Great video. I cleaned the throttle body on my 99 Chevy Tahoe and OMG what a difference, truck is running like new. I uses to always have the check engine light on. I replaces the TPS SENSOR about 3 times and it still wouldn't go away, after cleaning the throttle body check engine light went away. Again great video. Thank you!
My mom’s 1997 Silverado 5.7 was stalling. 95,000 miles. It was purchased new in 1997. I pulled off the throttle body and completely cleaned it using “Lectromotive” spray and a plastic bristle brush. It fixed the problem.
It's hard to find a quality video like this, thanks for putting in the time. My idle is rough when stopped in drive. Might give this a shot, after I replace my fuel filter. Thank you
thank you so much for posting this! one of the best tutorials I've found online. I'll be attempting this this weekend(if my husband will let me lol). thumbs up and subbed!
Thanks man I had that problem with my truck jus other day, last night I cleaned out the throttle, charged tha battery and it started right up...my check engine light and check gauges on tha dash board went off as well, ddnt have to go to tha shop or spend a dime, appreciate you... make more videos
I wanna thank you, I cleaned the TBI on a 88 Suburban on the engine. But taking it off to do it correctly and get the backside which I didn’t before. I have the rough idle at turn or and in gear. Tackle tomorrow.
I really appreciate the well made video! I was having a helluva time trying to figure out how to take the cruise control cable off. Now I got it. Thanks so much!!
great video! thanks for posting. vortec is a great engine system. 172000 on my 1997 tahoe. i bet this will increase my mileage. im getting 13 mpg right now supoosed to go up to 17.
Mahalo my braddah. Now I can do my 97. I know how to run heavy equipment but when it comes to maintenance I don't know shizz. Especially my vehicles. Aloha from the great state of Texas.
outstanding instruction. now I think I can do this to my 98 k1500. I wouldn't have attempted before watching this video. my idle is only a tad rough but was wondering why. now I know. Thanks!!
Thank you so much for the video, totally worked! I own a 1997 K1500 that had a rough idle, smell of gas from exhaust, ran fine at highway speed or once warmed up, used your video, sure enough, horrible carbon buildup, worse than yours. Cleaned it up real good, runs like a champ!!
There's some orange residue from the gasket on the outer diameter of your throttle body inlet (on the TOP)... You did not discuss this gasket because it presumably didn't need to be changed. But what is that orange circular gasket called, and where can I buy it?? Mine is in very poor condition and I can't find it online so far. Thanks
I really appreciate your help. I've recently done what you said on my 97 suburban. and it works. now! what type of exhaust do u have on your truck? it really sounds Nice!!
I HAVE A HESITATION WITH MY TRUCK, I PUT ON A NEW FUEL PUMP AND CHANGED THE THREE SENSORS ON THE THROTTLE BODY.... IT'S STILL HAS HESITATION ... WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO, DIAGNOSTIC SHOP COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM
Hey really nice video and great explanation. Just a couple of questions, 1st- what kind of aftermarket intake is that? (K&N) size? Also I noticed several other mods on your Tahoe. I have a 1997 LT four door 5.7 that I am fixing up. ITs got over 360k on the odometer, and needs a new gauge setup. Mine has the tendency to jump around. Maybe you could go over a few of these issues in a future Video for us guys who love the Tahoe's and big butt Chevy's..LOL Thank you, Mr. E. (?)
I had a missing in 5.7 vortec engine, would go dead at red lights and stop signs, cleaned throttle body with carburetor cleaner and toothbrush.ris like a top now
i did it to mine and it worked awesome... and my friend told me to do the same thing to his but why is his idle at 2,000 rpm? my was like at 800 working fine but he just puts it in Drive and goes up 🤔
So I’ve been chasing a super high idle. Around 1800 rpm. I’ve checked for leaks with propane, brake cleaner and soapy water. Nothing. Replaced iac. Nothing. Cleaned and inspected throttle body and surfaces. No change. Any advice?
Will this correct an issue with backfire/misfire? My truck at times, has this pop sound, with some smoke and rough idle. Once I give it some gas and let it clear up, it idles fine.
Been thinking about upgrading to a k&n intake on my 97 K1500. I've heard mostly good things, but the people that aren't satisfied go way out of their ways to complain, mostly about how it loosens up so quickly and needs readjustment constantly. Thoughts?
Holy crap great vid, and you didn't even bother removing the butterfly restriction plate? what a waste bro. Oh i have the K&N intake aswell, but i removed the MAF screen and throttle plate restriction. well start this car up now... LOL LOL
So If The Throttle Body Is Dirty Or Clogged Will It Cause My Truck To Surge In Gear Or Backfire Sometimes But Other Times The Truck Runs Like It's Brand New 1998 GMC Sierra with The 5.7 Liter
97 chevrolet. po300 misfire ? 50-60 mph. misses pulling a trailer much worse..changed mass air flo, o2 sensors , ign.coil. dist with cap n rotor, plugs wires. plugs, fuel pump., filter, what to do?
Excuse me sir, Can I clean the throttle body without remove it from the engine ? by the way, I think you should remove the negative plug from battery before do this work. that will turn off the light of (Check Engine) / (Service Engine Soon) :)
I have a 1999 Yukon Denali 5.7 I'm having issues when my truck is my RPM jump at idle and it's ruf when I hit the gas trying to figure it out I have a new block and it just re-sent started doing it any ideas on what it could be its not throwing any codes
This guy did a good job but , what also should be done is separate the air idle control valve and clean it . Also clean the the throttle body where the air idle control valve goes back into. But in your case I would check the brake light switch.
Having a hard time finding a guide for my 1990 C1500 w/ the 5.7 L V8 engine. Gas pedal is sticking and I assume it's the same issue shown in this video...? Could someone point me in the right direction for the '90 model year?

