Finally I’ve been waiting for you to make this video. I’ll explain some of your questions: 1)The home and away fans: the crowd is mixed, there is no specific spot for home or away fans, they share the stadium. 2) The rules: when a player hits the ball, he can run to any of the bases, going from first, second, third, and home. Every time a player steps on home, their team gets a point, or a “run” in baseball terms. 3) Home runs: When a player hits the ball into the stands in fair territory, it’s called a home run. This means the hitter and everyone else on base can score. 4) Basic rules: if the batter hits the ball and it’s caught by a fielder before it hits the ground, it’s an out. If he hits the ball on the ground, the fielder can throw the ball to first base. If the ball gets to first base before the batter, he’s out. There are 3 outs per half inning. After 3 outs, the other team has the chance to score. There are 9 innings in a game. If the game is tied after the ninth inning, it goes into extra innings until someone wins. If the home team takes the lead in the ninth inning or on, it’s called a walk-off win. That’s when the crowd goes crazy a lot in the video. 5) Pitchers: the pitcher is the one who throws the ball to the hitter. If he throws the ball inside the “strike zone” it’s a strike. If not, it’s called a ball. The Umpire decides if it’s a strike or ball. If he throws the ball and the hitter swings and misses, it’s a strike too. If the batter hits it, and the ball goes into foul territory, it’s a foul ball and a strike. Three strikes is a strike-out, and four balls is a walk, where the batter goes to first base for free. You can’t strike out on a foul ball. 5) Reaction suggestions: -Nastiest pitches in baseball (some pitchers throw the ball 100+ miles per hour, with a foot of vertical or horizontal movement!) -Longest home runs in MLB history (some have been farther than 500 feet) -Craziest plays in MLB history -most emotional moments in MLB history I hope you see this and find it useful. I hope it helps you understand the game I love.
If you really wanted to get him wondering what the hell is going on, add all manner of craziness: check swings, 2-5-6-3 triple plays, 6-3 double plays, fielder's choice, infield fly rule, balks, AL vs NL, etc etc etc :D But overall, your explanation is exactly right for someone fresh into viewing MLB.
I Has 3 Cray0ns However it depends on the situation. Take the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays for instance, the Red Sox are 118 years old and the rays are 21 years old. Since the rays are in Florida lots of Red Sox fans will travel down to Florida for vacation and will see their favorite team the Red Sox. Watch highlights from a Red Sox Rays game and I am sure you will see a sea of red unless it is the playoffs. Also St Petersburg Florida is far away from Tampa so that is also another reason why people don’t come. Also for other teams it is due to Geography like the Toronto Blue Jays fans dominating Seattle Mariners games when they are in town because the vancouver people are closer to Seattle than Toronto.
baseball playoffs go like this in this order: AL Wild Card NL Wild Card (win or go home) ALDS NLDS (best of 5) ALCS NLCS (best of 7) World Series (Best of 7) Major Leauge baseball is split between two leagues the (American league and the National league) the winners of the ALDS and NLDS play for the ALCS and NLCS, the winners from those series play for the world series. All of these reactions are late in the game or huge game-changing moments at home teams stadium hence why the crowd goes insane. the build-up from the game and playoff baseball produces some of the most dramatic moments in sports.
Yeah, no more ugly concrete & steel donuts called the cookie cutter multipurpose stadiums from the 60s & 70s. The Baltimore Orioles retro modern style Camden Yards built in 1992 forever revolutionized ball park designs in both MLB & the NFL.
Bro I've just done this reaction 🤝 you were completely right man these stadiums are something I've never ever seen in my life, absolutely incredible bro
Lavish Luka glad you enjoyed it bro. American sports have been my entire life and so there are a lot of ideas I’ve suggested just to show you not just some of the greatest players but the culture of American sports bc it’s so different
Carlos R Gonzalez Weins yes sir baseball is so different in other sports there is no time there is no clock none of that the field is shaped in other ways and it pisses me off when soccer fans come around and say soccer is the best bc it is world wide thank u dude appreciate it
@@ThatsMrTaylor2u it’s not called America’s pastime just because of the amount of people that watch it. Baseball has pretty much played an important role in shaping the country over the years, especially in the 20th century. Many historical moments happened around baseball. An example being Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier, that was a very huge moment in history.
