wow, The repair shop wanted $ 1,200. Your HOW TOO showed by how and with a $ 6. can of spray cleaner, a tooth brush and a rag I fixed the whole problem=no problem
wish i would have see ur video sooner, had the same problem, dirty throtle. changed the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, distributor cap & rotor and after all that still ran rough and i thought it was a bad fuel injectors' good thing i checked the throtle cuz new injectors for my 01blazer would have ran me a few bills, runs like a champ now! nice video bro
I liked this video, I did something similar on my 2002 S10 4.3, had it cleaned up and did the same thing at first a cloud of grey smoke came out of the exhaust, let it run for a bit at idle and then slowly raved the rpm, took my time getting it to and then 3, no more smoke and truck runs much better.
@memomota as far as the 4.3 stinking, I will have to respectfully disagree. this truck is real light and has plenty of power (same stroke and bore as a 350). These motors take real nicely to bolt on mods. Just upgrading the intake, exhaust, and adding a tune works wonders for this motor. 20mpg in a 13 year old full size truck is not bad gas mileage. It will be even better when I upgrade to a MPFI spider. thanks for watching
@Gasser4x4 yeah the truck had a rough start so I decided to clean it and the MAF sensor. still does it but only when its warm now, so I need to replace the fuel spider (its prolly cracked and leaking) and regulator in there someday. It still has the old cpfi anyways. I just gotta find some time to rip that manifold off and come across $300 for a mpfi spider, gaskets, and decent torque wrench haha. thanks for watching man
I have a 2000 S-10 Blazer 2Dr RWD with a 4.3 . I've had it just over 2 years and put 40K on it. It has 160K total and I do ALL the work on it myself. Haven't had the motor apart yet but it has the spider injection system. Done all the routine stuff to the motor-plugs,cap,rotor. Runs well but gets around 15 MPG on a good day. I'm and old geezer but still do 75 on the highway just to move with the traffic. Done the Seafoam thing and will do this as well as wires and fuel filter.
most of the older 4.3s that weren't vortecs had a throttle body injection setup which is like a carburetor with either 2 or 4 injectors in it. the vortecs has 6 injectors inside the intake manifold which squirted gas in each respective cylinder. they were shaped in a spider like figure which is why they were called spider injectors.
Did it work? My 4.3L V6 Silverado just started having this same problem. It idles rough on start up but once it gets warmed up it works like nothing is wrong.
@Gasser4x4 I wouldn't use brake cleaner on the MAF but im sure its fine to use in the TB. Just give it awhile before you go to start it, that crap burning off could scorch your rings (just a theory). The fuel pump has been replaced on this truck once before I owned it.
having problem with first start on a 92 s10 blazer run but stall out if not pussing on the gas petel did change out fuel pump an fuel fitter but it does this every time i start up an change out stark plug to new ones
tbi are highly restrictive due to the injector bodies blocking the throat of the tbi. The multi ports flow better because the injectors are near the intake valves.
The other product that , I think is better is MAF cleaner , from CRC as it is less abrasive , than carby cleaner , and you can clean your MAF sensor at the same time .
Your not supposed to use carb cleaner on efi. On the plate there's a coating and that carb cleaner will eat that coating off and mess things up. Your actually supposed to use throttle body cleaner for efi.
Too bad I couldn't hear the engine before you cleaned. My 97 - 4.3 has a misfire. I changed the plugs and wires, TPS is good. But, there's fuel coming out of the exhaust. Research suggests to clean the injectors. Were you experiencing anything like that?
hey , i have a question. i have a 2004 s10 w/ a 4.3 ltr vortec.started fine always ... replaced the alternator. 4 days later will not start. i replaced the MAP censor ( because the error code ). it will start then immediately stall after less than a second of running. what are your thoughts? was doing some research and some people say is security issue. but im not sure if is the distributer or not. doesnt seem like a fuel pump, and replaced the fuel filter 1st ...
@Gasser4x4 yep keep it American! I went with 2wd over 4wd because I know how much it costs to replace anything dealing with that. I don't have 18 inches of snow to plow though.. lol. I love this truck man it rips tit with the new custom dual straights and i'm looking at getting a programmer soon. the only thing that it's missing in my eyes is power winders and a posi rear, that pisses me off lol.
When I give my 4.3 Chevy Silverado throttle and let off to shift it stays around 2,000 rpms for about 20 seconds before it comes back down to idle any advice on what this could be causing that
Martin Winblood did you ever figure out what was causing that? I have 2000 4.3 and it does the same thing. Cleaned the throttle body, replaced IACV and still same issue
nice video, i have a 97 silverado 4.3 vortec and i don't really want to spend money on a flowmaster because i think it may not sound good, but yours sound loud like v8 how you make this possible?
I have a 1998 k1500 with the 4.3 vortec. It has nearly 300,000 miles and still runs good. I want to prevent loss of compression and power but I also wan to add more power. What do I do?
put an electric fan on it. takes stress of the motor and water pump bearings. that and take the ac compressor off the belt if it's not working. can just delete that and an idler pully and get a smaller belt without buying a bypass pulley
im buying a 1992 GMC Sonoma 4×4 runs but will lose power and stall out and die and and sometimes u can hold it to the floor and it will spit and spludder and then die
or even some thing simple that is some how clipped to the underside of the hood where it not shake & move around & is out of your way as well & YET WE SEE ALL THREW YOUR CAMERA..............

yours wasnt too grimey at all. thats actually a really nice truck. still sounding super badass too!
"Honey, my toothbrush tastes weird!"

Sincerely, thank you. What intake upgrades did you do,? I'd like to follow your lead.
Great video .I have the same 4.3l have you done spark plug and wires ? I'm trying to do it tomorrow any advice ? Thanks

how much was the k & n contraption breather thing......???? & what was the #'s again..........

So how often when would you recommend doing this? Cleaning the "Throttle Body?"
Would this help with it turning off on u while u put it in drive & reverse if someone can get at me
Remember to reprogram the throttle position sensor!!

Thanks for doing this vid. Great tip!
i have a 98 4.3L which very recently has began idling extremely high. Could a dirty tbi cause this problem

Bryan Ross I had a misfire. turns out, it was the distributor cap and button.

Whats wierd is I have a 1995 S-10 4.3L v6, but it has the big round metal breather on it like most older cars. Wonder if theres a difference?

@paradoxdesigns thanks man was cleaner than i expected, just put a CAI on the truck it rips tit now! should have the vid out tomorrow!