I did this following his work....man the difference it makes. No more rough idle. Cost me 3.50 to get it done.
Nice
Great video! Your camera, angles, lighting and easy to understand explanation were excellent! Thank you.
It's hard to find a quality video like this, thanks for putting in the time. My idle is rough when stopped in drive. Might give this a shot, after I replace my fuel filter. Thank you
Thanks for the video. This was not something I would've attempted without the video.
Great video, appreciate the patience with camera focus, it really helps to get to know what to do precisely. Will do this on our 96 tahoe.
Bam -- great video Leaman. You explained everything so well. I cleaned mine on a 98 Silverado and it runs great. Thanks so much hero.
thank you so much for posting this! one of the best tutorials I've found online. I'll be attempting this this weekend(if my husband will let me lol). thumbs up and subbed!

Nice video - like a professional with that camera.
Great video, I appreciate the detailed instructions.
Thank you for making such a helpful video! Man what camera are you using I like it!
Oil air separator in line to the crank case vent to the throttle body or air intake keeps your throttle body and valves cleaner, longer.
Beautiful box brotha!!!! I'm about to do the same thing on my 99 yukon
Very detailed video. Thank you.
Surprised you didn't remove diffuser off throttle plate, since you had it all apart. Heard it really improves performace.
I love how you pulled the cables one handed cause mine is kicking my ass, I can't get it off for shit 😡😡😡😡😡😡
Great video good Heads up on the maintenance.
This also works on on 4.3 if some people didn't know the throttle body is the same as the older 5.7s
Awesome ty

Is there a gasket that goes on the top of the throttle body?

THAT IS A GOOD QUESTION DID YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE GASKET
I had a missing in 5.7 vortec engine, would go dead at red lights and stop signs, cleaned throttle body with carburetor cleaner and toothbrush.ris like a top now

Vacuum leak or bad idle air control valve
Great video! I'm trying it today.

Really good tutorial will it work on the 305 5.0
Appreciate your help ✌️
These engines have a sensitive dist. Cap and rotor. Twice on my engine, I couldn’t get it to start. And replacing these items solved it.
Is there a throttle positioning sensor you have to worry about on moving your butterfly?

It was a k&n intake system.

Do you have any other nfo for the aftermarket parts you used?
Is this your daily driver
97 chevrolet. po300 misfire ? 50-60 mph. misses pulling a trailer much worse..changed mass air flo, o2 sensors , ign.coil. dist with cap n rotor, plugs wires. plugs, fuel pump., filter, what to do?
