What a beautiful Southern lady, and she always ends the program with smile for Jesus. Just love your cooking, God Bless from wild and wonderful West Virginia ❤
Every time I watch your videos I smell the White Shoulders perfume my grandmother wore. That is how strong the memories of my grandmother are when I watch you. Grandma was the divinity maker in our family. This video convinced me to master the craft in honor of her. Thank you.
I haven't made Divinity in a few decades. I loved making it with my mom❣❣ We made double batches of pink, green and white. We put pecans in the pink, walnuts in the white and no nuts in the green. It was handy having both of us to spoon out those double batches because, as you know, you have to work fast before it sets up!😄 You've inspired me to get my 2 daughters together and carry on the tradition! I know that Mom would like that and watch over us from above (and probably have a few laughs at us fumbling around❣😄). Thank you for the inspiration and sharing your talent with us‼😊
I absolutely love that you made it with your mom..... and yes, pass that tradition on!! Happy to be some inspiration! Bless you and yours! thank you for watching!
I am so happy to have found you on U tube. I live in Connecticut now for 37 yrs, and in New Jersey for 15 before that. I heard your voice and diction and immediately fell in love. I was born and raised in SC and you brought me home in an instant. You sound just like my momma’s best friend!
Thank you so much for this. My great grandmother was the divinity and fudge maker. Nobody today makes it so this brought back a lot of memories. I’m no cook but I’ll have to try my hand at it. Thanks!
I've greatly enjoyed your recipe videos, and especially the candy-making ones. My mother taught me to make candy, with Peanut Brittle. She also made Divinity, but rarely, and always without children. She was a fancy city girl in her mind, and used a thermometer, even though her mother taught her the water test. Watching you do the test it makes a whole lot more sense to me, and watching the spinning thread was eye-opening. I can't wait to try making Divinity and getting the hang of the test. These days, my candy specialty is English Toffee, but I can't eat it these days. Instead, I make Saltine Toffee Crunch, which takes much less time, and produces a more tender, crispy, deadly product, coated with chocolate and topped with chopped or slivered toasted almonds. Yum! (!c. butter, 1 cup sugar, bring to boil, boil 5-7 minutes, remove from heat. Fill a sheet pan with saltines (or other crackers), breaking to fit. Pour syrup over, and place in 350 oven for 5-7 minutes, until somewhat brown and bubbling. Place pan on a rack and sprinkle with 1c chocolate chips - I prefer bittersweet. Let stand for 10 minutes, then spread melted chocolate with a spatula. Sprinkle on almonds, and press them into the chocolate. This works best if you crush them first. Cool and break into pieces. SO good for a pot-luck or party.
So so true. One lady is the divinity queen in every Southern town. My aunt was the one in my hometown. She tinted hers pink. Im loving this do much. Im from a small town in Texas but have lived on Oregon for 30 years. Nobody here gets it!
My Great Aunt Mildred was the divinity queen in our small town. We only got it at Christmas because it was "special". My how we loved getting her tray of divinity and fudge. Thank you for prompting a very special memory.
MeMe , we love your stories! God bless you and your family. We see you shine for Jesus! Your sense of humor is do great!m My mouth is watering while you stir the pecans into the divinity!!🤗🙄😋🎊🎉
I'm the fudge maker in my family and knew what you meant by soft ball stage. I've never owned a candy thermometer until recently. Someone gave it to me. I still haven't used it. I love your recipes. Thanks.
I miss that southern accent. I use to say boil just like you. I don't understand why that person said they need captions bc they couldn't understand you. I hear ya just fine😊
Oh boy❣️ Oh boy ❣️Oh boy ❣️❣️❣️ this is the best recipe I’ve ever seen ♥️♥️♥️ You should be a teacher ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you,Thank you, Thank You ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you MeMe for sharing I use to buy my divinity at the Lays 5 and 10cent store. I never tried to make it myself. I have fond memories of growing up in the 60s and buy my candy. It was so good. Your divinity looked so good. I am sure it is delicious. I am sure the retirement home residents loce your divinity candy. You brought back precious memories back as a young girl. This North Alabama is now 66 and on oxygen. With love from me to you. Enjoy your day.❤
My late Aunt Beths next door neighbor was the queen of divinity here in my hometown,if she brought you a tin of divinity at Christmas you felt like 👑 royalty !!
Can’t wait to try this! My 2nd grade teacher made divinity and shared with the class! I’m 73 years old, and remember that like it was yesterday!! 🥰👏🏻💓🙏
I remember my mom said she and my dad tried to make it and it was a mess, it was too thin. What a nice thing to do for that community where you work, I bet that is such a nice memory for those folks. Those were better times. Loved the split pants story. Hysterical.
