The synth sounds amazing and the presets are really high quality, anyway I'm not sure I would purchase since I think it's possible to do almost everything in Bitwig, what do you think about purchasing this synth?, if you are capable of doing your sounds in bitwig and also using the community patches.
There is always the discussion that you can create anything in anything...sort of. These are all tools, and they are all layed out differently. They are all kings in some parts. It think Rapid has it's place. I think it has a great simple layout. I could easily get to the sounds I wanted to create with the osc, osc-effects and the excellent sounding filters and onboard effects. Reverb and delays really shine in this one. @@MattiasHolmgren Hi Mattias, lovely of you having braught a quick answer. Good points there. Wasn`t blown out by Avenger, but according to your experience will keep this baby in sight ;))
Oh yes indeed. Its really impressive it was at zero during the whole demo. :) I never bumped into any issues although I do have issues some times with audio during Recording these videos caused by videocapture software and special setups to get picture from the EOS750D directly into OBS at the same time as I do screencapture. But thats not the DAW or plugins fault. Thanks for writing phero! How are you this early december? Spent a fortune on Black Friday? 😋
Mattias Holmgren maybe get a cheap 2nd pc for the recording stuff? I only bought Melodyne this time around. I was really tempted by phase plant (also because of your fine review) but, I mean, I should really just do something with the many hardware and software Synths I already have! I’ve had a bad case of GAS lately.
@@summerWTFE the amount of computer is not the issue. There are too many around. Lol. I do want to keep the sessions tight and without too many factors going on. So one sturdy Mac will have to do for video sessions. Though i am planning to use an externa fx unit to handle all voice over pre Processing instead of with plugins in OBS.
Hey Neti. Good to hear from you. I rarely go for the standard libraries, but rather look up specific libraries for each country when going for oriental instruments. Like Korean for korean type songs. Japanese, China etc. There is some really carefully sampled and natural sounding Korean Kontakt libraries. Can't remember the page (google for: GugakVSTi and you should fint those). When I need bread and butter "oriental" instruments I go for either Omnisphere 2, Silk or Ra. They are very nice. Still love some of the presets in the East West suite of instruments. They will live on for a long time. Omnisphere 2 has this really nice "phrases" category of samples which is a HUGE collection of great phrases which you can turn into pure tonal instruments, or just use them as the phrases they are. ;) For folky instruments / fantasy worlds I sometimes go for the ERA collections from Best Service (courtesy of the artist Eduardo Tarilonte). Many times I have to look up exact instruments used in the "oriental" country of interest. But that's because I often write these to picture or game and then the film / game directors are often very specific on the region and instruments use in those places. To give it some kind of authenticity. ;) I've also bought some instruments specific for certain pieces. Like the Bawu, which I used in a few scores for specific films. Love it! Hope this give you some direction.

Yes, basic Multi Sample import, which will spread the samples out on the keybed (according to file-naming) I did drag in some samples from some old multi sampled instr. You arrive to a step where you get to adjust each sample position and range, then you import that into a sound-source preset (like in Omnisphere...but now it's multi samples across the keybed) Though I didn't get how to edit the multi samples later if I want to adjust it after it's imported. Maybe it means deep-diving in meta data. So it's not the same open architecture as you get in, say a sampler like Kontakt. But this isn't a sampler (per se) either. From the manual regarding multi sample import: Multi-sample mapping can either be read from MIDI unity note information (which can be edited manually in Wave Lab or FL Studio's Edison) or by parsing note information from your sound filenames. For e.g. adding something like: sound_c4.wav, sound_e4.wav, and sound_g#4.wav will have the software automatically detect the pitch positions C4, E4, and G#4 for the correct sounds. • Force Loops - Creates loop positions in samples 0 up-to -1. Use this when your sound data doesn't contain embedded loop data, if you want to produce looping. • Extra Feature! - You can also use tagging for velocity or round robin support. ◦ Velocity. For e.g. guitar_c4_v0.wav, guitar_c4_v1.wav, guitar_c4_v2.wav will map all samples to C4, with different velocity values. ◦ Round Robin. For e.g. guitar_c4_r0.wav, guitar_c4_r1.wav, and guitar_c4_r2.wav will cause a variation of these samples to be triggered if C4 is pressed multiple times. ◦ Both together. Velocity and round robin tagging can be used simultaneously, for a combination of velocity-sensitive round robin mapping!
