one of the very greatest live shows I've ever seen here in NYC at Irving Plaza if I remember correctly. Stiv somehow climbed up and hung into the railing of the first balcony with one arm .....Amazing
These guys were amazing. I'm British and love bands such as The Pistols, Buzzcocks, The Damned and Stiff Littl Fingers I'm not stupid enough like some to dismiss amazing American Bands like The Dead Boys,The Dead Kennedys, The Ramones, Television, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers. Also the Daints from Australia. After all you guys did bring Punk rock to the table and I've always acknowledged how Important that scene was.
I wish Lou Reed would have been the producer of the second album, it would have been great to hear the result of their collaboration! Also would have been awesome to hear the Stiv/Johnny Thunders/Dee Dee Ramone band too.
Easily one of my top 5 favorite Punk bands of all time!! They truly bought the attitude of Punk to me I have both their Young Loud And Snotty and We Have Come For Your Children both signed by Cheetah Chrome and the second album signed by Johnny Blitz he left the new incarnation of Dead Boys recently witch is when I got my press of Young Loud And Snotty I seen them Cheetah Chrome’s revival of Dead Boys 3xs now first 2xs was with Johnny Blitz then last yr they played on my Birthday Oct 7 in Houston I was truly honored and filling in on Drums was my friend I went to Elementary School/High School with a grade above me for Johnny Blitz’s Legendary role in the band and he played great their set was great it was only Cheetah Chrome that time. Dead Boys are always special to me and really underrated imo!!!
On April 19, 1978, during his time with Dead Boys, Blitz and a group of friends were in Manhattan's East Village when they became involved in an altercation with a separate group. During the altercation, Blitz was stabbed 5 times. Talk about being just a Dead Boy! RIP Stiv
I can't tell you how many times we saw them back then, it was the 70s, we did alot of drugs, but we saw them a bunch. Saw them one night at Club Heat down in the West Village, Cheetah Had busted his arm and couldn't play, they had someone filling in for him and he just wandered around the stage all night.
skrewdriver started as a punk band.whereas gg started as a sreetwise cockrock band, like to put them on a one on one with the stranglers or acdc backthen, bon scott as was was angus an his brother raised in glasgow where your fists and razors were basic childhood training, the stranglers were just hard as f£$k!

Truly awesome band. Never saw them live but was telling people about them since 1978 when I first heard them.

I saw them dozens of times from 76 to 79. They changed the scene.

Stiv is actually from my hometown Youngstown Ohio. Too young to have seen them but was listening from a young age
Johnny is one of the coolest dudes I have ever gotten to hang out with

It was gang related. The opposing group was Puerto Rican gang and Blitz was allegedly in ab opposing gang