My grandma passed away 16 years ago. You remind me of her so much! Even the way she explained how to do things. I may be 40, but will you be my new grandma?!! lol 😂
My Grandma was the Divinity queen of Duncan Oklahoma. She couldn't go anywhere in town without a crowd of autograph seekers swarming around her car, photo flashes and pen and paper in the air. You'd a thought Elvis was in town for some reason. A true legend! 😅 she is no longer with us but the divinity queen myth endures. Some say on a quiet fall night if the wind is just right, you can hear a mixing sound coming down from heaven.😊 Thanks for sharing. It brought up so many great memories.
Wow! That was fascinating to watch! Evidently there is an art to making divinity. I've eaten it many times, but I didn't have a clue as to how "difficult" it was to make. Great video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.😊
My mouth is watering just watching you make this♥️ I have tried several times to make divinity, I always end up with a BIG mess!!!!! You gave explicit instructions on this recipe and I will definitely try again ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Thank you so very much ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I am loving this method thank you ma’am…! I have seen several folks make this basically all the same but I believe I like your method better thank you so much for sharing with us, blessings ❤❤
LOVE YOUR STORIES!!! Please keep telling them!!! My mama & mother-in-law were the BEST story tellers. I sure miss them, but happy I've found your page!🥰
My mother was the divinity queen and handed it down to me. I always use my kitchen aid mixer but my mothers rule with divinity......ALWAYS wash every utensil, mixing bowl and attachments, spoon, spatula in hot soapy water before you even begin. Grease is divinity´s arch enemy. The weather has nothing to do with making it either. I live in Mississippi, 61 years old and make it year round, rainy weather, hot humid summer it does not matter if your equipment is grease free.
You brought back a childhood memory when you said,”Turn the eye on.” I love watching you cook! I’m going to make the meatloaf first, then try this Divinity! Thank you! ❤
#1 Rule, never, ever make on a rainy day. If it doesn't set, dont throw away, frost a yellow layered cake. I love your accent. I'm from Georgia. I pronounce pecan as puh-kann.😊
You mentioned your yellow jasmine. I recently cut my yellow jasmine vines back. Prune I guess is the proper term. It had taken over one of my gardenia bushes. I had to carefully cut it out bc my gardenias were blooming. It has also taken over my wooden fence that it grew on. By the time I got through cutting it back I had a stack of vines over five feet tall and about four feet wide. It amazes me how fast it grows and mine was beautiful this spring. It actually bloomed in late winter this year. Sorry I got off topic but when you mentioned yellow jasmine I had to tell you my story. Divinity is a candy I love but hate to make. Very few people even cook this bc it is messy and complicated for inexperienced cooks. But oh so delicious. Thank you for sharing. God bless
This brings back memories of my momma making divinity! She has been gone for 22 years now, but I know she is with Jesus so I’m at peace about it! Thanks for all,the great recipes. I ordered you cookbook, can’t wait to get it!❤
Oh wow ! my Mom and only my Mom made Divinity, Christmas and Easter, 3 older sisters didn't? ....or kept it for themselves lol haven't thought about it in many years. Mom was 43 when she had me and I'm 72 now, I will give it a try, thanks! now if I could find someone who knows how to make Cole Dommer's
I learned to make these from my mom. She was a master at it! I always make it in a stand mixer, just easier for me to pour the liquid in the egg whites, but it works. I have never tried to do half of it at soft boil stage and the other half at hard crack! That is awesome! I am definitely going to try that. My family has nut allergies, so we leave out the pecans all together. Still super yummy. And a side note for those who are allergic to corn, you can use rice syrup instead of corn syrup and it works beautifully!
I enjoy your so much on utube, the little tips you five cooking helps me so much. Thank you for the stories, I just look for you esp on Sunday night after church, it's a quiet time for me, my husband watching TV so I always try r o find you.
What a great story about your husband's pants. My husband also coached basketball until he changed careers. We have many stories to tell as well. I have never made divinity because I've been scared to try. You have inspired me to face my fear :) Good tip about the glass bowl. I could really enjoy a piece of that right now.
Hi MeMe….new subscriber here from Jackson, Tennessee! Been watching several of your videos and have really enjoyed watching you cook. My other sister has my grandmother’s recipe but she can’t find it right now. 🤦🏻♀️ Thank you so much for all your fabulous cooking videos….and including Shine for Jesus in them. ✝️✝️ Have a wonderful blessed weekend! 😊🦋💟
Thank you for this, our mother made wonderful divinity, we didn't have her recipe and didn't pay attention as a child when she made it. I am definitely making this soon. I'm in my 70's, haven't had this since she passed in 2004.

