In our fifty first video, we visit the Southampton Boat Show in Mayflower Park (SO14 postcode), get told we can't fly a drone without their permission, threatened with not letting us leave the area by a manager and stalked by the security team.

I get that officers just listen and note down and there’s no way to know they’re lying in all cases but I’ve seen loads where the auditor shows the footage and the copper ignores the lies and false complaints anyway

Drama Queen was just a bully.
As a Southampton resident I often use Mayflower park to watch the liners come and go. It is a public park and the boat show for weeks stop me doing that activity. It takes ages for the grass to recover afterwards. My point is the organisers should not be so pompous to stop law abiding citizens go about their day like a drone pilot. The park is owned and run by the council who use it as a money making event.

council DO NOT own the park, the people own it, the council are just representatives for the people and paid to do the job by the people. its why we can vote them in and out, they actually own nothing at all.

She was very good. A real credit.
She was logical and reasonable, it was a pleasure to watch how she deals with situations.
That bit of what she did was commendable, but she didn't apply the law properly. She bowed down to a commercial enterprise instead of telling them that he could fly the drone legally.
Impossible in current UK policing. Anyone the average Brit would think ideal as a police commissioner, will be sidelined and blocked from promotion to senior ranks. This is exactly why they stopped hiring ex-military individuals and now recruit from universities. They also prefer, if not require, a degree for applicants. They actively WANT to staff their ranks with woke lefties.

People seem to want authority of others in society these days. First its follow OUR policy. Then goes to do what WE say. Then results in baseless accusations to get you into trouble. Dave telling you you couldn't leave in such a threatening tone could be seen as unlawful imprisonment. You don't have to physically restrain or imprison someone to be guilty of unlawful imprisonment. I would make a complaint to the police, they will investigate and log. Dave could be in trouble, and deservedly so. The woman was excellent, she listened, understood and de-escalated.
She was brilliant - exactly how the others should have behaved.

Always funny how they think they own the airspace. They think the know the alw and such, but they always seems to be wrong. If there are not restrictions, people can fly there. These companies have no clue that people can sue them if the interfere. I wonder if the also stop paying people from taking photographs and video with their phones? It's all about money.
Flying over and losing control and hitting someone on the site would indeed be a health and safety concern but so would driving past and losing control and hitting someone on the site, yet he doesn't seem to have a problem with people driving past. Something being over their site is no more their responsibility than something being next to their site.
I think that drone weighs no more than a pigeon, and is programmed to return to base if it has a problem.
Why do Joe Public and security think they have the god given right to demand your details? i would have asked to see his driving licence and proof of insurance, car reg to check MOT......you do not have to apply to their policy if your not on their site....makes my piss boil!!

It’s weird that they ask to see the insurance, the cars driving past are much more likely to have one crash into the fence yet they don’t want everyone’s car insurance to drive past.
I feel you comprised to much and at some point should have said , I’m cracking on now had enough of your requests and back and forth, and they left thinking they were not wrong as you compromised too much. Just my humble opinion 👍🏻

The guy standing with the police officer earlier told the photographer that he knows about drone laws and not to be so condescending. He clearly doesn't because he told the cop at least twice that, "It's a grey area."
No it isn't. He suggested that if the drone harmed somebody and the drone pilot just walked off, they wouldn't be able to find him. This is complete tosh, because they would have the drone, which carries an operator ID, which would identify him, since he had already said that it's his drone, he's not just the operator.
The guy told a lot of lies, including about the interaction with 'Dave Rogers', about which he already said he knew nothing. How he could have then claimed to the cop that the photographer was aggressive and voices were raised with Dave Rogers eludes me. What a lying sack of s***!
