The best feature on a merc has to be the intelligent light system . On long cruising of 6 hours or more it simply makes everything so relaxing . Last week I rented a Mercedes Vito van and had to keep paying attention to oncoming vehicles so thus found out just how relaxing my w204 estate really is .

I don't know if there are different versions of the ILS system, but in my 2012 car you can go into the settings an activate/deactivate the automatic hi beam function. When the function is activated and you push the stalk forward for hi beam the system does a pretty good job adjusting to other cars in front of you. What made me turn off the function is that it doesn't turn on the hi beam if you go under 50km/h, which is not very nice when going down small twisty country/forest roads in the dark.
Sport mode doesn't stiffen up the suspension or lower the car, all it does is makes the throttle more responsive and changes gear at higher revs, it also makes the car set off in 1st rather than 2nd which comfort mode makes the gearbox do. Also Engineer mode, please dont change settings unless you know what you are doing, doing so will cause problems
you just maybe be correct about the suspension.... when I got the car I believe the person who told me was misinformed.. so thank u for clarifying that ..and good call on the engineering mode ... thank for sharing your comment ... much appreciated... it most definitely helps others
It's actually optional. In My C300 with AMG sport package, for example, the suspensions have sensor plugs on them which if broken, will leave my car always in sport mode. In addition, the "sport" mode button in my car is located next to the PDC button instead of the transmission lever. In STAR diagnostic tool the feature is listed as Adaptive Damping System. however, I do not think it lowers the car, just stiffen the suspensions up
Great videos! I learned a lot about my new (to me) W204, but I wanted you to know that my C300 Luxury has the “Comfort/Sport” switch located near the gearshift lever as shown in your video but it is not the AMG model. Keep ‘em coming Mikey!
@@sambethune it does not control the suspension, it's the transmission shifting mode. Comfort shifts earlier for a smoother experience, sport shifts later and downshifts earlier, and manual is self explanatory.
u need the cdnor the software on a sd card with only the update file... I've seen the cd coat anywhere from 300 to 500 dollars ebay and dealership.. I would never goto a dealership cuz itll cost way too much ..try ebay for copies ..u just need the newer version maps and its easy to install it there will be step by step prompts
As you actually said the actually was annoying but at least you didn't say "like" all the time. Other than that it was a good video and very helpful. I have a 2014 W204 C250 CDI Coupe and every time I get in I have to go through a sequence of... hand bake off...ECO off...gearshift into sport....suspension into sport....sunroof open. I wish I could preset that.
ye my apologies for that actually....lol... i know what u mean i wish there was a preset for all that too .... dunno why mercedes didnt just allow that preset huh?
@@MIKEYZVLOGZ as soon as any of those peripheral systems would stop working... it would be a warranty claim ! I disabled the sick feature that moves the steering wheel up/down when you get in the car as it was still CLUNKING badly after 5KMiles and dealer had applied grease per TSB. 😆

@@MIKEYZVLOGZ hum... what my post above was saying is that Benz builds those types of "comfort peripherals" to be as weak as possible to bring you in for service. My example about the W212 steering moving up&down for easy entry/exist: I noticed it was clunking up and clunking down... so I Googled forums and figured the mechanism was built with plastic gears. I then found a TSB Campaign that exactly matched that issue for my car (alldatadiy dot com) - Dealer applied the fix with no result. I realized having a good steering wheel was not an option, so I simply disabled that convenience feature before the steering became wobbly. 🧐

no but will be doing shorts on every feature shortly.. so ppl don't have to watch the entire video to learn one new thing..but basically u press unlock and hold it til ur window is down to desired position.. and press lock and hold for window to close .. some ppl say u don't have to point at the door handle infared tab but I do
Ok so u press the Windscreen washer x2 twice and u should see the headlight washers shoot water at your headlights ..that simple bud. Hope this helps ...I tried x5 ..until I figured it out
Great assistance! Keep it coming. Appreciate If u could give some idea on how to mend the glove box on my W204 which would not hold on to the body. I notice that the bracket or damping unit is no more attached to the box. Sometimes it would just drop off.
Was it hard to install the back up camera i read somewhere for the 20102..2013 models it’s a lot more work .. and do. I have to go in the back of my radio to install anything for the mirror link ..
yes unfortunately for the mirrorlink feature it is alot more work then you think...you have to install a video interface module like i showed you in the video, which involves taking the factory stereo out and connecting it via a fakra cable...but if you can get to the back of your unit then its not so bad...theres actually quite alot of room back there.... and for the 2012 models, its abit different but still all doable..all it takes is abit of patience and some effort..anything can be done with patience,,,trust me i learnt this first hand
I simply just hit the little green switch to off every time I start up .. I don’t feel it’s worth paying to change a setting I can do for free with a single touch .
Today while I was walking with my friend (we both have 08 C-Classes) to her car, I noticed that her lights (front and rear) automatically turned on when she unlocked her car with her smartkey. Is there a way to do this? Or is it part of a package?
yes its part of the options in the instrument cluster its the option under lighting and u choose the option todo with surround lighting delayed, that means the lights stay on for a sec and turn off later
@@MIKEYZVLOGZ where the gear shift is just c & s but it does not have the flappy paddles. When in S mode it also gears dwn when breaking bit more than in in C mode

