    Would it be ok for the college to ask for volunteers for the focus group? Why or why not? Are there pros and cons for each sampling approach? Which is best and why?

  • @Harlem55
    @Harlem55 Год назад

    Better to use a RAND call in php/mysql. The reason why is because phps RAND call is truely mathmatically random to a factor of probabillity of near infinity. In Excell, the formula they used is broken and the returned values are only random to a low factor of probabillity.

    I found out a problem. Although the rand and rank functions work well on my simple quiz excel sheet (selecting random questions for users), the content change every time when a user only edit an answer field.
    This is not only annoying but also messing up the answer corresponding to the original question. Is there a way to stop refreshing please? Thanks a lot for comment.

    How would I do a random sampling from a group of numbers and only return 5% of the numbers?

    • @CheckYourAssumptions
      @CheckYourAssumptions  3 года назад

      Hi Tabitha-
      Thanks for your question. You would do the analysis the same way (create a rand column and sort by it), but then you'd only use the top 5% of rows. To figure out how many rows make up 5%, multiply the total number of rows in your data by 0.05. So for example, if you have 100 rows of data, 100 x 0.05 = 5, which means you'd only use the top 5 rows. I hope this answer was helpful.

    Using a population of 35 women and 10 men.
    a. Create an excel sheet containing their names and sex
    b. Create a random sample of 18 people.
    What does the B mean?
    Any help?

      @muthuicyrus 7 лет назад

      how?

    • @sergioscudieri3585
      @sergioscudieri3585 6 лет назад +3

      cyrusville Step 1: Go into Excel Options 2. Select Add-ins 3. Under that there should be a section called "manage" at the bottom. Select go 4. There will list a few options to add in. Select analysis toolpack. 5. Select data on the ribbon and on the very right side will display "Data analysis." 6. You select that and it will give you the option to display sample numbers from a population in whichever way you desire (one being random)

    • @bojarneving6847
      @bojarneving6847 5 лет назад +2

      No, not wasted - the Toolpack applies sampling with replacement which oftentimes is less useful

      This is a "Simple Random Sample" since each record has an equal probability of being selected.