MeMe you are a BLESSINGS, i remember my mamaw making divinity and I can remember my mother trying over and over but never quite getting it ,Love watching learning from you like watching listening to my mamaw ❤
I enjoyed watching this video!! I’ve never seen anyone make divinity! My grandmother made it usually around Christmas time. Thank you for sharing your kitchen and recipes! 🌷
My Aunt taught me this to ice cakes with! I still use it to this day. Thank you for the memories! I want to buy all of your cook books….I’m in Canada. Can you tell me how to order them??
I am Rewatching your video and divinity. I have not made it in a long time and I thought I might make it for Easter. I may attempt to add a pastel color to it to make it more Springlake. But what I wanted to tell you was my brothers wife is from North Carolina as it is her mother for generations. She has lived up here in the north since she came here to college 30 years ago. She still has a lovely accent. I asked her if she called the burner on a stove an eye. She said she did not but growing up in Hickory her mother dead and her grandmother did along with most of the ladies she knew. She said I must’ve called it an eye as well. She did point out to me that she had spent some of her 18 years living in England before coming back to North Carolina and maybe that’s how is she did not use that word but she thought she might’ve as a child giving it some thought. She’s going down to North Carolina next week for a week to see her mother. When she asked her mother about it and she said that’s what I call it and they had a good laugh about it and then I told her that she should follow your channel and have her 91-year-old mother follow the channel as her mother I believe is a lot like you she only recently closed her business and she was just recertified for her license and she enjoys every day. Thank you again for your wonderful videos and for reminding people to remember Jesus that is not done enough in our world. God bless you and your family.
I live in New England and came across your channel today and immediately subscribed. I just ordered your cookbook and am very anxious for its arrival! Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes and videos!
Thank you for showing how you make this! My Mom gave me her recipe and I lost it in a tornado. She was still living but couldn’t find it to give it to me again. Anyway, I loved hers because it wasn’t soft. It was firm like a piece of fudge. She made it in an iron skillet and always told me, “Make sure your children are not in the kitchen because this is so dangerously hot!” She did just like you and felt it in a cup of water. She used a stand mixer and poured that heavy iron skillet into a GLASS mixing bowl…just like you! She greased a pan though and cut hers in squares and had chopped pecans in it. She told me never to make it on a rainy day. I may get brave and make it this Christmas since you’ve shared your video. However, I think I’ll use my candy thermometer just like I do with my fudge as I don’t trust myself to know when it’s at the hard boil stage. Thank you! Most people make it soft and I don’t like it that way.
The one & only time I tried to make it I burned up my hand mixer too 😂I’ve never tried again since. I actually thought I used the wrong type of mixer & that is why it burnt up. I just might try again. Thank you. You are a treasure & inspiration to watch. God bless you! ❤
You made the process look easy. My mother always had trouble making divinity and always said that the weather could affect the candy making process. Her sister Nancy always made divinity without a hitch. Looks delicious.
My mom, God rest her soul, made the best divinity at Christmas! Do you think one of her 3 daughters could replicate it? No way! I think her secret ingredient was love and she was deeply loved!
Oh My! You're the only person I've seen make divinity like my mom! She used the water test! I remember as a kid waiting to eat the tested sugar syrup!🤣 Thank you so much for bringing up such a precious memory of my mom!💖
My mother made Divinity. I know all her recipes, but this one was never written down for some strange reason. She was from Iowa, so hers is a little different. Wish I'd payed closer attention!
What a beautiful Southern lady, and she always ends the program with smile for Jesus. Just love your cooking, God Bless from wild and wonderful West Virginia ❤