I don't think so. At least I didn't notice any random Button in the interface. Hmm.. Maybe take a peak inside the manual. I rarely leave things to random when working. Aside from conditional triggers on the Digitakt. 😋 Its a neat function to make static patterns come alive. Thanks!
IMO Rapid measures up great against Serum. I think the fx of Rapid is a tad better (reverb, delays etc.) But in Serum you have the built in OTT which is superb. But you can always use the separate free OTT plugin anyways so... That said, Serum did add some new features so you can modulate nodes in the LFOs etc which is awesome...It's almost like Bitwig Studio modulators within a synth. ;D Thanks Howard!
Serum is hardly the king of VST synths. It pales in comparison to UVI Falcon's power and endless capabilities. Even Phase Plant is much more powerful than Serum. It is debatable if Pigments 2 surpassed Serum. But, yes, keep using Serum if that works for you and helps you to be creative. More power to you and Serum if it allows you to write music. It just isn't the king of synths-plain and simple.
Finally got it sorted out, but developer response was a bit delayed. Other than that I really like this plugin. Especially the interface. I think it will beat Omnisphere and Serun in the way it is designed (though the sounds are different and hard to compare). I think they really will soon lead the market if they continue great work and improve the support.
Yeah, it definitely had some Boards of Canada over it. I actually did design a few presets while testing out Rapid in the nostalgic BoC type of vibe. I really like those type of sounds. Big Room isn't my typical cup of tea either. But I do like melodic dubstep and glitch hop. But BoC sounds win any day. ;)
@@MattiasHolmgren I'm trying to determine if I should get this. What other VSTs would you compare to this or say if I have then i probably dont need this? I appreciate you're time greatly Mattias. 🙏🏾 Thank You
@@SAMMY_ELWAY its similar to Vengeance VPS Avenger / Phase Plant. But not completely. As always I suggest downloading demo and find out IF it suits you. 😊
Main reason for me is low cpu, you can say that doesn't matter but it does as getting low latency alone hammers cpu, so do other plugins, to not have to freeze tracks is the motive, that being said Dune 3 is the low cpu king and as great as Rapid is, it it's judt not as easy to get great sounds out of as Dune.
Today we look at Rapid Synthesizer v1.7 by Parawave Audio. This is a very deep and capable synth. It features 8 layers (parts) and has 3 oscillators per layer. The layers can be mixed and matched and layered in various ways. Rapid can handle Phase Modulation (FM), Wavetable scanning, multisample playback (with sample import). Rapid also has some of the best effects I've ever encountered in a vst synth (very lush reverb). Hope you enjoy the review. Got any questions? Write them below! Yeah it's a nice trancy EDM track. Love those subtle evolving arps and pulsing bass. I used to make some tracks in the trance genre back in the day. Still love the sounds and many tracks in the genre. Thanks for the nostalgic backflip 3DFX.
LSG ftw, love a lot of that guys stuff, check out his unreleased album with the blue cover. Inside Voices, Into Deep and Vol. 2 LP's too. Prolific and talented producer.
cool 👍 thanks
No problem 👍
Just disvcovered this one on KVR. What about its CPU imprint (3x8 osc. + unison+ granular...) ???
Hi Etienne, dunno about this exact 3x8osc+unison+granular (cpu demand), but I never felt Rapid was heavy on the CPU. The effects in it sound really dope though.🌞
@@MattiasHolmgren Hi Mattias, lovely of you having braught a quick answer. Good points there. Wasn`t blown out by Avenger, but according to your experience will keep this baby in sight ;))
Great review and great synth. The most impressive was the zero percent cpu usage though. ;)
Mattias Holmgren is there a Unit which has all the processing tools you need for that? Or do you plan on using multiple effects?
@@summerWTFE I'm gonna try out the Zoia for pre-processing voice over. Fun experiment. ;)
What is considered as gold standard library for the most realistic sounding oriental traditional/folk instruments?
Omnisphere 2 has this really nice "phrases" category of samples which is a HUGE collection of great phrases which you can turn into pure tonal instruments, or just use them as the phrases they are. ;)
For folky instruments / fantasy worlds I sometimes go for the ERA collections from Best Service (courtesy of the artist Eduardo Tarilonte).
Many times I have to look up exact instruments used in the "oriental" country of interest.
But that's because I often write these to picture or game and then the film / game directors are often very specific on the region and instruments use in those places. To give it some kind of authenticity. ;)
I've also bought some instruments specific for certain pieces. Like the Bawu, which I used in a few scores for specific films. Love it!
