I will never forget this concert! I was just 13 years old and i thank my dad almost every time i see him, for buying these Metallica tickets! Best concert i have ever been to!
For those complaining, this is a soundboard recording with no mix. Try plugging your guitar into a soundboard and just recording straight, it will sound like this. The Live Shit audio was mastered and mixed properly giving a much clearer sound.
I saw this tour in 1993 in La Crosse, WI. They played for over 3 hours with no opener. It was one of the best shows ever. I was right up front through the whole thing. It still gives me goose bumps thinking about it.
Me acuerdo en mis años de la High School yo me sentía deprimida con el divorcio de mis padres, mi hermana gemela se va de la casa y yo me entero que estaba embarazada. Me ponía a escuchar a Metallica y me sentía mucho mejor . Me conectaba con ellos . Su música me trae muchos recuerdos.
This has been my favourite song for almost 20 years now. I remember reading in Slash's biography how they were opening for Metallica and the band members of Metallica were there for the fans, all responsible and dedicated to the fans while GNR fucked around and drunk themselves stupid every night. After seeing this video, I finally truly believe it somehow. James is struggling, but delivering the most he possibly can.
One of the most universal reasons why it blows to be younger: you miss the best musicians in their prime, and they're all in the past certainly not in the future, so.. :(
***** back of the stage because James voice would screw up often. I also played double bass drums for Lars from the back of stage because he could not keep up. All this is true, almost every metal band has a backup band playing from the back of stage to make everything sound fuller. I used to play drums for Vinnie Paul of Pantera from back of stage as well
I think a cold fuck his voice , see metallica in chile 93 , and if you see metallica in brazil ( 3 days before chile concert ) his voice was good in brazil.
emobox bvb nicely done i have to say emobox bvb, most of people would be like " omg you f**king ***hole you*re such a poser . etc.. Respect is earned not given! :) we need more people like you :)
i ve seen them one year before in the same arena in basel , swizerland , it was my damm greatest concert , and metallica where playing so damm perfect everything was right and my voice was broken for two weeks
Kirk is generally always out of tune and his guitars sound as if they are not intonized properly. Also the way he plays bends the strings slightly out of tune. One of the most overrated lead guitar players ever. Although his rhythm playing is ok. He really is the weak link to Metallica.
+Michael Quindlen sounds like he'd to much of anything the night before. But Kirks guitar sounds like you´d scratch steel over an harp or anything like this. probably he had some trouble with his guitar guy :D:D:D:D:D
People that make this comment are every bit as annoying as the people with the smart phones. If y'all are so tired of smart phones in the crowd then why are y'all reminding everyone about them in 99.9% of youtube comment sections?
New blood joins this Earth And quickly he's subdued Through constant pained disgrace The young boy learns their rules With time the child draws in This whipping boy done wrong Deprived of all his thoughts The young man struggles on and on, he's known Ooh, a vow unto his own That never from this day His will they'll take away What I've felt, what I've known Never shined through in what I've shown Never be, never see Won't see what might have been What I've felt, what I've known Never shined through in what I've shown Never free, never me So I dub thee unforgiven They dedicate their lives To running all of his He tries to please them all This bitter man he is Throughout his life the same He's battled constantly This fight he cannot win A tired man they see no longer cares The old man then prepares To die regretfully That old man here is me What I've felt, what I've known Never shined through in what I've shown Never be, never see Won't see what might have been What I've felt, what I've known Never shined through in what I've shown Never free, never me So I dub thee unforgiven What I've felt, what I've known Never shined through in what I've shown Never be, never see Won't see what might have been What I've felt, what I've known Never shined through in what I've shown Never free, never me So I dub thee unforgiven Oh-ooh-oh Never free, never me So I dub thee unforgiven You labeled me, I'll label you So I dub thee unforgiven Never free, never me So I dub thee unforgiven You labeled me, I'll label you So I dub thee unforgiven Never free, never me So I dub thee unforgiven
I didn't even have to read about it..i FELT the unforgiven deep inside my soul..i just knew he was talking about religion and indoctrination during childhood...... i feel this song on such a deep level because I've been a victim of radical religious brainwash and i all the lyrics are 100% relatable to me............ ❤❤ without fan girl'ing all over the place..cause I'm not really a die hard fan..but can i just say that i love james and ulrich ?.. kirk as well..like i just love them.
@MegumiFF7 He actually lost it in 91 while doing So what, but he kept singing like he used to until he couldnt any more, occasionally he breaks out an old school scream at large concerts but not very often :(
I will never forget this concert! I was just 13 years old and i thank my dad almost every time i see him, for buying these Metallica tickets! Best concert i have ever been to!
As a bassist, love this version. So fun to play.
1:12-1:15 james's dance :D

This tour was the most busy tour of Metallica's history. James made a big voice transition between 92 and 93.
3:50 best part of an awesome music
That rythm guitar riff!
Also the solo but you should try to listen for the riff ;)
he felt every moment of that song.. from the guitar to the drums to the lyrics!! He is a true Metal Legend!! Long live the Hetfield in me!!
Me acuerdo en mis años de la High School yo me sentía deprimida con el divorcio de mis padres, mi hermana gemela se va de la casa y yo me entero que estaba embarazada. Me ponía a escuchar a Metallica y me sentía mucho mejor . Me conectaba con ellos . Su música me trae muchos recuerdos.
This song should be called "Unforgettable", because i always come back to this intro
What I've felt
What I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never be
Never see
Won't see what might have been
This has been my favourite song for almost 20 years now.

