I live in the middle of the city and have no need for any of these tips, but you are infectious and I can't get enough of your videos! :-) I think deep down inside, this city girl is yearning for a homestead too. Thanks for sharing!
Love her videos, especially with mules. She is living a country way of life, we should all be so lucky. P.S. Charlie has a big fan in me, if only my mule was as well mannered.
I think people forget about the concept of Homesteading... Calling a professional to pay someone to do your horses/mules is redundant if you learn/know how to do it properly. It's not that hard to learn and people have been doing this for ages. I know every farmer I know that owns horses does this kind of maintenance like this on their own. They'll only call a farrier when their horses need shoeing or have a problem with their hooves. Clipping hooves is not something you need to spend money on honestly. It's routine maintenance -- no different than clipping a dog or cat's claws. If you learn how to do it properly you can/should do it yourself since your animals trust you a bit more than they would someone else. That being said, nice work :)
My dad had a donkey that hated this. He had foundered early in life. And needed his feet trimmed probably 8-10 times a year. Don't know how old he was when he died but he was in our family for 30 years. The only time we ever had any problems was getting his feet trimmed.
Ooooooohhh, how awesome. My donkey Doodles is very guarded about his feet and used to try and kick my head off every time. He is better now after 10 years, thank goodness. ☀️❤️☀️
Becky. What kind of hoof trimmers do you have? I have been thinking about trimming our horses hooves. But I am so scared I will do it wrong. Like cut too much or get them off balance. I do have a hoof jack now. Which is nice. And do you sharpen your hoof knife? And how do you do it? I have a dull one.
Hey Becky, I got a quick question or you, I’m thinking of starting my backyard coop of 2-4 hens. My main concern is that where I live, in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 it gets really hot in the summer ( around 40+ degrees Celsius which is around 100 degrees Fahrenheit) and really cold in the winter, with temperatures reaching 13 degrees Celsius which is around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Are there any breeds of chickens which can make it through these climates, i been searching and only find breed which are either breeds for cold or breeds for hot. You have inspired me to want to raise chickens but I’m praying my parents will allow me once they see I know so much.. thanks for any help Anthony albazi
A range of 55 to 100 is normal. Just make sure your coop is built in dark shade. Go to my web site Beckyshomestead.com then click Chickens in the search box. I have made lots of videos to help☀️❤️☀️
Hey Becky, does the hatchery you buy chicks from ship out to Australia? And I wanted to know which you would recommend, buying unsexed chicks, with unknown breeds for 3 dollars at a flea market or spend a lot of money on sexed known breeds which come from a hatechery
If I decide to go to the flea markets the ways of ‘sexing’ knowing the sex of your birds is looking at their feathers and if the have paintbrushes shaped feathers it a female and long straight indicate a male, another way I have seen is holding the chick the neck and letting it hang and if it kicks it’s a male and if it dosent it’s a girl. Are these ways actually true
Wish you could help me with my spoiled rot horse. I take all blame for him but I am determined this year to get him standing for me to trim. What brand stand do you use? I have a homemade one that is to bulky but these store bought are so expensive.
I wish you were here to help me with my new 2yr old filly. She was neglected and not properly handled...to say it nicely..does not want her feet or legs or much of anything and her feet need done now...love from Montana
No equine likes their feet and legs touched much. That does not mean it was mistreated. It means it was never trained. Just start training her. Nice and slow, With your hands, start stroking her legs and move down to her feet. Once she lets you do that, pick up her hoof and put it right back down. Do that to all 4. ☀️❤️☀️
Becky's Homestead yeah her ppl never touched her for over a yr...then lassode her and hit her in the face ect to rustle her up to go to the sale barn..so she's headshy n I'm starting from the top down..she's doing better..I'm just in a hurry cuz her feet need trimmed
Becky's Homestead Thanks Becky...she comes up n nods for me to halter her now..shes letting me touch her all over plus she's lifting her front feet for me..I was about to give up on her n then it all started clicking in for her...love your videos..down to earth n common sense..don't see or hear that much these days
to be honest this woman doesn't really know what she's talking about, you can tell by the way she stresses how every horse has a cleft right there and I'm not sure all do, he's VERY high at the back he should be shorter than that think triangle rather than club, like this he's standing on his toes, if you want to see someone who really knows about farriery don't follow this chariltan who would have you put bleach down inside a hole in her horses foot and stretch it open! Follow Bill Campenelli, this guy really knows what he's talking about and you'll learn a LOT about what a normal hoof looks like, thanks to him I actually know what my horses hooves should look like
Non of my horses, pony's, donkey or mules have ever taken a lame step. Thunder is 25 and perfectly sound. As Granny always said "the proof is in the pudding" ☀️❤️☀️
Please call a professional. It does not cost that much to have it done correctly. When I watch the farrier do our horses hooves they surely don't look like the ones you've done.
Becky's Homestead ..You are correct I've never seen mule hooves trimmed before, but next time the farrier is here I will definitely ask a professional about it.
Most farriers don't do mules or donkeys. I have been trimming all for years and years. Everything from drafts to Minnie's, mules, donkey's ponies, horses. I know what I'm doing. ☀️❤️☀️
Michelle Ainsworth you have to do this to horses, donkey's, and mules or their hooves will grow and grow, well let me save my time. Just look up "horses with elf shoes" it's animal abuse to not trim them.
What you are looking at is confident skill and a healthy, happy, well trained mule. If you can't see that, I feel sorry for any animal you own because you can't tell what happy looks like. ☀️❤️☀️
Becky's Homestead ok mate u win ur a jack of all all trade BUT a master at none .Please dont feel sorry for my animals they are in top notch. Why u ask because i have a proffesional that did the years learning and understanding the anatomy of my horses feet.I would Never hack at my horses feet like u have. The only thing your confident in is your arrogance👌
@@michelleainsworth9120 I know this is super late but that’s not the whole saying “A jack of all trades is a master of none” but there’s more “a jack of all trades is a master of none but still always better then a master of one” she’s doing a wonderful job on her homestead.
Who was here when becky had brown hair???

