  • This week in Track & Field, the 2024 Diamond League season kicked off in Xiamen China. But it would be a 17yo Christian Miller, stealing the show, breaking the U18 100m world record (9.93s), and Armand Duplantis breaking his 8th pole vault world record.
    Second year in a row a high schooler has been the worlds fastest man.

      Just tinkered with it in audacity and muted some pops. I think i might notice more because i recorded it haha.

    Miller is the entire NIL allowance for Arkansas track if he comes. He's beyond special. If we dont get him, i hope he just goes pro. We're THE school for sprinters.

    Sorry idk anything about this topic and just stumbled upon this vid in my recommended. the table at 9:26 you call the world record doesn't look familiar to me, am I missing some sub category or something? I thought the men's 100m was the famous 9.58?

      Its the under 20 all time leaderboard. Over the past 3 years weve seen the 3 fastest u20s in history, year after year. So the future of sprinting is going to be crazy haha.

    Dumb question: Do they not have wind limits in discus? Seems to me that the OKC throw was pretty much carried away by the wind. That and the nassive difference in distance.

    Olympics is this year and they are progressively going to get faster.. you don’t wanna go all out and potentially injure yourself before the big event especially if you’re the fastest prospect.

    That's great, and it's exciting, but practically never do extreme HS prodigies go on to equivalent later-stage careers. They very top of the elite in pro track were great in HS, but rarely extremely aberrant

    Something is wrong with sprinters. We had an era where the elite guys were peaking at 9.7 or so around 2005-2012 and we haven't seen anything close to that since. We have tons of young guys that show potential and then fail to improve year after year. I have to think that the training is wrong

    the pros arent breaking 10 yet because they are in prep for the olympics. Duplantis 'real height' was over 6.35m in 2021. We'll never ever see what he could actually do because they get rewarded per WR, not per cm over the WR...and no love for Simbine's 10.01 into a head wind?..when converted, he is the fastest of all this year so far.

    Excellent Wrap-up! Throwers have been bringing it this year already; Ethan Katzberg, Mykolas Alekna, Yaimé Pérez, Val Allman, 19yr old Max Dehning & 15yr old Ziyi Yan in the Javelin! S/O JuVaughan Harrison's outdoor 2.34m WL, his 4th highest jump ever as his HJ Opener & Kenenisa Bekele's 2.04.15 2nd place in the London Marathon (his 3rd fastest time at almost 42yrs old!). Also, s/o Shafiqua Maloney who's having a great start to the year with PB/NRs in 400/600/800/1000/1500/Mile!

      @@JumpmanTF I think you should as it's an interesting one as her 64.28m WU20 Record not only would've put her in the Top 10 in each of the last 2yrs among the Senior Women, but excceds the 64m Olympic Standard! However, she can't compete in Paris due to a bizarre age restriction preventing U18 athletes from taking part in Throwing Events :(
