Jesse Marsch has spoken recently on his podcast with Charlie and Jimmy that he wants to evolve his style of play to be less rigid and more in tune with the players at his disposal as well as taking into account the opposition. Whether or not that was just rhetoric remains to be seen but if he wants to be successful and ultimately coach again in Europe, he will have to evolve.

Junior Hoilett strikes me as a no-brainer after watching Davies butcher corner after corner against T&T. Do we throw away everyone who doesn't have top speed? Dead balls don't require any speed but they're clearly an incredibly important part of the game. And I still strongly believe that Hoilett sitting in a 10 will get a LOT more out of David. Play him for 60 mins or even 45 and then have Osorio play the rest. Between the two, surely they can handle the pressing, following J. David's lead. In a 4-2-3-1, who else would slot into the 10 role? Kone would be interesting, but he doesn't strike me as a work horse type player either - can he handle the constant pressing?

Back then the USA had little talent but much effort and cohesion. Today they have a trace more talent but less effort and cohesion. The result is much the same. Let's be honest: the USA has had every opportunity to become a class act. Most tournaments are played on home soil, which affords them a disproportionate win outcome and thus a world ranking that doesn't consider the home side. That world ranking regularly gives them easier opposition at the World Cup, and yet they crash and burn cycle in cycle out. Heck they didn't even qualify for the 2018 WC and barely made it through for 2022. They then got to play Wales and Iran and squeaked by, only to be outclassed in the R16. I know as I was there, as I have been at most of the World Cups since 1986. The USA has 10x the population, unlimited funding and home field advantage, and yet it's questionable if they will even continue to come out on top in CONCACAF in the upcoming years. Only time will tell. Let's play Nations League somewhere else and see if they win.
Settling for effort and togetherness is for participation awards in progressive public schools. This is competition at the highest level of this game. Nobody involved in this game at this level is here because they settle for putting in a good effort. But expecting 'results' doesn't have to mean expecting wins. It's about expecting growth/improvement with the objective being able to beat the best in the world. As it happens, we have some really, really high calibre talent, so it is fair to expect a coach with Marsch's resume to be able to get results with that talent.

You can’t in all practicality demand results as there is another team out there as well and you can’t control what they do or how they react. But you can demand effort. You can preach togetherness (it’s a team game and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that teams that play with a sense of togetherness on balance do better than a bunch of individuals out on the pitch). I know it’s a bit of a cliche but it also rings true that the desired results will come for this team if they put forth the effort that I’m sure Marsch will demand and if that effort is supplemented with a desire to play for each other rather than themselves.
Marsh will be a good hire the high press is a great equalizer. In the premier league leeds always had a shot. The record didnt show it but with a finisher and a little speed on the backside leeds would have been way better.
Marsch has talked about adapting and having learned from past experiences. I think the predominant counterpress system, which he has implemented in 4231 and 4222 could be very effective against teams that will dominate possession, which we expect to face in the near term and World Cup. The system requires playing through the middle in tight spaces and accurate passing to feet, which is not about just athleticism and requires skilled footballers, contrary to what was said here. He also has the ability to rally a group, which we need right now.
Marsch being American should not be an issue. And stop saying there were qualified Canadian coaches when NONE of them have international experience. We're preparing for the World Cup, not league play.

In case you haven't noticed, the team has been in free fall for 2 years thanks to the Canadian market being unable to support the cost of international soccer - and certainly not woke international soccer where the women's team thinks they can demand salaries that would bankrupt them if left to their own. So I guess now you're going to complain that the Habs and Leafs play in an American hockey league? Give me a break. Pro sports is very integrated between Canada and the USA, and Canadians benefit from that access. The MLS is not funding the CANMNT, the owners of the Canadian MLS clubs are, such as the MLSE. You know I will be a bit blunt here: Canada's biggest problem is it full of naive, small minded people. No one gives a shit were the money comes from. If people did, no one would support NBA teams for instance.

Is he the right fit? Well can he make the tactical changes that Herdman couldn't in the Croatia game? Can he adapt the gameplan to get the most out of the players who are available for that game? Both Herdman and Biello struggled when Eustaquio was a scratch. Its the Jamaica game 2nd half, what would he do differently from Biello?
The federation is losing money we are lucky that the mls teams wanted to kick in. Jesse doesn’t deliver he’s canned. But I want to believe. He has the skillset
