    Made yourself - damn. Looks pretty damn good man. Almost as nice as a tarheel. You did great.
    I am watching this list because my first colony will be the same species (waiting for spring).
    Keep up the good work brother from the south (San Diego here) - so more like brother from the east. Lol.

    These ants look great. I have messor barbarus harvester ants. Would love to get hold of some of these. I live in London so they may not agree with the seasonal climate.

    What a nice, big colony! I've been thinking about getting some Pogonomyrmex occidentalis, but the cost 😅so for now I stick with the ants I can catch.

    Just found your channel, beautiful girls and enjoyed the video, gonna check out some more :) thanks for making them

  • @TheDragonBloom
    @TheDragonBloom 2 года назад +2

    YES! We need a long video of these girls going about their daily business! I recently compressed a 20 minute feeding video of my Campos into a timelapse on my channel. Not saying that you should do that.... just throwing the idea out there. I REALLY LOVE TIMELAPSES!

    What seeds are you feeding them?

  • @mutanthybrid3466
    @mutanthybrid3466 Год назад +1

    I wonder if it would be feasible to use a very thin (thinner than the ants can fit through) second layer of glass or plex on the inside that could be slid out and cleaned without having to remove the glass completely and disrupt the colony so much all the time?

  • @manzano341
    @manzano341 2 года назад +1

    They look great. I also have a colony of that species but in an acrylic ant farm.
    Could you tell me the name of that material ? I need to make a bigger house for them. My queen is two years old

    • @downsouthantkeeper3802
      @downsouthantkeeper3802  Год назад +1

      Without knowing what your set up is it will be difficult to help you. However sometimes they just don’t make it. It’s a sad reality.

      @@downsouthantkeeper3802 I just put them back into a test tube setup, I've been feeding them dandelion seeds and kentucky blue grass, I drop it in there and they dont seem to have an interest.

    Harvester ants are interesting. They can survive only on seeds and water in winter ☝️
