I've not seen them wearing badges in asda. although most people working in security have done the sia course. when i done the cctv there were people there who worked in the nhs but because part of the job involved used cctv their bosses put them on a course to cover them in case anything went wrong.

Not true. It's illegal to SHOW a light other than white to the front or red to the rear. It's not illegal to have them fitted, just to use them on the road.
They can be fitted and pass an MOT but must not be used on a public road (and probably not a public carpark either?).. Ideally a switch that is not within easy reach of the drivers seat but that's not a law just something I would do. 1) How do you know what colour those roof lights are. 2) It's only an offence to show a blue light to the rear, not to the front. Those look directional.

And far more likely to occur.
