This video made me so happy. I always love seeing people enjoy their hobbies and not only focus on the things that they HAVE to do. Our hobbies are a part of who we are and I know how most people ask "what is your job" but I prefer the question "what hobbies do you have, what do you enjoy doing in your free time" 💌
Watching you crochet reminds me of watching my mom. She would crochet to calm down after a hard day of work. She used to make us blankets. She made my daughter a baby blanket before she passed. I’ll cherish all those blankets forever. Crochet is a great skill.
I took an intro pottery class in college, it turned into 3 classes and now I have an entire studio in my garage 😂 it will become and obsession if you stick to it
i love finding hobbies in my 20s because they’re usually things i wouldn’t have done in my teens but in your 20s you have a new sense of confidence. with that said, i will be taking acting/improv class this fall ☺️
when you crochet, the ends can be weaved in! use the yarn/darning needle and sew the ends throughout the stitches! it's just called weaving in the ends if you want to find a youtube video! you should do it with both of the ends, its safer than knotting, especially if you wash them! it makes them invisible
My best ever tip I’ve received while my wheel throwing class: Push your elbows into your hip/belly and kind of thinking like PUSHING the clay away from you. This has the effect, that your arms and the clay is not wobbling around and therefore you get uniform clay items + you’ll have more control. Hope this helps and lots of fun!!! ❤
as a girlie who loves wheel throwing and did it in high school i audibly got excited on throwing attempt #3 you are getting so good at centering on your own!! congrats throwing is so fun and you get to make lots of cool functional art i hope you continue to do it!!
Hannah, I can't state the comfort that your videos bring me. As someone in their early 20s who feels like they have everything (and therefore nothing specific) in front of them, your wholesome candor for life and taking things one step at a time is so refreshing. Your videos are the one part of my self-care routine that NEVER gets skipped. Cheers to you! Thank you.
my gawd, I relate to this so much. I was such a hobby girl in my early 20s and used to paint, write and play instruments. Then I graduated from college, got a job and that was it. Life happened. I forgot what it was like to do things for the soul and truly enjoy them. Thank you for being so relatable
omg i love seeing people joining in on my favourite hobbies (mainly crochet and reading)!!!!! i'd recommend using bright coloured yarn for crochet when you're first starting out (definitely not black) and acrylic is ok for coasters if you are not putting super hot drinks on it. i saw someone else comment about weaving in the ends, which is recommended, but other than that you're doing so well for crocheting for the first time!! the basics and figuring out how to simply hold the yarn and hook is the hardest part - it only gets better from here!
We need a series of you trying new crafty things, and I being crocheting for years and I’m still struggling with some basic things so you got this girl 🙌🏼 and everyone says that you think you know how to count until you started crocheting 😭
11:12 "I have this issue were I just don't want to be a beginner - ever. Like I want to start something and then just be instantly good at it" I related SO much, holy crap. It's like you're a describing me lol I have to overcome that issue as well, so that I can be able to do more stuff. so thanks for the reminder! and thanks for the video, it was wonderful
would LOVE a part 2...or 3... or 4!!! you did so well on all of your projects and it was such a joy to watch you learn and rekindle your live for these hobbies!
It's the creation part of things that makes your cortisol levels spike (happiness and fulfilment). I found that out on my late 20s that it is painting, baking and gardening. The end results are there for your taking. So I'd suggest implementing cooking and baking as part of the process, especially since it's going to feed you while also doing wonders for your mental health.
it’s so amazing to watch someone else be a beginner too. you’re so right, hannah, it can be really scary being a beginner, but it’s so reassuring to know we’re all in the same boat. i’ve been crocheting for 10 years and it’s one of my biggest sources of joy! so glad you got into it!
I went to college and got my bachelors in studio art. I taught art to kids mostly and adults when I graduated in 2017. RUclips helped me practice different techniques for ceramics because I was always a drawer, graphic designer, or painter until I decided to talk ceramics. I made a piece inspired by Judy Chicago for my senior portfolio presentation in our art gallery. I taught myself how to do chattering and create nesting flower bowls and teapots. Even created my own glaze. It was a great hobby and therapeutic. I hope you continue to learn cause it gets easier the more you practice and get inspired with ideas of things you want to create.
omg the type of video I've been looking for!!!! I swear I need hobbies to get out of the house or do other than work or study. Your 20s is definitely about hobbies
HANNAH this is crazy telepathic but i just signed up for this pottery classes a few days. i’m glad we’re doing this for ourselves this year and pursuing our hobbies. life is too short to stop learning, even in our 20s i feel excited about the boundless opportunities in life!