Yes, they did. I’m aa Astros fan. They were not the only team that was “cheating”. They should own it, but there were many more teams cheating. And they are cowards for not owning up to it. Similar to the steroid scandal. Scapegoats get burried
I mean if you go certain stadiums it will almost always be full the whole year. Yankee Stadium, Busch, Citi Field, Dodger stadium, Wrigley, miller park to name a few
In the US we do not have different sections for visiting teams and home teams. I took a coworker from Germany to a MLB game once and that was one of the biggest things that surprised him. We do not have to keep sitting down. And yes there are times where the ball has been hit completely out of the stadium and lands on the street behind the stadium or into the ocean if it is a coastal team.
Just this year MLB started playing a 2-game series ever year in June at London Olympic stadium. This year it was the Yankees and Red Sox. Next year it will be the Cardinals vs the Cubs.
Nathan Weinstein yeah the MLB now does a 2 game series with big rivals in baseball. In 2019, they did Yankees vs Red Sox. In 2020 they’re gonna do Cardinals vs Cubs and in 2021 they’re gonna do Giants vs Dodgers
Up til 1984 the fans used to storm onto the field after a world series win. Imagine 10's of thousands of people just tearing up the field. I think the longest ball hit was Babe Ruth at over 600 feet out of the stadium and yeah from time to time balls are hit completely out of the stadium. Yes, you can stand up. And the world series is a 4 out of 7 game series that determines who is champions that year. And yes, anyone can come to any game so yes you can go watch your team play in another city. Be careful because sometimes fights can break out due to that. And yes, many people have been injured by balls hitting them. One guy a few years ago reached for a ball and fell from the upper deck and died while his young son watched. Some times it gets really crazy like in 1984 after the Detroit Tigers won the world series people by the thousands were outside of the stadium turning over cars including a police car that I think got set on fire.
In 2016 the Chicago Cubs won their first championship (World Series) in 108 years and all the cheering and jumping in Chicago literally registered as an earthquake and the celebration in Chicago ranked as the 7th largest gathering of people in human history!
Most if not all of these games are in the playoffs. They play 162 games a year which only a handful of teams can fill their stadium all year. In the playoffs the crowd pumps up a lot.
@@ronaldmcdonald8125 nah Yankees do. Yankee stadium sounds as loud as that without a roof. And the old stadium was arguably one of the loudest stadiums in the US
Mo had to pitch extra innings... more than I think he has ever pitched in one game (as a closer). He really kept the game as it was before Boone got the HR.
The second clip was Luis “Gonzo” Gonzales’s Championship-winning base hit in the 2001 World Series for my beloved Arizona Diamondbacks 💜🐍⚾️ Considered one of the most exciting 7-game World Series (Championship series) of all time
I really liked this vid, I am glad you were amazed. baseball stadiums aren't always that full but there are always thousands of people there for 162 games per year plus the postseason (playoffs). I am a huge baseball fan and I love seeing peoples initial reactions. I would love to see more baseball videos in the future!
I disagree. Go to Arrowhead during a regular season game and you'll have decibels that MLB would never even come close to. Football (American) has surpassed baseball as America's game but, how can you not love this game. Baseball had heart on top of heart
Mr. Grinch football is hard because you have to be strong and dedicated. Baseball is hard because you actually have to have skill. The dedication it takes to go through the minor leagues to even make your debut in the big leagues and that doesn’t even mean you good enough to stay up there they can send you back down. It takes a lot of skill to become good and hown your craft. And to play your heart out 162 games. Football could never
People love to say baseball is boring, but these moments just make it so special, loved seeing someone with fresh eyes take in these incredible moments just such a pure reaction, I wanted to give every backstory to every play for each moment, like Jeter’s final home at bat, Gibson limping around the bases, that’s what makes sports so great, the emotional connection, the stories told, and the ability to make the rest of the world disappear. When these moments happen nothing else matters and being in the moment is the greatest part, so much fun to watch.
John Harris By your logic anything can be football. Anyways, none of this matters. I live in the US and I’m more American than any other nationality. However, I like to call it football. If you want to call it soccer then go ahead, the only thing that matters is our love of the game.
In San Francisco, balls hit out over the right field wall land in the water of San Francisco Bay among the kayaks and boats waiting to recover them. Baseballs float.
