Porsche didn't cancel the manual entirely. They just aren't offering it upon the launch year of the 992.2. They did this same thing for the model launch of the 992.1.
The "semi manual" paddle shifters are still a decent compromise. Making it both fun, and much harder to damage than a regular full manual transmission if you are going to let others drive it.
