Anxiety for me meant a lot of time spent thinking about worst-case scenarios. My therapist told me to spend at least an equal or greater amount of time thinking about and visualising the best-case scenarios. It's a small thing but I found it really useful in easing my anxiety and actually cultivating a more realistic view of things. Hope that's helpful for someone 🙂

@@jacalyntaylor6721 You're welcome. It's a really easy way of thinking to fall into, especially when you struggle with anxiety so don't beat yourself up about it! Building the self belief that you can handle anything is really useful with this as well. When you trust yourself to deal with whatever comes your way, you don't have to think through every worst case scenario and be hung up on the fear that brings, because you know whatever happens you'll be okay. That's definitely a mindset that can be cultivated. Good luck with your growth:)

It's so important that we take care of our own needs without sacrificing our well-being to satisfy and please others. When you can, take breaks if need to, meditate, take a walk and be kind to yourself for the practice of self-care. Do whatever makes you feel that inner peace and calmness that's needed for your mental health and overall well-being.

I went from a doctor only training in emergency specialities, some of the most demanding possible, to severe anxiety and acrophobia which his caused me to be house bound for almost 10 years. As it stands I cannot get control over my life. When you discuss causes of anxiety there are far deeper deeper levels than you mentioned. Especially when you have been through years old trauma and childhood trauma.

Paper Tiger Syndrome: Paper tigers are the thoughts and experiences that conjure up dread, but that don’t present any real danger. Missed deadlines, traffic jams, conflict with a loved one, and arguments with the boss create the same physiological responses in the human body that our ancestors experienced when they were stalked by predators on the plains.
In the modern world, however, those responses are unwarranted. They’re neurological “misfires” that wreak havoc on our mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing, all in an effort to keep us “safe.”

Thank you Lewis this is so helpful! I love listening to your videos when I'm editing my RUclips videos. It calms me. I've struggled with anxiety my entire life! At 44 that was not something we talked about or even got diagnosed with so when I was a kid going to the er all the time with stomach issues we later in life realized that was all anxiety driven! I performed my entire life dancing, pageants and competitive gymnastics so my body would shut down a lot before competitions and big performances. It got better through the years as I went on to be an NBA dancer and that just really for some reason didn't affect me as much which was odd because it's the biggest crowd of over 17000 people. I think when you work your whole for a dream and accomplish it that may help.
But later my anxiety came back and it was driven by my parents fighting and divorcing and both of them having issues with depression. I then lost both of them almost 4years apart. It's crazy because my parents never saw the age of 70! Just as I was starting to feel better with my grief of losing my dad, my mom who was healthy and doing amazing and who I also lived with just suddenly passed away out of nowhere! I didn't get a chance to even say goodbye or anything she was just gone and I thought how could I survive without her she was my everything! My best friend, my mom and my world! And it was just taken away! I was already struggling so bad with anxiety and that just intensified it more and it got worse and worse over the years and now I'm just trying so hard to manage it. Losing them both unexpectedly and suddenly really took my anxiety and fear to a whole other level. Last night I woke and I couldn't breathe and my grief hit me like a tornado. My RUclips channel is what my mom and I started and it's the only thing keeping me going because I refuse to let her down. But my sleep is all out of whack! These panic attacks happen every so often, so those breathing techniques are so helpful. My negative thoughts hit me every night because I'm so scared with what is going to happen next. The fear of losing and grief are so hard for me to manage at times. Keeping busy filming and editing help. Changing my ritual is much needed and hopefully I will have an easier time falling asleep. I really excited to try your techniques. Thank you so much and I really enjoy your channel!

Love this. And I appreciate how honest you are Lewis 😂👌🏼 12 Krispy Kreme’s 🍩 (I personally prefer Southern Maid or Shipley donuts) but also opening up about your own experience with anxiety. So relatable and down to Earth. The first 3 steps were all new to me, but the rest I had to learn on my own and didn’t even know they were actual techniques.
When you’re living with high anxiety that affects you physically, you eventually hit bottom and it’s either gonna break you or you get yourself back up and climb out but you come out 10x stronger for being able to do that.
I hope this helps someone: I was in a toxic 5-year relationship with someone and my anxiety was yelling at the top of it’s lungs trying to help me get out of the relationship for my benefit. Well eventually I did with the help of a therapist (psychotherapist, people are so afraid of this word but “psych” just means mind), my life did a 180 and everyone around me noticed. I was glowing. And now, me and anxiety are good friends. It’s a superpower, it’s intuition on steroids. I know when I’m in danger before I even know I’m in danger and now I can avoid bad situations/people all the time.

This could not have come at a more perfect time. The quote about the body feeling your feeling... wow. Failure is my greatest fear, always being told i'm not good enough or educated enough to succeed. I am now retired at an age with regret of not pushing myself forward with many dreams i know i could and should of accomplished. I am so glad there are many sites on social media that helps & supports people to believe in their dreams and move forward.

I'm going to try these techniques!! Such incredible information. I'm a psychiatric registered nurse, I will definitely recommend this video to every patient I see from here on out!!! I walked into my doctor's office about 6 weeks ago and told him "I'm ready for my lobotomy"... He just laughed... I wasn't kidding 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣. Anxiety, panic, and depression are horrible. Thank you so much for this video!!! I will definitely start using this knowledge! ❤️❤️❤️

Awesome tips Mr. Howes awesome. 🌹 again looks like you helped me to pin point something about fear. It's not enough to face the fears, it is doing something about the truth we find behind it. Unless we deal with that truth, the fear maybe less intense but may show up once in a while. Must do something. Good luck 😊

Also I do my best not to engage fully into my Ego and Anger because My Energy is Intense and do not want to unleash that into the world.