1:00 I was there, they were chanting the pitcher’s name to mock him. That made him drop the ball which made the crowd cheer. Than they started chanting his name again “Cueto” and the batter hit a home rub which scored us a point. The crowd went insane because that was the first playoff game for us in 20 years
Funny thing is, a lot of baseball fans I know would love to see a soccer game in England. Don’t know anyone who would like to see a cricket match though lol
Your comment on people not having their phones out really resonates. I’d give anything to have everyone leave their phones at home for game time. Could be so much fun to just enjoy the moment.
I love your reactions to this! It is enlightening seeing someone not familiar with a sport react to videos of it. I assume I would be the same way if I was watching cricket or rugby, haha. I saw some people answer your questions about home/away fans and all that. Usually, the crowd is probably about 95% home team fans in most games. There are some exceptions for the bigger/more popular teams like the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, or Chicago Cubs. They have more of a nation-wide fanbase, so they have a good amount of fans at away games, too. I know you were questioning how to interpret some of the reactions in terms of gravity. The "World Series" is the final series of the year, which crowns the champion. So when you see or hear that, it is the biggest series possible. The World Series is a best-of-7, so the first team to win 4 games in the series, wins the championship. So when you could see in the corner that the series was "Tied 2-2", that means they are playing in game five, and the team that wins is going up 3-2 in the series and needs to win only one more to win the championship. "Game 7" is a very important phrase in American sports lexicon, because baseball, hockey, and basketball are all a best-of-7 championship series, and when there is a "Game 7" it means the series is tied 3-3, and it is a winner-take-all final game, and EVERYONE goes crazy for it! Before the World Series are the ALCS (American League Championship Series) and NLCS (National League Championship Series). Baseball has two different leagues, the American League and National League, and each league has 15 teams in it. So the ALCS is the last two teams remaining from the AL, and the NLCS is the last two teams remaining from the NL. Before the League Championship Series, there's the ALDS (American League Division Series) and NLDS (National League Division Series), which are the final four teams from each league. Four teams from the NLDS and four teams from the ALDS, and the two winning teams in each league advance to the LCS. Before the League Division Series, there's a single-game wildcard game in each league. These are played between the last two teams in each league to make the playoffs. It is a single winner-take-all game, and the winner goes on to play the top team in each league in the ALDS and NLDS. You were also asking if fans stand or sit, and it really is different in each situation. Baseball, for the most part, is a very slow sport. What you're seeing in these clips is not really the norm. These are the top moments of the game, all in the playoffs or for the world series championship. Regular season games, of which each team plays 162, are much less "exciting" for the most part. Baseball is probably the sport where people sit the most often, because it is such a slow-moving game and doesn't have that many exciting moments. People will stand for home runs, but that's about it. In the playoffs, which most of these are from, people will stand a lot of the time, especially late in the games. In football/basketball/hockey, I would say fans stand more often, but there's really no teams or sports where fans are standing the whole time, or even the majority of the time.
When the balls goes out to the stand is called a Home Run, that means everybody on base and the batter scores. Thats a lot of runs in one hit, usually enough to win the game if it is at the ending innings.
Just as an FYI The Super bowl is the NFL championship The World Series is the MLB Championship The Stanley Cup is the NHL Championship The Finals is the NBA Championship Also wildcard refers to the first round of the playoffs in all of those sports.
What a fun video, man. You did a good job with formulating an understand of what was happening. It's not an overly complicated game at it's base rules and how it's played. You seemed like you enjoyed it. Maybe a new MLB fan? You asked about away teams - Anyone is free to go to any game, there are no limits. The stadiums are not close, though, which is what I'm guessing you're more used to. More teams in a smaller area. You may have one team on the east coast playing a team from the west coast, and because of the distance and travel cost the vast majority (95% plus) of the fans will be of the home team. That is why when the home team wins, which is the case in most of these reaction videos, the whole place is going bat shit crazy, they're all fans of the home team, and the home team just won.
“That’s huge!” Coots Field (Colorado’s Stadium) is bigger than most ball parks. It’s not as tall but it is much wider and longer, a lot of hits that would usually be home runs can be caught in Colorado
Watch: MLB hardest outfield throws, Best plays, or Emotional Moments(very sad), Fastest Players... Please make more MLB videos you can't get any more American than baseball mate.. nice channel bro.