I have a c300 2010 , i have buyed in canada misisagua. And i have a problem when a start the car the headlight’s are always on. Xenon and bixenon are always on in every position. And in stings menu dosent have any option for lights. Can anybody help me?
That is because in Canada your car is required lights running during the daytime. Unless your car is from America, there’s no way to disable them coming on
yes i think your right, after alot of confusion from what the dealers day and others say, just like me ppl are getting confused with agility package and sports mode frofor transmission , i am now lead to believe that sports mode basically shifts gears quicker and thats about it

I have a 2010 c350 have the almost the same Nav. You see that button on the black cover. Usually you press it the Nav cover open but it don't. The volume round button. Do you have any idea ? what cause it.
just thinking about it ... it must be related to the button ...so how do u open? do u have to press another button on the unit? like radio etc? if it's just the button u need to check where it's connected it could be loose or broken... trace the button to where its connected and u can try trial and error.. that's what I would do .. but no I really don't know what that is and why
One thing that annoys me is, why is it that any one from inside can unlock the doors by just opening them, can that be disabled, so driver can only unlock the doors from inside
yes that is a good one but I'm sure there is a way .. well for 4 doors u have child lock so back door can't open unless done so from outside . as for front doors I'm not too sure..I don't think u can ...
I learned a few new tricks from this video, so well done Mike. Also i would like to ask about the HOLD & ECO functions. They used to work when i bought the car but for the past 5 months or so they don't . Do you perhaps know why is that ?
honestly i cant say that i do ... just to refresh my memory how do they usually work on your car ??? or how did they use to work ? ill do some research and see if i can help you out... sometimes its a matter of resyncing to re teach your car how to do it..but that usually only applies to folding mirrors and seats etc... your case seems abit different ... let me get back to you
@@MIKEYZVLOGZ Hi, the HOLD function is when you stop the car you press the brake pedal harder and on the dash pops the work HOLD. You can now let go of the brake pedal and the car will not move until you press the petrol pedal to pull away. And you don't have to go into Neutral or Park you stay in Drive. The ECO is to switch off the engine when you stop on a robot and as soon as you let go of the brake it starts the engine and you can pull away.

so do u need help setting the height and how far your steering wheel sits in ur car ?... if you look underneath your steering wheel you should have either a electronic knob that will allow you to adjust your steering wheel or if you don't have an electronic steering wheel adjuster it will be done via a lever that you can pull down on or pull up on..my car has electronic adjustment and it allows me to tilt and move back and forward friend
Great video.sorry I did not encounter this before. I have the same model car.My front passenger door lock does not respond to the remote. However,using the said door lock manually, it controls the opening and closing of all the other doors except its own.What can be the issue here. hoping that u can assist.
my car is 2010 and always had paddle shifters so i never had to worry about trying to get them to work ...apparently its about activating them but im not sure how you would do that exactly

No i havent but if u can get the map cd u can update them easily its a cd ....simple.insert and let it load ..or might have to just copy onto hard drive

@@HearGear yes u can do it .. its basically the same as the video I did for reverse camera install for w204 just different way to remove screen but basically ally same connectors and adapters