Honestly, I felt so good watching someone having fun in their life. Bro this not only inspired me but kicked my ass to start my hobby engine again HAHA. And I adore you for that. I was really putting off painting, but now watching you made me feel that I should give it one more try. And ofcourse I'm going to try new hobbies too. Thank you for helping me out by showing up on my feed!!!🥰💗💖💋
This is awesome, i love wheel pottery and crocheting and you’ve inspired me to pick up my projects again! One tip for crocheting is to find the other end of your yarn from inside either end of the tube - this allows you to do a straight pull for more length, rather than unwinding yarn from the outside of the skein with it rolling around!
Those crochet coasters you bought before are just granny squares which are actually super easy to do!! My first crochet project I did granny squares and they’re super fun- you can make a bunch of them and connect them into a big blanket or just have them separate as coasters :)
Hi Hannah Elise!❤❤❤ In my 20's, one of my favorite hobbies are reading books, creative writing, art, drawing, listening to music, puzzles and taking walks. I think painting a canvas could be my new hobby.🎨🎨💜 Enjoy your pottery class!❤❤
Okay! I’ve got a master’s in ceramics & YOU ARE GOOD AT IT! LOL noooo one usually is able to make ANYTHING their first time at the wheel & you got it in your third try!! You have a natural talent for the wheel girly pop! ❤🎉
You’re so relatable ! I’m a little older than you (30yo) and I have started new hobbies ever since I’m 28 and it’s been the best, I really recommend it , I started roller skating and learning Italian, it’s never too late !❤
hannah, i’ve been a silent fan for a minute, but these videos have helped me immensely. i’ve gotten back into reading after a big slump and i’ve been trying new things despite my anxiety. thank you. also your editing and filming is top notch. ❤️
To even your stitches, once you finish a round and you join the last stitch with the first one, you're going to want to chain 2 and then work your next round. You're basically setting up the height for the next round and that will ensure you have a complete round with no dips. Hope this helps. Oh, and crocheting will become mindless once you get comfortable. I sit and watch DVDs while crocheting blankets.
I recently made some coasters myself! I’m not a professional, but this is what I e learned/do. When you are finished with the pattern you do what’s called a slip stitch. I’d look it up to double check. But, when you have finished your round, and you have done your last stitch, you go into your the first stitch of the round like you are going to single crochet, but instead you hook the yarn and you pull the yarn through both stitches on your hook. Then I just cut my yarn and pull my tail through the stitch on my hook and pull tight. You can do that twice if you want. Lastly, I weave my hook through some of the stitches and pull my tail through in order to hide it. Or I guess you could use a needle instead. I hope this all made sense. Good job! I also want to try pottery this year! It seems so intriguing!
You started crocheting and your first projects have A MAGIC RING? WOW! Mad respect. I crochet as well and MRs took me a while to figure out lol Edit for the non crocheters: the magic ring is the start of any circular project
I had soooo much fun watching this video and can't wait to see a part two. All the things you made in this video turned out so beautiful. I feel like a proud mom🥹🍓
This vlog and the couple of your previous vlogs makes me feel like you're back with your before graduation ENERGY, it's being nostalgic and making me happy
Literally crocheting a hat for my nephew as I watch this! You did great on your coaster, it always takes a long time as a beginner. My first granny square took me 5 hours!! I’ve been crocheting for a little over a year now and I’ve made several pieces of clothes and gifts. It gets super easy!!!
I want to crochet, but it seems so intimidating 😂 I’ve been a knitter for years, so you would think there would be some intuition there.. but no ❤ And the concentration is so true!! Just knitting in the round is so mindless 😂 My new hobby this year was spinning fibre! I got a drop spindle this winter and love being able to spin up some yarn and then make something else from that! Plus, it stretches my hobby budget 😋
I'm so so so glad that you decided to pick up your hobbies again! I remember watching your old videos and thinking, " Oh god 'she's soo creative!" And hell yeah!!! I'd like to see a part 2
hiiii i love this video!!! i've crocheted clothes and many coasters since I was 7 and if you pull the tail of the yarn inside the magic circle it will close up! Then sew in your ends (use a yarn needle to sew the tail ends into the piece) and it'll look neat and tidy and stay together really nicely :)
Yes, please!!! Would love to see a part 2 or series!🤗I have been a crocheter since I was like 9 years old. Such a relaxing hobby. Maybe do a blanket…they are flat, straight & easy.😉
You are in one of the best places in the world for yarn stores! Look some up-the yarn is better than at the craft store and the help you’ll get is out of this world. Lots of local yarn stores also have classes for crochet and for knitting. I’m making myself a knitted tee while I’m watching this video.