Hope this give you some direction.
i can't find a plugin specifically for the instrument named kobyz.
@@encapsulatio Yeah, some more "obscure" instruments can be hard to find. Sorry, can't help you out with this one.

multisample playback (with MULTI-sample import)?
Yes, basic Multi Sample import, which will spread the samples out on the keybed (according to file-naming) I did drag in some samples from some old multi sampled instr.
You arrive to a step where you get to adjust each sample position and range, then you import that into a sound-source preset (like in Omnisphere...but now it's multi samples across the keybed)
Though I didn't get how to edit the multi samples later if I want to adjust it after it's imported. Maybe it means deep-diving in meta data. So it's not the same open architecture as you get in, say a sampler like Kontakt. But this isn't a sampler (per se) either.
From the manual regarding multi sample import:
Multi-sample mapping can either be read from MIDI unity note information (which can be edited manually in Wave Lab or FL Studio's Edison) or by parsing note information from your sound filenames. For e.g. adding something like: sound_c4.wav, sound_e4.wav, and sound_g#4.wav will have the software automatically detect the pitch positions C4, E4, and G#4 for the correct sounds.
• Force Loops - Creates loop positions in samples 0 up-to -1. Use this when your sound data doesn't contain embedded loop data, if you want to produce looping.
• Extra Feature! - You can also use tagging for velocity or round robin support.
◦ Velocity. For e.g. guitar_c4_v0.wav, guitar_c4_v1.wav, guitar_c4_v2.wav will map all samples to C4, with
different velocity values.
Hi Mattias! Does this synthesizer have a "Randomize" button to create new cosmic sounds?
I don't think so. At least I didn't notice any random Button in the interface. Hmm.. Maybe take a peak inside the manual. I rarely leave things to random when working. Aside from conditional triggers on the Digitakt. 😋 Its a neat function to make static patterns come alive. Thanks!
How does this synth measure up vs. king Serum?
It just isn't the king of synths-plain and simple.
thank You
You are welcome, do you have Rapid already? Tried the demo? I think it's a quick synth to work with and those effects. ;)
@@MattiasHolmgren tested the demo and was impressively impressed
)
Awesome yeah I'm gonna work it some more this evening and see if I can compile some presets for Rapid.
Purchased and getting errors while installing. Company not responding to my messages :-(
Weird. What are the install errors? On what OS are you installing?
Finally got it sorted out, but developer response was a bit delayed. Other than that I really like this plugin. Especially the interface. I think it will beat Omnisphere and Serun in the way it is designed (though the sounds are different and hard to compare). I think they really will soon lead the market if they continue great work and improve the support.
@@sadarahurh8794give me the Rapid please link 😢
Man I wish ana2 had the same accessablility as this synth does.
Yeah, Rapid is really swift to work with! ;)
Preset at 2:20 sounds so BoC but I'm not so much a fan of the big room and trance ones.
Yeah, it definitely had some Boards of Canada over it. I actually did design a few presets while testing out Rapid in the nostalgic BoC type of vibe. I really like those type of sounds. Big Room isn't my typical cup of tea either. But I do like melodic dubstep and glitch hop.
But BoC sounds win any day. ;)
где можно скачать?
You can buy Rapid from Parawave Audio. ;D
I thought Rapid was a Rompler Synth?
It supports sample / multisample playback but is more of a synth. 😃
Dune 3 also has a very sweet sound engine 👌🥳
@MattiasHolmgren That is true, but so does Spire, Diva, and a few other less cpu friendly synths.

May want to checkout Sami Rabia (Aiyn Zahev Sounds) reviews too. ruclips.net/video/JrF7TLjOAis/видео.html & ruclips.net/video/Izhvutu8HY8/видео.html I hope they put in MSEG env/lfo's at some point, mouse drag features (like changing wavetables with an up/down mousedrag) and a XY performance pad (Hive has a great implementation of that), glad they put in the new skins too; I didn't really consider it before because of their original skins. I just bought this on Black Friday, great puchase!
Hi Ouchie good to see you! How have you been?
Yeah it's a really neat synth, wasn't on my radar previously either. But I clearly see potential how the modules are layed out. Original skin was....like plugins looked back then. This new skin makes it look like all other modern synths. Hive. ;) I like the color scheme and clear visual feedback.