Can you actually reset TCU on your vehicle & post a tutorial video of it? Planning on doing it by myself on my W204 amg, I think it’d be quite helpful.
sure I can do that .... theres also direct instructions on it aswell u can find on some forums but if your really having trouble I will try and do that for you
i didnt i had them from factory cuz i had the sports amg package fitted with my car from the person i got it from.. but i have heard some ppl installing a wheel with paddles and it did work, but some had no luck, depends on the steering wheel i think , so many forums about this
i feel ya , but i do love the car,,, some ppl are really lucky never to exoperince any of these headaches , but some get them all, like anything u have the good and the bad.. but yes some merc are really bad,,, thats why i think my next car is a lexus is350, i got he 2011 and never ever had an issue evr so reliable its not funny, ill be doing a video comparing the 3 cars as they costed the same wen i bought them
its not blue thats just the angle of the screen and the lighting from camera my screen is still as beige and black as it came no difference buddy... cameras are an amazing thing iso and white balance and colour correction ... although set to auto thats how it appears on video bud ..so don't misunderstand for colour settings its just the reflection of screen
i mean accelerator as we are talking about resetting the throttle response...thanks for letting me know that..i will be doing a video with more detail om just how to reset the throttle response/ control module

Ye they went with the inbuilt screen for the newer version 2011 on wards to 2014 or 2015 i believe ... dunno why but they did ...08 to 10 have this flip up screen ... but only certain models with specific systems..i guess it was what was chosen during factory building.... mine is factory no uograde...

@@daw1styou push a turn signal switch to a dashboard direction(forward) and that is your high beam ( blu light came up on a dashboard)! What you see light came when you turning that is cornel light! Check head light sure ignition is on or engine run!

most w204 should have but I have heard that some do not have the option .... do u have the button where u can fold the windows in by pressing the centre button between selecting g left and right mirrors
Hi Mikeyz! W204 C200 2011 here. Just a question when shifting to manual mode. when I downshift the gear it always back to 1st gear. For instance, when I was in 4th gear (D4), I downshift once and it would go back to 1st gear( D1) instead of 3rd gear. Every time I downshift it would go to D1. Is this normal or there is a problem with my car? Is yours like this? Thxx for the help!
it should not be doing that.. wen u downgear it should goto the next gear ...not the lowest gear... there must be something wrong with the sensor either gearshift sensor or the gearbox sensor... my car doesnt act like that.. it shifts up and down as it should .... should only go lowest gear wen u hold down ..amd back to D wen u hold forward or up .... theres definitely something going on

Your car doesn’t have the adaptive dampers, thats available with the cars that have the sports mode next to where the heated seats are my mates has it, clicking it on the gearbox doesn’t do what you said only holds onto the gears longer and even with the option its the first I’ve heard it lowers i can upload a pic of my mates for reference or video

Hi, what do you see in your History settings when you enter Engineering mode? What does the Circuit check do, exactly? I'll be buying a W204 in next few months and if I can diagnose the car on the spot using this, it would be very handy!
im not too sure friend what circuit check means ... are u asking if u can diagnose using that functiom or emgineering mode ? best would be to get an obd scanner for mercedes benz cars

Wonder how many of these features function on my 2010 w204? I've seen some of them on other videos, but you also had allot of new things. I have Premium 1 + Multimedia Packages, sadly no keyless-go :0(
"Keyless Go" feature is a module attached to rear SAM but main Ignition lock may need to be made compatible... These cars are fun to tinker with if you have CAN tools and the time.
hi there friend and welcome to the channel...im sorry to hear ur havving problems... heres what i think and bare with me on this ... so you can crank the engine it turns over but it wont start?? usually this would be a case of a bad crankshaft position sensor(classic symptom) ..,,however the best thing to do would be to get the car scanned by a good quality obd2 scanner tool that can read a majority of the codes on the car.. a Mercedes specific scanner tool would work even better as it would be able to communicate with the ecu and grab alot more info compared to generic obd2 scanner tools...however most scanners will work just depends on what the problem is...start with a scan so u can narrow down your issue...do not just throw money at the car hoping to fix the problem,,that is a big no no ..regardless if someone tries to tell u what the symptoms match according to what u tell them..the only way to be sure is to have a qualified merc technician use a merc specific scanner tool and pinpoint the problem then u can start trouble shooting and u will find out what parts u need exactly and go from there
I didnt touch any electrical cable or any fuse. I just simply reset the Tcu and went to the system. Perhaps i changed some setting without noticing. After that engine wont start
@@MrGhoora hmmm...doing a tcu reset would not affect car starting in anyway at all...i myself have done it many times before on several cars..i believe it may be a case of bad luck and your crank shaft position sensor may have just given out ... but pls do not take my word for it,...i am just trying to give u some insight dear friend
@@tommymissory3376 thats ok so we are talking about next to your gear stick? if so it does mean sport and comfort modes different driving styles ... sports mode holds gears longer changing at higher revs comfort conserves abit more fuel and is your day to day drive unless u prefer sports all day long.... which some do.... lol... it doesnt show on my cluster either apart from switching to the letters however im.not sure what would display on your car as i havent seen it for myself..but it should be similar