Hahahaha thank you so much. I hope I convince you. The Homestead life is the best!! ☀️❤️☀️

You are a very good teacher 🙏
Becky you express what i am trying to tell so many people in the country where i live.
How often does a mule need his hooves trimmed?
Hi Becky, what are the uses of having a mule? What work do they do and what do you use them for?
Glad to see you again. I love watching your videos and thank you so much for all wonderful experiences you share with us. Best regards
Your welcome ☀️❤️☀️

Thanks Becky. You speak my language
what size hoof standard do you use?
Becky!! You have blonde hair!! Looks great and that is one good looking mule!!

Hi, go to my web site Beckyshomestead.com then click on Horses in the search box. In there you will find a video on How to trim horse hooves. ☀️❤️☀️

Only the feather way is true. Don't hold any by the neck. ☀️❤️☀️
Dang Becky you are good at sooo many things
Hahaha, that's the Homesteader in me ☀️❤️☀️
Becky, how tall is he? I live for how you teach people things about the mule!
Wish you could help me with my spoiled rot horse. I take all blame for him but I am determined this year to get him standing for me to trim. What brand stand do you use? I have a homemade one that is to bulky but these store bought are so expensive.
I have a hoof jack brand. Step one is to train your horse. It is very hard to trim an untrained, spoiled horse. ☀️❤️☀️
That is step one for sure. I will be working on that soon
Thank you for sharing.

Love the video Becky. I was wondering if you could make a video on how to hatch ducks.
Thank you- interesting video
Can you make a video on your cat or your horse?
Ok, I'll try ☀️❤️☀️
Becky's Homestead thanx 😊I also would like to know how often a pasture needs to be mucked out based on space bc I'm confused about that😂
Great video Becky
Oh thank you so much. ☀️❤️☀️
Is it the same for donkeys
Mules can have a donkey's foot or a horse's. You are better off finding someone who knows the difference in a donkeys feet and a horse's foot
You are just wonderful
Thanks so much☀️❤️☀️
Love how you mule stand so still my horse would never do that😂
Yes, I believe you horse would stand just as well with steady, confident and consistent training sessions - you’d be surprised. 😉

Becky's Homestead yea your such a good homesteader Becky.
Love your knowledge of this kind of stuff
Thanks, Homesteaders have to kind of be a jack of all trades. That fits me because I like to bounce around☀️❤️☀️
You are so sweet! Thanks so much!
File?? I guess you mean a Rasp
1:08 😂😂😂😂
Hi Esther ☀️❤️☀️
Becky's Homestead HIAA BECKYY
Hi
You had to "teach Charlie" how to trim his own feet?
Please call a professional. It does not cost that much to have it done correctly. When I watch the farrier do our horses hooves they surely don't look like the ones you've done.
Well if you knew anything about mule or donkey hooves, you would know the difference. ☀️❤️☀️
Just because you've been doing something for years doesn't make it right.
Ya, well sound awesome hooves and animals that never take a lame step for decades means I know what I'm doing. ☀️❤️☀️
Send this video to Amy Schumer so she can show it to the person that does HER hooves!
why am i here becky? i don’t have a horse nor am i a farrier
i wouldnt let u cut my finger nails

Michelle Ainsworth my main problem is your use of English. What are you saying, exactly?
@@michelleainsworth9120 I know this is super late but that’s not the whole saying “A jack of all trades is a master of none” but there’s more “a jack of all trades is a master of none but still always better then a master of one” she’s doing a wonderful job on her homestead.
they look to tall
It's a mule, not a horse. They are different. ☀️❤️☀️
Its painful seeing your fake blonde hair. When your hair is back to normal I'll see your videos.
Concentrate on the message and get over the hair☀️❤️☀️
Stop being negative, no ones forcing u to watch her amazing videos, thanks
S Cin that was a super rude comment, Becky and her babies are wonderful in any shape, size or hair, be nice😉😊.
Feel free to move on nobody needs to have negative comments said about them