I like watching baseball almost as much as hockey, however I will admit they are on two completely opposite ends of the "excitement" scale. Most of the time during a game, not much is actually happening that is exciting. After all it's impossible for the defense to score. Most of these clips are from the postseason and it is teams coming back to tie or get the lead or something. Also, they play 162 games per regular season, that's not including the postseason. That alone should tell you that there isn't much strenuous or high intensity action going on a lot of the time. However, that is not to say baseball isn't as enjoyable, but I will admit that I can understand why people don't like it. I happen to like it though. A couple of suggestions for MLB. Good post. I've found that a prefer watching football on television to being at the game, but the opposite is true for baseball. I've never lived anywhere close to a place with a hockey team, so I never really got into it.
baseball is definitely far more enjoyable watching live at the stadium rather than on TV. if the game happens to be boring, then the ppl watching at the stadium is quite entertaining and revealing 😏
@@jamesallen5591 I agree. I have only been to one NFL game and I don't think I will go to another. I have been to more hockey games at a minor-league team, and I find them more enjoyable but I would still rather watch on tv. I love going to baseball games. It is so laid back and one of the last games I went to, (another local minor-league team) there was a group of fans nearby where I was sitting that was heckling an opposing player on the field. He was awesome, playing along with them, giving it right back too. I would say it really got started in the fourth inning, and kept going until the end. One time he came out saw the fans and started laughing and said something like "Alright what have you got for me this time, let's hear it." Something like that. It was a really fun and enjoyable few hours.
@@stonewall01 Minor league baseball is probably the best value in sports. I recently relocated, and haven't seen the local team yet. It's cheap, clean Entertainment. Hey man, Loved this video. Many Americans love multiple sports; but for those of us to whom baseball is our first love... there is no greater sport! Listening to this video did my heart good. If you would like to indulge yourself with more baseball, I would love to point you in some good directions... for example: the home run at 10:30 in this video- find the video that shows that entire 7th inning of the Bluejays vs. the Rangers game: where a pitcher gets into a jam at 100+ pitches because of fielding errors, the lead changes hands, the batting team works bases loaded, a pitching change happens, a controversial play at the plate, and an epic homerun to climax, with the pitching team taking offense at the show-off bat flip (which leads to a fist fight the next season), etc. That one inning is a microcosm of what makes baseball Baseball. Let me know if you want more leads! Peace.
1:20 Stadium is full because its the Play-offs to see who gets to go to the World Series. Anytime the score on the screen says something like NLCS or ALCS (National or American League Championship Series) the winner goes on to the World Series.
Game 6 of the 1975 World Series is probably the best game in Series history and I'd say 2001 was the best series - obviously debatable but just my opinion
To answer all the questions I heard him discuss : A homerun is when the ball makes it over the outfield fence inside fair territory on the fly. Certain stadiums have rules of which part of the wall is considered a homerun or not. Fans do get hit with baseballs every game. Most are ok and suffer minor injuries. Some are not as fortunate, such as a little kid who was struck by a line drive in foul territory and had to be rushed to the ER. All stadiums have protective netting going from behind the plate to the dugouts, if not further. On average, a fastball is thrown between 90-100 miles per hour. Different pitches travel at different speeds, and curve/drop more than others. The ball’s exit velocity is determined by the force generated behind the hit and how well you square it up. If it barely catches the bat or breaks the bat it’s going to be a weak hit 99% of the time. If you square it up though, MLB players hardest hits come in around 120+ mph. The league average though is around 90 mph. And yes, pitchers get hit with comebackers and suffer season ending injuries. Batters do get hit and can suffer season ending injuries. It’s a dangerous, fun, and exhilarating sport that isn’t just a sport you can play with no talent. Learning how to hit a ball has yet to be perfected, and never will be. If you get a hit 3/10 times you will be one of the higher paid players in the game. I think the advanced stats are what are drawing people away from the game
El Papusador Weedle yea I’m not judging him. Since he doesn’t know anything about baseball, but it’s funny how he described a home run as going out of bounds because nobody in America says that😂
I think a super cool idea would be a live reaction to a baseball game. There's archived games on RUclips available to watch, and it would be cool to interact with you during it! The intricacies I see people point out in the comments might stand out too. Love your content man!