No one stay young forever
Fucking amazing! Metallica is awesome live.
*was
It was, around 89 - 93. Nowadays it's a pretty shitty band :/
I can see then you guys never had seen Metallica in live these yeares, you dont know what you are talking about! :D
i saw then on in 2014 it was fucking great.
Mauro Sánchez chaqueño palavecino
Metallica during the 90’s era were something else! This song and guitar solo always give me chills.
I loved them for years now, this one is my favorite
2:35 James says goodbye to his voice... Forever.
Forever and ever
Yeap... He Sayd in Some Kinf Of Monster that he fucked his voice in Black Album
***** I used to sing for metallica from the back

Grimeyhoob is that true? lol
James was sick at this concert, you can clearly hear him singing through his nose, probably a cold.
I think a cold fuck his voice , see metallica in chile 93 , and if you see metallica in brazil ( 3 days before chile concert ) his voice was good in brazil.
Probably just has a shot voice and is tired
He was sick and worn out, not a shit voice
James fucked his voice on Black Album Tour. He said that lost his voice recorded So What. (Sorry for my bad english)
He's sick every concert lol, every live video a watch of them I see comments like this " oh his was sick at this concert "
i was there at this Concert in my home country.
Many Years Ago - Unforgetable
Back when music was music. Metallica, nirvana, pearl jam, and many, many more. The 90s man
Eh, I'd scratch Nirvana off that list in my opinion. I think they're really overrated, but that's my opinion.
And I respect your opinion bro.
emobox bvb nicely done i have to say emobox bvb, most of people would be like " omg you f**king ***hole you*re such a poser . etc.. Respect is earned not given! :) we need more people like you :)
And I should say the same about you. :)
Guns N Roses man
i Love metallica ❤❤❤
MtALLICA FOR LIFE
+Dami yeas
Dami yes this is the best band in the world for me🤘
we know james xd
ช่างยะหรือจะสุ้ช่างต่อได้ไงต่อเหนือยุแล้ว
best solo ever !! soo melodic..
Wow, he had that thing on his hand for a long time. He was burned in August of 1992, this is 1993. That's crazy.
Beholder505 What do you mean? What second of the video?
Tomás Valladares 0:12 check out his fret hand, you can see a skin colored fingerless glove. He wore it after he got burned.
Beholder505 why did he got his hand burned
Montreal 1992 he stood on an explosive prop during fade to black giving him serve burns
+Louis Greenleaf Was that in Metallica and GNR´s Concert?
i dont know why but this show is my all time favorit it has a good setlist and the vibe on stage and crowd is amazing
Their visuals look so good in these shows. That looked of seasoned veterans.
Kirk killed that solo. I love it.
That white Tama kit.
The Performance of another world!
i ve seen them one year before in the same arena in basel , swizerland , it was my damm greatest concert , and metallica where playing so damm perfect
everything was right and my voice was broken for two weeks
3:50
ArcGIS Tunisie when the crack finally hits you
The best version of The Unforgiven!
2:21 Jasooooonnnn
In every live video before 2000 you can see "back when there were no smartphones in the crowd" in the comments section
tudo maravilhoso ,linda música, solo lindo ,amo tudo isso
One of my favorite rock songs.
very nice show scars and all. working through the pain to do what they love. ROCK THE FUCK ON!!
My day just become better !My respect to Metallica!
Man, that outro solo is incredible!
best Lars concerts:
All the concerts w/cliff
Seattle 1989
San Diego 1992
Basel 1993
Cunning stuns
Quebec Magnetic 2009
Magic Martinez don't forget about Nimes 2009 and Mexico City 2009 (or 08) can't remember.
You mean 1983-1995 right... And then 2008-2010. And 2015-
Saying all concerts with Cliff is a stretch. He was such a beginner in the Kill em all days.
Magic Martinez also Monster of Rock Moscow '91
Magic Martinez 2013 In Indonesia
Definitely sick here because their are some 93 shows and even 94 shows Hetfield sounds much stronger.
Excellent perfomance! Jason Newsted is a great musician and singer! Thanks Metallica for this anthem👏👏👏
Soundboard audio. That's why you can't hear the crowd.
dat snare
i miss that drums sound
Ryan O'Toole yea that is the best drum ive heard from metallica, especialy in seattle 89
In my opinion there is the best drum kit in Lars Urlich history :)
Them toms at 5:49. That kit was fucking perfect...
Metallica is the best! i just cant stop watching this
the best inforgiven hear shoud ever hear at day !!!!
Great song and a great performance. Thanks for posting.
Guitar sounded out of tune in beginning! But amazing!!!
they are out of tune, well kirk's is at least
Kirk is generally always out of tune and his guitars sound as if they are not intonized properly. Also the way he plays bends the strings slightly out of tune. One of the most overrated lead guitar players ever. Although his rhythm playing is ok. He really is the weak link to Metallica.
i dont think hes over rated, im not sure if i met anyone who thinks he is great...
i think kirk tunes his guitars in 444hz
That line that pitch .. james and excellent performance troupe
3:50 He saw mustaine
Hahahaha
Amazing lol.
😂😂😂
That bass sounds badass
1983-1993..r.i.p
I was 17 in the first row 😂🔥 best concert, even I saw them 5 more times. In the 90tees in Basel 🥰
I use Metallica while studying! full concentration!
i was there 1993. amazing metalica
Who’s listenig this fuckin version on 2020 ?? UP FROM BRAZIL 🇧🇷
Damn, James' voice is shot here.
+Michael Quindlen sounds like he'd to much of anything the night before. But Kirks guitar sounds like you´d scratch steel over an harp or anything like this. probably he had some trouble with his guitar guy :D:D:D:D:D
+Michael Quindlen youre a fucking idiot!
He is the unforgiven!
Jack Rockwell this is one of my favorite performances to watch
Jack Rockwell this was after James lost his voice. It was still working until mid 1992.
anyone can say what they want about lars... he kicks ass on this song.
I think it's the best song in all three unforgivens
When there were no smartphones in the crowd
David López yass, that generation's the best. Today's generation fucking sucks.
Because nobody totally took pictures at these concerts