This is wonderful. I want to learn how to crochet. I think like anything else it may not be easy at first but I will be glad I did so later on. I started painting about a year ago and I have learned so much and have tried acrylic and watercolor so far and am excited to try new mediums. This is inspiring. Thank you for sharing.
The poverty class looks like fun! Your creations came out looking good! You should take a semester class if you like it! Yes, make your hobbies a series!
Where the holes are bigger on your crochet is where you increased it (put two into the same stitch). Honestly its better that they are like that because it means you aren't crocheting too tight. If you want them small, you crochet tighter... but that makes it harder. You did so well for your first time!!!
“I’m a real oneeee”! I’d 100% love a part 2! Only just came across your channel and I’ve immediately subscribed. I absolutely love trying new things and this has inspired me to continue to learn new things too!
I’ve found putting on an audiobook and doing one of the diamond art kits is really fun! I’ve done some of the Van Gogh ones and it’s really relaxing after staring a a screen all day for work!
Oooh I’ve never heard of those, I’m gonna look them up!! And YES I need to get into audiobooks more - I love podcasts but I feel like listening to an audiobook would be even better
I absolutely NEED a part 2 of this masterpiece of a video!!! Not only I love the theme, but also your editing skills are ✨slaying✨ (as always queen) 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 This motivated me to go and try hobbies by myself too 🥹🩷🩷🩷 thank you Hannah!!! Big hug all the way from Spain! If you ever want to visit you have a guide in Madrid for the best coffee shops and cute spots 🥰🥰🥰
me, a well seasoned crocheter watching you pick that yarn for a coaster as an absolute beginner fried my brain 😅 and then hearing your experience with learning how to crochet was very nostalgic and relatable to me 😂
Just wanted to say that your past few video have been SO GOOD. They are fun, genuine and honestly a piece of art. Congrats girl on your new inspiration! I’m so happy that you seem happy! ❤
I didn’t realize how much I needed to watch this video. I deserve the feeling that you felt at the end when you were so thrilled at what you had learned and made. We all deserve that these days. Thank you for putting yourself out there like this. It really is changing the world little by little 🫶🏼
1. i was smiling thru this entire vid you looked so happy and proud which you should be!! 2. pink is UR COLOR OKKKKK!🩷 3. loving this new updo its so cute i always look forward to your uploads and ig posts & stories🥳
This is a great video! I love doing crafty stuff too-the crocheting-omg. Same issue here. I learned many years ago and embarked on a cardigan. Did great until the sleeves. Ugh. I too am using a fluffy type yarn that, when you have to undo things, it catches to itself making the process much longer. But, so far, I think I’ve figured it out. Pottery is the BEST! I loved working on the wheel, though I did it in school. Many, many years ago :D
Pleeeease make a part 2! It is really comforting to watch someone trying new things and not being afraid of being a beginner :')
YOU GOT IT 🫡
“it’s more fun if it’s not perfect” YESSSSS 🩷💐💌
My next crochet project: writing this on a pillow (somehow)
I need that quote on a shirt 😊
Hey i watch your Videos
YESSSS! We spend our time taking out everything that brings us joy and wonder why we're so anxious and depressed. I yay the hobbies segments!!
LITERALLY. My priorities need to get back in line

Yes!! Make this a series where you try new hobbies 🩵 it can be crafts and who knows maybe it can turn into pickleball, pilates, yoga ect!

Enjoy your pottery class!❤❤
I wish I was a book girl, I don't know how y'all do it
Omg I used to LOVE doing Bob Ross paintings on canvas. You’ve got a great list!! Never stop ❤

More hobbies!!!
I need more hobby inspo. I've been reading, painting, watercoloring, gardening, and baking :)
The music is everything. What a relaxing and enjoyable video. I’m a real one❣️