There were three games in London in July I’m pretty sure, and it even happened in a futbol stadium. I don’t know if it every is going back there, but if it does you could totally get tickets
The play at 7:23 was huge because it was the final game of the ALCS, and it put Kansas City in the lead for the rest of the game, which led to them winning it and and they advanced to the World Series for the first time in either 29 or 30 years (I can’t remember) so as you can imagine, it was kind of a big deal...
Since most of these are Playoff games, best to explain playoff structure. There are two leagues, American and National. The five teams with the best record in each league make the playoffs. From there. 1) The Wild Card Game. . It’s a Winner Take All Game, if you win, you advance, if you lose, you’re out. It’s played between the 5th seed and 4th seed teams in each league. (A seed is basically how we say what team had the best record before the playoffs. A 4-seed team has the 4th best record in their league) The winner moves on in the Playoffs, the loser is eliminated. 2) League Divisional Series. Division Series is a best-of-5 series, (first team to win three games) The winner of the Wild Card Game (5th seed or 4th seed) plays the number 1 seed, (best team in their league) While the teams that are 2 seed and 3 seed play each other. Once a team wins three games, the series is over. 3) League Championship Series After the League Divisional Series, the two teams remaining in that league play against each other in a best-of-7 series, (first to win four games) The winner of this series goes on to the World Series, where they face the representative of the other league. 4) World Series The biggest series in Baseball. Played between the representatives from the American and National Leagues, also a best-of-7 series. The winners become champions of baseball. Playoff Structure: Wild Card: (1 Game Playoff) American League 5 vs. American League 4 National League 5 vs. National League 4 Division Series (Best of 3) Winner of AL 5 vs 4 American League 1. American League 3 vs. American League 2. Winner of NL 5 v 4 vs. National League 1 National League 3 vs National League 2. League Championship Series (Best of 7) AL Winner of Wild Card vs 1. AL Winner of 3 vs 2. NL Winner of Wildcard vs 1. NL Winner of 3 vs. 2 5) World Series (Best-Of-7) Winner of NL Championship Versus. Winner of AL Championship

Finally I’ve been waiting for you to make this video. I’ll explain some of your questions:
1)The home and away fans: the crowd is mixed, there is no specific spot for home or away fans, they share the stadium.
5) Reaction suggestions:
-Nastiest pitches in baseball (some pitchers throw the ball 100+ miles per hour, with a foot of vertical or horizontal movement!)
-Longest home runs in MLB history (some have been farther than 500 feet)
-Craziest plays in MLB history
-most emotional moments in MLB history

Part of the experience of attending a baseball game is hoping to get a “souvenir” by catching a ball that was hit into the spectator area.
In football/basketball/hockey, I would say fans stand more often, but there's really no teams or sports where fans are standing the whole time, or even the majority of the time.
bro they had red sox vs yankees in london in 2019, next year they gonna do it again

“That’s huge!”
Coots Field (Colorado’s Stadium) is bigger than most ball parks. It’s not as tall but it is much wider and longer, a lot of hits that would usually be home runs can be caught in Colorado

Why is this so entertaining
Because baseball means nothing to so many people in the world. As opposed from us, who could care less for soccer.
To answer all the questions I heard him discuss :
A homerun is when the ball makes it over the outfield fence inside fair territory on the fly.

MLBs regular season the stadiums are not that full- that first clip was a playoff game. If you make the playoffs its a big deal and will be a sellout.
You should do “home plate collisions”
I love how he’s realizing how crazy we get over sports lol
5:05 I was at that game with my season tickets that was when they won the World Series to put things in perspective Fenway park holds 36000 people
Since most of these are Playoff games, best to explain playoff structure.
A 4-seed team has the 4th best record in their league)
The winner moves on in the Playoffs, the loser is eliminated.
3) League Championship Series
After the League Divisional Series, the two teams remaining in that league play against each other in a best-of-7 series, (first to win four games)
The winner of this series goes on to the World Series, where they face the representative of the other league.
4) World Series
The biggest series in Baseball. Played between the representatives from the American and National Leagues, also a best-of-7 series. The winners become champions of baseball.
