She was a triple agent; a CIA operative infiltrated in the MI6 British service posing as a Brit agent, working for the Brits, pretending to shift sides as a doble agent, passing allied 'information' to the Soviet KGB through the East Germany STASI secret service. Sick.
Can hardly express how much I love this movie, it's so stylish, it's in europe, it has Charlize Theron as the ultimate hardass, the soundtrack is ace, the fashion is so good, oof!👌
@I drink your milkshake Yesssss! Instead of the typical shaky camerawork they do in fightscenes, these are generally very steady and thus so much more convincing
My favorite spy movie. It’s plot is just as complex as mature spy thrillers but packed with good action and other, *entertainment* value scenes. It’s well shot and the dialogue is good enough.
And the fact that it's directed by a stuntman and one of the directors of John Wick (he was uncredited tho) makes it more better. He also knows how to choreograph a fight scene. Man this movie have a talented people behind the camera
Seriously you can't believe that is a realistic action sequence. In almost every action scene Atomic Blonde the stunt crew all take turns in attackacking her. It's way to stylistic.
@@sutlive22 I also heard she bought gifts for the stunt guys she threw down the stairs, in the hall way fight scene, because she threw them down the stairs so many times.
Love it! She's like a female version of Jason Bourne, John Wick, Jack Reacher and Robert McCall (Denzel's character in The Equalizer) all rolled into one. A bit cartoonish, but most action films are when it comes to how the fight sequences go!
Honestly, the action in the movie felt much more realistic. The stairway fight was so good, we saw both sides get tired from all the fighting and injuries they sustained.
Best Charlize Theron pic to date. I love this movie for the style, action and the music. I knew the lyrics to every song on the soundtrack. I have watched this flick over and over.
She's significantly better than Wick. Wick is just a really good killer, nothing more. She's a triple agent, and noticeably smarter in-universe than Wick is in his.
This great scene took after the last shootout in "The Unforgiven." In both scenes, a heavily outnumbered protagonist takes careful, aimed shots as the antagonists spray rounds indiscriminately. In Atomic Blonde, when one bad guy remains, she breaks cover from the couch, takes good aim, and gets a good hit as his rounds zip past her.
At the 0:29 mark, death squad says, “Be a professional and stand on the plastic.” Afterwards that room looks like they failed to bring enough black plastic to catch all the carnage.
If you like strong believable women action movies I highly recommend HAYWIRE (2011) starring former WMMA fighter (7-1) beautiful GINA CARANO. None of the HOLLYWOOD BS super-heroe crap in either ATOMIC BLONDE or HAYWIRE.
I have watched the fight clips of the movie and they are all riveting but this is my favourite...Possibly the colour and luxury of the set...the seductive concealed success of a hidden gun against all final odds...the plans made for her demise by sterile killers in rubber gloves...." stand on the plastic"...the blood on the wall mural...the soundtrack that combines the shouting of the tv with violent climax and then a music finale. This all makes it.
As actors go, how does it get better than Charlize Theron? It doesn’t and the same can be said of her as a person. She has done some wonderful thing for the people of South Africa! An incredible woman!
It never fails. The bad guys always give a highly proficient adversary ample warning they're going to kill him/her. The competent, prepared adversary responds by killing all the bad guys. Just send one bad guy, without making a speech first, to just kill him/her while they're in the grocery store or leaving for work. End of story.
It's a pride thing. Bad Guys want Proficient Adversary to know who is killing them and why, eg. "I want my face to be the last you see before you die". Sort of like what Proficient Adversary did at the end of this clip before she killed the last Bad Guy.
Dr. Evil: Begin the unnecessarily slow-moving dipping mechanism. Dr. Evil: Close the tank! Scott Evil: Wait, aren't you even going to watch them? They could get away! Dr. Evil: No no no, I'm going to leave them alone and not actually witness them dying, I'm just gonna assume it all went to plan. What? Scott Evil: I have a gun, in my room, you give me five seconds, I'll get it, I'll come back down here, BOOM, I'll blow their brains out! Dr. Evil: Scott, you just don't get it, do ya? You don't.
I don't know elsewhere, but in Toronto, Hamilton and I think Montreal, a good number of mob associates including bosses have been shot by a single shooter, in their own driveways or front steps when they come out for the first time that day. No mansions with double driveways and iron gates, just simple homes in the suburbs or a bungalow in older parts of town. It's been like that since I can recall in the sixties. Those are the killings to settle scores within the organization. Pretty sure none of them got a heads up call out of professional courtesy.
The most profound statement in this scene is when she says, "I want my life back". Think of a time or situation when YOU felt the same way. The floor is open...............................NOW!.
Wow, they actually had Vladimir Vysotsky singing in the background in a Hollywood movie. I don't know if it makes me happy/proud or sad that a song of this legend was used for something so mundane like this action movie.

Went to a wedding a couple of years ago and the brides mother was Charlie Theron’s cousin. What a stunner. She was, elegant as well. Putting it politely the mother was hotter than the bride. The wedding incidentally was a big success.
The choreography from this scene gives me a new found admiration for john wick movies, I mean this is good but it's not the same. At 1:16 she's aiming nowhere near the guy's head, there's no shells ejecting from her gun and there's no recoil going down her arm. When she fires at 1:27 it feels like it takes a full second for the bullet to hit. 1:35 the guy gets hit before she fires the gun and the gun doesn't cycle.
Liked the scene. But it follows a predictable pattern. An overt assassination attempt against a professional assassin. Give her plenty of time to react, and surprise, surprise, she turns the tables. Like a thousand times before. Real life: One guy walks behind her on a busy street, unseen, and bullet to the head. But wouldn't make a very satisfying scene.
Kind of like Commando. Every bullet Arnold shot killed someone. Every bullet shot at Arnold missed. You just have to laugh and move on. Can't expect much in terms of intelligence in Hollywood movies these days.

I wish someone would make a cut of this scene that would play out in real time. It would be cool to see how quickly it actually went down and how fast Charlize Theron had to move to make the slowmo work right.