Sport mode doesn't stiffen up the suspension or lower the car, all it does is makes the throttle more responsive and changes gear at higher revs, it also makes the car set off in 1st rather than 2nd which comfort mode makes the gearbox do. Also Engineer mode, please dont change settings unless you know what you are doing, doing so will cause problems
you just maybe be correct about the suspension.... when I got the car I believe the person who told me was misinformed.. so thank u for clarifying that ..and good call on the engineering mode ... thank for sharing your comment ... much appreciated... it most definitely helps others
It's actually optional. In My C300 with AMG sport package, for example, the suspensions have sensor plugs on them which if broken, will leave my car always in sport mode. In addition, the "sport" mode button in my car is located next to the PDC button instead of the transmission lever. In STAR diagnostic tool the feature is listed as Adaptive Damping System. however, I do not think it lowers the car, just stiffen the suspensions up

That's not comfort/sport. All it does is change whether the car starts off in 1st gear (for good weather) or 2nd gear in snowy winter conditions.

@@sambethune it does not control the suspension, it's the transmission shifting mode. Comfort shifts earlier for a smoother experience, sport shifts later and downshifts earlier, and manual is self explanatory.

I wish I could preset that.

I disabled the sick feature that moves the steering wheel up/down when you get in the car as it was still CLUNKING badly after 5KMiles and dealer had applied grease per TSB.

My example about the W212 steering moving up&down for easy entry/exist: I noticed it was clunking up and clunking down... so I Googled forums and figured the mechanism was built with plastic gears. I then found a TSB Campaign that exactly matched that issue for my car (alldatadiy dot com) - Dealer applied the fix with no result.
I realized having a good steering wheel was not an option, so I simply disabled that convenience feature before the steering became wobbly.

Ok so u press the Windscreen washer x2 twice and u should see the headlight washers shoot water at your headlights ..that simple bud. Hope this helps ...I tried x5 ..until I figured it out

Was it hard to install the back up camera i read somewhere for the 20102..2013 models it’s a lot more work .. and do. I have to go in the back of my radio to install anything for the mirror link ..
yes unfortunately for the mirrorlink feature it is alot more work then you think...you have to install a video interface module like i showed you in the video, which involves taking the factory stereo out and connecting it via a fakra cable...but if you can get to the back of your unit then its not so bad...theres actually quite alot of room back there.... and for the 2012 models, its abit different but still all doable..all it takes is abit of patience and some effort..anything can be done with patience,,,trust me i learnt this first hand

yes its part of the options in the instrument cluster its the option under lighting and u choose the option todo with surround lighting delayed, that means the lights stay on for a sec and turn off later

I have a c300 2010 , i have buyed in canada misisagua. And i have a problem when a start the car the headlight’s are always on. Xenon and bixenon are always on in every position. And in stings menu dosent have any option for lights. Can anybody help me?
That is because in Canada your car is required lights running during the daytime. Unless your car is from America, there’s no way to disable them coming on

just thinking about it ... it must be related to the button ...so how do u open? do u have to press another button on the unit? like radio etc? if it's just the button u need to check where it's connected it could be loose or broken... trace the button to where its connected and u can try trial and error.. that's what I would do .. but no I really don't know what that is and why

honestly i cant say that i do ... just to refresh my memory how do they usually work on your car ??? or how did they use to work ? ill do some research and see if i can help you out... sometimes its a matter of resyncing to re teach your car how to do it..but that usually only applies to folding mirrors and seats etc... your case seems abit different ... let me get back to you
@@MIKEYZVLOGZ Hi, the HOLD function is when you stop the car you press the brake pedal harder and on the dash pops the work HOLD. You can now let go of the brake pedal and the car will not move until you press the petrol pedal to pull away. And you don't have to go into Neutral or Park you stay in Drive.
The ECO is to switch off the engine when you stop on a robot and as soon as you let go of the brake it starts the engine and you can pull away.

so do u need help setting the height and how far your steering wheel sits in ur car ?... if you look underneath your steering wheel you should have either a electronic knob that will allow you to adjust your steering wheel or if you don't have an electronic steering wheel adjuster it will be done via a lever that you can pull down on or pull up on..my car has electronic adjustment and it allows me to tilt and move back and forward friend

yes ..5 inch is the screen that is in the dash right ? not the flip up?