Interesting how a few miles makes such a difference. In GA a pee can is something they used to use overnight rather than go outside.

Loved the split pants story. Hysterical.

🤣🙂
Thanks for your great advice! I successfully made divinity today. 😊
Wonderful!🙂
My Grandma was the Divinity queen of Duncan Oklahoma. She couldn't go anywhere in town without a crowd of autograph seekers swarming around her car, photo flashes and pen and paper in the air. You'd a thought Elvis was in town for some reason. A true legend! 😅 she is no longer with us but the divinity queen myth endures. Some say on a quiet fall night if the wind is just right, you can hear a mixing sound coming down from heaven.😊 Thanks for sharing. It brought up so many great memories.

It is the eye lol my granny said so ❤️ I told my dad that my wife could make Divinity well she couldn’t and boy were they both mad 😂lesson learned great recipe
I love listening to Meme talk. I spent my formative years in South Carolina, and I miss the accent and the gentile nature of the people.
My mom (God rest her soul) used to make divinity when I was a kid, so this brought back memories. :) She also taught me how to do the soft ball and hard crack stages because we didn't have a candy thermometer back then. I've since bought one, but I find doing the water test to be more accurate when I'm making different candies. It's good to see someone else still does it this way.
Wonderful!
MeMe you are a BLESSINGS, i remember my mamaw making divinity and I can remember my mother trying over and over but never quite getting it ,Love watching learning from you like watching listening to my mamaw ❤
Thank you!!🙂
I love Divinity! I've only had the kind from See's Candies. I think they put walnuts in theirs. I haven't had it in ages.
"y'all I'm disappointed, the recipe doesn't call for butter" 😂🤣 5:08
🤣
My granny taught me how to make divinity. We made it every Christmas.

Thanks for watching and please subscribe.🙂❤️🙏🏻
I could eat that whole bowl. I'm saving this recipe.
It's so good!😋
Looks wonderful
Thank you!! My family loves it!
I make Divinity every Christmas if the weather is dry, not rainy. Beat til it loses it’s gloss! Love this candy?
I live in New England and came across your channel today and immediately subscribed. I just ordered your cookbook and am very anxious for its arrival! Thank you for sharing your wonderful recipes and videos!
Thank you!!🙂
Thank you for showing how you make this!
You will love this recipe. : ) Loved your comment.
The one & only time I tried to make it I burned up my hand mixer too 😂I’ve never tried again since. I actually thought I used the wrong type of mixer & that is why it burnt up. I just might try again. Thank you. You are a treasure & inspiration to watch. God bless you! ❤
You can do it! Give it another try!
You made the process look easy. My mother always had trouble making divinity and always said that the weather could affect the candy making process. Her sister Nancy always made divinity without a hitch. Looks delicious.
👍🏻😋🙂
Best with black walnuts.
Found your channel this morning and bought your cookbook right away and am really looking forward to receiving it!
Thanks so much. Please subscribe.🙂❤️
You nailed that. I would love to buy a batch from you. You could sell that stuff. I have never had good luck making and it is my favorite candy.
Maybe one day! Keep trying!
My mom, God rest her soul, made the best divinity at Christmas! Do you think one of her 3 daughters could replicate it? No way! I think her secret ingredient was love and she was deeply loved!
Most likely❤️😋🙂🙏🏻
My mom used to make divinity frosting, and it was so good.Do you have a recipe for that?
If she doesn't answer, I can share our families divinity frosting recipe. We love it on chocolate cake!!

Oh My! You're the only person I've seen make divinity like my mom! She used the water test! I remember as a kid waiting to eat the tested sugar syrup!🤣 Thank you so much for bringing up such a precious memory of my mom!💖
And yes! My mom was the "Divinity Queen" in our small town!😂

I make it anytime of the year.
My mother made Divinity. I know all her recipes, but this one was never written down for some strange reason. She was from Iowa, so hers is a little different. Wish I'd payed closer attention!
Thank you for your explanation of how to make divinity. I have tried for years to make it. I think I will try again this Christmas to make it!
