the reality of most pleb gamers xD This achievement can be done on Heroic, and it is MUCH easier that way. I struggled for a couple hours using the exact method of this video, and was hating my life and Buck's hopeless AI. I beat the mission but had the minimum time multiplier because I died so much. That practice on Legendary was useful though, because when I did it on Heroic everything felt way more forgiving. Your Warthog can even survive being stuck a couple times! (for skulls use Thunderstorm, Famine, and Tough Luck, don't use Tilt or else the Wraith becomes nearly unkillable by Gauss Hog, and the Ghosts survive like 6+ Fuel Rod shots)
Achievement be so easy if Ghost Banshee parts werent RnG. Since they never fkin miss their shots so you die in 0.5sec

I can't get past the ghost area. Buck just sits there and does nothing and the ghosts eventually agro onto us and gets me killed.
I've tried about 20 times I gave up lol
My last to beat after Kikowani Station which took me a few attempts
I highly recommend the IRON skull, it gives you way more score and you can just save and quit if you die, before you respawn and then resume, basicaly free points.
I thought this was imossible at first, after a lot of practice I got through the level at 83,000, But I tried it one more time and I actually beat the par time with 22.44 and to my surprise got 212,000 points.

Way easier to do it on heroic with some skulls (I used famine, gbp, iron, iwhbyd, pinata, so…angry…, thunderstorm, tilt, and tough luck).
Really not that hard if you take the time to use explosives and take out the banshees and wraiths and ghosts
has yone else finished with more than par score and be denied the achievement ? that happened with me i finished with 114000 a few days ago but i checked my achievements and it didn't give it to me which sucks because i put a long time into trying to get this one
did this on heroic, 4 skulls, 27:57, score 110484. maybe a dozen deaths

Must be so easy playing this with a friend instead of shitty Buck. It's so triggering when buck just stands there and not shooting when there are enemies right in front of you.
This is so stupid, I have Buck the cannon and now he refuses to get in the back of my gauss warthog, he just gets in the seat and when I block it he says that he can't jump in. I myself had the cannon so I couldn't switch with him. Restarting over and over. So frustrating.
Edit: After 6 or os retries during the early part of the mission I finally ended with 110k, I had well over 220k when I got to the last part of the mission. Killing those phantoms is the key to this mission, I had under 100k when I reached the bridge where you kill like 5 phantoms and after killing all but one I had close to 200k.
It's hard to miss but at the left part of the first area where you fight the brutes and the tower in the middle, there's a rocket launcher at the left. I killed everyone in that area and had about 8.2k points going into the highway. Probably not worth it since it took an additional 2.5 minutes compared to his time in this video which will result in way more loss in points due to the multiplier.
Oh thank God! beat it with 93k in 0:30:03 time and a 1.97x time multiplier!

I can’t get past the fucking first bit and when I do all the grunts throw about 8 million Grenades at me
do... not... use the skulls... Tilt, thunderstorm, tough luck, famine or mythic at the same time when trying to do this. Vehicles will be the bane to your existence and constantly kill you or kill Dare over and over again. The gauss hog does nothing to ghosts it takes more than 10 to kill one and at least 10 to kill a Banshee
Did you try with using the rocket lunches to Buck?
