Anyone wondering why it’s called Orpheus: Orpheus was a Greek mythological figure who went into the underworld to save his wife and bring her back with him.
Very helpful, thanks. The tips of (1) which skulls to turn on without making it too hard, (2) sticking to the sword almost exclusively, and (3) being aggressive on the crab thingies because they had no AI to attack, were the three keys I needed to do this. It was the last par score I needed for Halo 3. I had put it off because this is my least favorite level in the entire series of games.
I did this on Normal and just took it really slow. Final time was easily around 22 minutes, but I had more than enough points from killing everything. I had mostly all the skulls HaloComp used here, but the main thing too is the Jacked skull which means you cannot use vehicles unless you steal it from an enemy, but since there are no vehicles, it's another freebie.
To be honest the interruptions are the only saving grace of that mission cus I thought it was pretty cool, I hate everything about the mission otherwise. I just wish they didn't have to slow you down to do it.
There's a sword you can pick up at the very start of the mission if you want to grab a couple of kills early on. After taking the first two corners, before you reach any dead brutes, there's a dark opening on the right with a ramp that leads up to just above the area. Jump across the gap and there's a sword ready for action.
Actually, don't use a sword against the elite forms because it's ineffective against their shields on a harder difficulty. Use the gravity hammer as your melee weapon.
Alt strategy to make this SUPER EASY and practically guaranteed: On Heroic, use Skulls: Catch, Thunderstorm, Tilt, Tough Luck, and IRON (yes, iron- if you die, as soon as you realize it, save and quit. Then resume mission) The hardest part is of course the beginning.... IF you don’t get the sword in the first main room (where you reunite with the arbiter at the end of the mission). If you do happen to get the sword from the infected covenant form, knocking out the rest of the room will grant you approx 19000 points. Don’t forget there’s a flamethrower and a rocket launcher next to the pelican (just outside this room). Of course, after the 15 minute mark, your points will start to decrease (be sure to use competitive scoring), but making sure the first room gets cleared is a huge point buffer. Anything you lose along the way you’re sure to regain later on. Probably will take about an hour, but better than having to restart the entire level. EDIT: Took about 50 minutes and I ended with 24499 points. Remember that at the 40 minute mark, your kills will no longer earn you points. For me, this was the room after you save Cortana.
This is such a fantastic guide for this level. The ranged forms gave me such trouble. The odd thing is The Ark and The Covenant level par scores are so easy to get even on legendary, so much so that you could get 3 times that amount and yet for both Floodgate and Cortana, you have trouble getting to that par score while executing everything perfectly.
I actually got floodgate par score without even going for it specifically, on my legendary run on PC. I have played a bunch on 360 way back when though. Same with Ark and Covenant.
This level would not be hated if not for the ranged forms being so damn hard to kill or if they did less damage. Honestly, just need one, or the other. They are the reason this level is so terrible. Either let me kill them, or let me ignore them. Let me do something.
I used to have trouble back in the day. But the solution is simple. Ranged forms are easily killed with Plasma rifle in short bursts or a couple of shots from a Brute shot can take them out (The blade comes in handy to).
I recommend the bruteshot instead of carbine, it is pretty much as powerful as the sword for a mele weapon, it kills tank forms in one hit. The grav hammer doesn't even do that (with the skulls on).

I ended up turning mythic off. Most of the stalker forms take 2 hits to kill and the elite forms would take 3 hits from the sword to kill. Even some brutes took more than 1 hit. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong...
Hey dude. I've just recently started using your videos (odst par scores) and they're really helpful. Funny and descriptive. when do you think you will be doing Halo 4 par scores? I want to knock out all those legendary achievements as well as the par scores.

Which LASO do you think is the easiest? I really need to start those playlists but I'm hesitant to. Also, would you suggest I find a friend to do them with or does the "Save And Quit" checkpoint trick still work? Great Video
ColonelCrunch1 In order from easiest to hardest would be ODST, 4, 3, CE and 2. I haven't personally tried the save and quit method in awhile, but a lot of people are saying it doesn't work anymore. Doing it with a friend definitely has it's advantages (like negating the need to save and quit), but it can also get annoying if your friend keeps dying and pulling you back to your last checkpoint or vice versa :)

Are you sure Thunderstorm does not effect flood? I had it on for this level and it seemed that most combat forms were shielded elites. Maybe I just got coincidental unlucky rng.
He makes this level look so easy lmao. I was making such good time (was at 10 minutes) when I got to the Arbiter, he freaking flamethrower my face and killed me lmao. Got 31K I only ever used the sword.

On my 1st Legendary run, I died 60 times on this mission (I was 16). After learning the legendary strats, I died only 15 times.

I did this but without the iron skull on. Took me 17 minutes and I got 24000 points. Slice everyone in your way and just run through the mission.

Was going great, no problems, then when you blow up the three conduits, the blast knocked me off the damn platform. So goddamn livid.
The elite flood forms get on my nerve. They always take 2 hits up to 5.
Yeah they suck, idk why the amount of hits they take is so random.
