People forget that even in Initial D, Takumi AE86 already got an engine tuning to give it 26 more HP than with stock tuning (from 124 to 150 HP). (Spoiler : It's this tuning and the stock engine being in end of life that made it blow at the beginning of Stage 2) It was then changed for a Group A Rally Toyota engine that boosted it to 240HP. After that, the only performance modification the car receive is the hood and headlight being replaced by carbon fiber to lighten the car. So yes, it's not just that car is shit, it's that Initial D actually use different specs from stock, and usually games use the stock specs.

People forget that even in Initial D, Takumi AE86 already got an engine tuning to give it 26 more HP than with stock tuning (from 124 to 150 HP).
(Spoiler : It's this tuning and the stock engine being in end of life that made it blow at the beginning of Stage 2)
It was then changed for a Group A Rally Toyota engine that boosted it to 240HP. After that, the only performance modification the car receive is the hood and headlight being replaced by carbon fiber to lighten the car.
So yes, it's not just that car is shit, it's that Initial D actually use different specs from stock, and usually games use the stock specs.

Me: gave some highschool Door Dash driver guy in a AE86 a 5 Star rating once for delivery my Tofu way before i expect to get it.
I gave mine a 3 star review. He was driving an AE85 and was extremely late. The tofu was all broken up, and to top it all off he kept going on and on about these cars I’ve never heard of. Dude I just want my tofu man!! I’m more of a if it has four wheels and it runs, it's a car kind of guy!