I think this procedure actually reset the TRANSMISSION ADAPTATIONS not the throttle sensor module.

its not blue thats just the angle of the screen and the lighting from camera my screen is still as beige and black as it came no difference buddy... cameras are an amazing thing iso and white balance and colour correction ... although set to auto thats how it appears on video bud ..so don't misunderstand for colour settings its just the reflection of screen

Mike. Did you upgrade your infotainment system/screen? My w204 C350 2014 has the smaller built in screen.
Ye they went with the inbuilt screen for the newer version 2011 on wards to 2014 or 2015 i believe ... dunno why but they did ...08 to 10 have this flip up screen ... but only certain models with specific systems..i guess it was what was chosen during factory building.... mine is factory no uograde...
The built in screen is so much better than the flip out one IMO.

@@daw1styou push a turn signal switch to a dashboard direction(forward) and that is your high beam ( blu light came up on a dashboard)! What you see light came when you turning that is cornel light! Check head light sure ignition is on or engine run!

Hi Mikeyz! W204 C200 2011 here. Just a question when shifting to manual mode. when I downshift the gear it always back to 1st gear. For instance, when I was in 4th gear (D4), I downshift once and it would go back to 1st gear( D1) instead of 3rd gear. Every time I downshift it would go to D1. Is this normal or there is a problem with my car? Is yours like this? Thxx for the help!
it should not be doing that.. wen u downgear it should goto the next gear ...not the lowest gear...
there must be something wrong with the sensor either gearshift sensor or the gearbox sensor... my car doesnt act like that.. it shifts up and down as it should .... should only go lowest gear wen u hold down ..amd back to D wen u hold forward or up .... theres definitely something going on

Your car doesn’t have the adaptive dampers, thats available with the cars that have the sports mode next to where the heated seats are my mates has it, clicking it on the gearbox doesn’t do what you said only holds onto the gears longer and even with the option its the first I’ve heard it lowers i can upload a pic of my mates for reference or video

"Keyless Go" feature is a module attached to rear SAM but main Ignition lock may need to be made compatible...
These cars are fun to tinker with if you have CAN tools and the time.
Hi. My Mercedes c180 Kompressor w204 2011 wont start after the TCU reset. Engine would crank and stop. Can you help. Thank you
hi there friend and welcome to the channel...im sorry to hear ur havving problems... heres what i think and bare with me on this ... so you can crank the engine it turns over but it wont start?? usually this would be a case of a bad crankshaft position sensor(classic symptom) ..,,however the best thing to do would be to get the car scanned by a good quality obd2 scanner tool that can read a majority of the codes on the car.. a Mercedes specific scanner tool would work even better as it would be able to communicate with the ecu and grab alot more info compared to generic obd2 scanner tools...however most scanners will work just depends on what the problem is...start with a scan so u can narrow down your issue...do not just throw money at the car hoping to fix the problem,,that is a big no no ..regardless if someone tries to tell u what the symptoms match according to what u tell them..the only way to be sure is to have a qualified merc technician use a merc specific scanner tool and pinpoint the problem then u can start trouble shooting and u will find out what parts u need exactly and go from there
I didnt touch any electrical cable or any fuse. I just simply reset the Tcu and went to the system. Perhaps i changed some setting without noticing. After that engine wont start
@@MrGhoora hmmm...doing a tcu reset would not affect car starting in anyway at all...i myself have done it many times before on several cars..i believe it may be a case of bad luck and your crank shaft position sensor may have just given out ... but pls do not take my word for it,...i am just trying to give u some insight dear friend

if ur talkimg about the button next to the scroll knob its clear .... if its the one next to the gear shifter its for comfort/cruise

@@tommymissory3376 thats ok so we are talking about next to your gear stick? if so it does mean sport and comfort modes different driving styles ... sports mode holds gears longer changing at higher revs comfort conserves abit more fuel and is your day to day drive unless u prefer sports all day long.... which some do.... lol... it doesnt show on my cluster either apart from switching to the letters however im.not sure what would display on your car as i havent seen it for myself..but it should be similar

hey buddy welcome to the channel ... so basically you just depress your brake all the way down and if your car senses your on an incline it will hold ur position til u accelerate.... try it but make sure no one is behind u so u dont roll back and hit someone lol.... we dont want that dear friend ... and yes we should all cruise together that would.be amazing