@@angrymoomin18 ok millennial
i have this on my ipod i listen to it at least 10 times a day
Para mi he estado en 3 conciertos de ellos y esta es la mejor version de Unforgiven en la historia!!!
Escucha el live en San Diego del 92, ese es el mejor
Hatfield is indeed the ROCK GOD !
UNBEATABLE !!!
1:10 either he teleported himself or he transformed in to michael jordan and jumped over the crowd
The acoustic was on the same stage as him when he starts singing. But it does have that illusion that it's on stage across
+Robin Åberg `its what james can do...
***** well that was uncalled for... why don't you cuddle down with your little pony pillows and listen to justin bieber?
Lol edit error
my favorite performance of this song
I love this version!!!
Metallica Good Performance of the song called The unforgiving performed live in Basel Switzerland 🇨🇭 On June 20th 1993.
My god you just made me feel old...
Suena este buen tema y automaticamente mis recuerdos me llevan a mi adolescencia!!!! Que temazo....!!!!! Que tiempos, X DIOS!!!!!!
1:38 bass boom!!!💣💥
Still the best! Haunting riffs. I'm consumed.
2:38 xD
Se le salió un gallo al James :v
yisus no es un gallo es que en el 93 le dio gripe porcina:v
No mames yisus, luego porqué te crucifican :vvv
jajaja este yisus ke no deberias estar salvando vidas ? :v
lars is the most honest dummer I ve ever seen. Love him for that... he seems to be a good person
a good person that took jason’s bass lines out of justice out of pure greed
@@ali965 it's their fault that lars and James, hated Jason's bass playing
Still the best live performance ever
me encanta este video..
New blood joins this Earth
And quickly he's subdued
Through constant pained disgrace
The young boy learns their rules
With time the child draws in
This whipping boy done wrong
Deprived of all his thoughts
The young man struggles on and on, he's known
Ooh, a vow unto his own
That never from this day
His will they'll take away
What I've felt, what I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never be, never see
Won't see what might have been
What I've felt, what I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never free, never me
So I dub thee unforgiven
They dedicate their lives
To running all of his
He tries to please them all
This bitter man he is
Throughout his life the same
He's battled constantly
This fight he cannot win
A tired man they see no longer cares
The old man then prepares
To die regretfully
That old man here is me
What I've felt, what I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never be, never see
Won't see what might have been
What I've felt, what I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never free, never me
So I dub thee unforgiven
What I've felt, what I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never be, never see
Won't see what might have been
What I've felt, what I've known
Never shined through in what I've shown
Never free, never me
So I dub thee unforgiven
Oh-ooh-oh
Never free, never me
So I dub thee unforgiven
You labeled me, I'll label you
So I dub thee unforgiven
Never free, never me
So I dub thee unforgiven
You labeled me, I'll label you
So I dub thee unforgiven
Never free, never me
So I dub thee unforgiven
Tune that guitar Kirk!
tell that to the guitar tech
It’s done on purpose to stay out of james guitar sound.
One of my fav songs from all and fade to black-
Best Band Of All Time
I had no idea Jason Newsted cut all of his hair off long before the rest of the band!
he had an accident (I think his hair got burnt) so he had to cut them short
drpapatsakalos I remember hearing something about him loosing his hair in a bet ?
no as far as I know Jason cut his hair short due to a fire accident (sort of james' one).
Kirk lost a car to a bet
I got the damaged justice last week cant wait to wear it at school
Respect Metallica never die my life
este hetfield de la era precambrica es de mis preferidos...con papa hetfield 2006
Man that snare is absolutely brutal on the ears
Best Band I ever seen

lars was loud and heavy back then, now he uses some pieces of tins
metallica: the best in the world
I agree, his singing in Prague was fantastic!
