Aw man! This one looked so promising! Hopefully the developer can clean up the bugs. I love the aesthetic so much that I might give it a play anyway. On an unrelated note, have you heard of Arthurian Legends? It's yet another tongue-in-cheek throwback shooter (but with an emphasis on melee combat) and I've seen surprisingly little coverage for it. Might be worth a look!
That art style is awesome but the audio definitely needs to be sorted. Immersive sound design can really take a game to a different level. Great video though man look forward to seeing where this one goes!
Looks great, like the perfect inbetween of "hipster" and "cool" and looking at it gave me chills. Too bad PowerSlave Exhumed (a remastered port of the Saturn version of PowerSlave) is out, meaning I'm gonna spend my money there rather than here.
I love throw back FPS games and your channel is my new place to stop to check up on the genre. I love your videos and the extensive takes you give on the games.
Thanks for the review Kirk! There is so much to play this month that I'm giving this one a skip. Seems pretty undercooked, but I hope they polish it to the point of being worth a buy in the future.
I'd been looking forward to this one since the demo, but it looks like it needed a little more dev time, at least it sounds like the performance issues the demo had have been fixed since thye weren't mentioned in the review. I'll probably give it a while to see if the dev patches some of the bugs/sound issues before I buy it.
Man, that audio design is so weak... Such a shame, the visuals look amazing. By the way, Kirk, are you planning to do a review of the recently launched Powerslave remaster? I've been playing it for the first time and man, it's GOOD.
Have to agree, this game was a let down. The movement is very floaty, especially the jump. No autorun option, even though there is no reason not to be running most of the time. Guns are underwhelming. And yes, bugs. That shotgunner in the wall was there for me too.
Maybe I'll get this later during a sale. More interested in the Powerslave Remaster that dropped onto Steam and consoles today. Never owned Powerslave on PS1 nor did I ever own a Sega Saturn, hope it gets a physical copy too. Have you played CrossfireX? Is the campaign any good?
Downloading Powerslave as we speak, I found a copy for my PS1 a few years back and got obsessed with it. Really excited for the remaster. I have not played CrossfireX yet but I'm definitely curious about it.
@KIRK COLLECTS, Nice. I'd like to get a complete PS1 copy. But that's priced out of my range now. The remaster is good, but I'm gonna wait a bit to see if it gets a physical copy. Same for that Sifu game. I'm only interested in the campaign for CrossfireX, multiplayer is free to play and their already pushing the usual microtransactions baloney. The campaign was done by Remedy, but I'm hearing mixed things about it. It is on Game Pass, but I don't have that either lol. The Steam game I'm interested in for February is SCP: Pandemic. It's going to release later this month in EA. Looks like a fun M rated co op FPS.
I was interested in CrossfireX. But, multiplayer is full of greed baloney. And the campaign is apparently a bad CoD knockoff. Better off playing that free Modern Warfare mod campaign, Rooftops 2. Was really hoping the campaign would be a great modern take on a classic CoD campaign. But, nope.
Was gifted this for my birthday and sadly all of your points hit home. Thankfully I didn't pay for this, but it is a bit of a letdown. Hope the devs fix the bugs and patch the game pretty soon.
I don't really understand how the music fits... The visual style is hand-drawing, the music style is lo-fi electronic ? Sounds rather incoherent. If it's the soundtrack playing in the background of this video, I'm not into it, it feels like it'd just undermine the atmosphere.

I agree arthurian legends slaps
Babe wake up, Kirk posted a new video
😂

Thanks for the review! I'll hold off on purchasing for now, but the soundtrack is so good!!

So excited to play that, Powerslave is a gem.

Me too, there’s good stuff here it just needed more dev time.

I agree with the other comment that you should check Arthurian Legends. It stands out in so many ways, yet no one seems to cover it.
One of my most anticipated!
I hope the dev listens to your spot-on feedback (no, you aren't a stickler). I want to play it, yet not in this state.

As much I liked the art style , the visuals gave me a bad headache so this is a pass for me . Good job on the video Kirk .
Good review!!
Thank you!

It seems a title I *want* to like but won't.. yet. I hope they polish this one up a bit :).
Most, if not all points you made were fair.
Would love to get your opinion on Arthurian Legends. I liked the demo but it seemed kinda unpolished.
Didn't expect that conclusion, I guess visuals don't do everything. I thought the demo was decent anyway
Im a simple man, I see a Kirk review, I go into a feral fugue state and immediately purchase the game
But you don't remove your trousers?
Could you review Crossfire X?

The developers answered: "What would happen if the sword of omens was Mum-ra?"
The artwork looked amazing for this game, unfortunately I'll have to pass.

i hate hand drwn fps.
