The Most Underrated Event In Track & Field!

  • No other movement in sport subjects a human limb to more force than the step in the triple jump. How much force? Research at the University of Iowa showed that the force exerted by a triple jumper can be up to to 22 times the athletes body weight. According to Dr Sam Allen, a lecturer in biomechanics at Loughborough University, that’s the equivalent of an athlete briefly weighing 1.7 tonnes / 3600 pounds (or the weight of a fully grown rhino) and briefly standing on one leg. Published papers have proven triple jumpers develop unusually thick thigh and shin bones to enable them to withstand the force of the event.
    And that is just one of the reasons the triple jump might be the most underrated event in track and field. This video highlights an incredible track and field event at 1000 frames per second from the hop to the step to the jump.

      Assuming that everyone watches the NBA is false, but even 10 year olds around the world know what a 1meter is.
      We don't measure distance using distinct human individuals. I was a jumper and if I go to the referee and wait for him to announce my jump's measuring, and he says "7 and a half jordans" fvvk that! I am slapping the sense into him at whatever cost.

    Triple jump is my favorite. My mind is blown at the thought of his second phase being within a foot of the first and third phase distances.
    Still seeing a bunch of long jumpers trying triple jump, and having a tiny step phase.

    • @OutperformOfficial
      @OutperformOfficial  Месяц назад +1

      Absolutely, the step phase is where many athletes struggle, definitely key to the event. Drills that improve rhythm and balance, such as varied distance hop-step-jump drills and bounding exercises really help momentum during the second phase.
