A LOT of these home runs were hit between the hours of 11pm and 1am. They were at the end of long, very important games. Games that could have been 3-4 hours long, sometimes even longer. Sometimes they were the difference between your season being over, and continuing to play for a championship. Hours and hours of stress and anxiety, then, 'BOOM'. In an instant you go from being on the brink of a nervous breakdown, to being on top of the world. As a lifelong baseball fan I have had, MANY of these moments, it's an unexplainable feeling really

In my opinion that is the most exciting thing because anyone on the field can make a crazy play that can save their team at any given moment. The first clip was the 2013 wild card game between the Pittsburgh pirates and the Cincinnati reds. This was the first playoff game the pirates had played in 21 years and I was fortunate enough to go. The crowd was chanting “Cueto” to rattle pitcher Johnny Cueto and it worked. We went on to win the game but lose in the next round of the playoffs. We haven’t won a playoff game since and haven’t made the playoffs since 2015. Hopefully that changes soon.

The majority of these clips are from postseason baseball, which are the rounds up to and including the world series. The electricity of October baseball is a very different beast than a run of the mill game in May generally. Both the laid back relaxed vibe, and the maximum live and die by each pitch are both true aspects of baseball depending on the game and time of year. Division, historic and crosstown rivals can have similar intensity every time out (Red Sox vs Yankees, Dodgers vs Giants, Yankees vs Mets, Cubs vs White Sox etc)
When baseball is intense though, nothing beats it.

I wish you had some context for some of these games! It would help you to appreciate these moments a lot more when you get a bit of the backstory to add to the drama. There's player rivalries that the fans go crazy for, the dueling franchises in the same divisions that are always entertaining games to watch, there's improbable come-backs and wild finishes, games that went into extra innings (a regular game has 9), and the personal stories of glory for veteran stars and rookies alike. Been going to Blue Jays games in Toronto for years, and in my experience, no game was wilder or louder than Game 5 of the American League Division Series in 2015 between Toronto and their hated season rival, the Texas Rangers. That whole series was entertaining, but in this final playoff matchup, winner moves on, loser goes home, and Toronto had to even the series on the road to even force a fifth game. Game 5 would be played on Toronto's home field, and for 6 innings it was pretty tense, with Texas leading by 1 run. That seventh inning, something strange kept happening and the Rangers really good defense started making critical mistakes on routine plays. It loaded the bases for the Blue Jays and that's when Jose Bautista steps up to the plate and just CRUSHES the ball into the upper deck for a 3 run homer ( @09:56 ). The fans were screaming and shaking the stadium, and it took them 20 minutes to calm them down enough in order to resume the game. Literally blew the roof off the stadium. That euphoria you get when you rewatch those sorts of plays as a fan will take your breath away.

Definitely should do videos on the rules of baseball, as well as the different pitch types for Millie’s sake. That way it’s a little easier to understand the nuance of the game and gain a greater appreciation.

10:52 people keep thinking Joe Buck messed up that call but I don't think he actually did. The ball hit the wall dramatically and looked like it was going to be a grand slam. Plus he's talking over a loud Cardnial's crowd.

Seeing the clips of things going WELL for my Detroit Tigers almost makes up for the 90's when we sucked miserably. Almost. We're still a mediocre team, but nowhere near as bad as we were back then. It was baaaaaaaaaaaaad 😆

Earler in the video at the first time they showed fireworks going off , go back and look again .. Not only were fireworks going off, they were going off INSIDE . That is a domed stadium , meaning it has a closed roof on it .. Unlike the others where fireworks were going off in the night sky from open air stadiums .

I would say a lot of American kids dreamed up the perfect scenario where it's the bottom of the 9th, bases loaded, your team is down by 3, full count (3 balls & 2 strikes) and 2 outs. You then hit a gram slam and win the game. This video basically gave different versions of that for a lot of homeruns.
Just something to add. Yes the ball is hard but you do see a good number of people going to the game bringing their own baseball glove hoping to catch a ball.

❤❤❤ Just So Y'all Know Baseball Is Nothing Like Your Cricket, Except For They Both Have A Ball. The guys here have to throw the ball at a minimum of around 90 miles an hour to be on a major league team!! But, most throw around 95. Also a lot of the games you're watching are World Series Games, which is the end of the season and make them the best of the best!! ❤❤❤

During reg. season, the avg is 30k per game, but playoff games tend to be sold out, so those range from (roughly) 56,782-10,000 depending upon the stadium size of the teams' stadium who has home field advantage etc..

Most of these games are "playoffs", including "World Series" games. Most games are played in stadiums that hold 35,000 to 55,000 fans for playoff games, but crowds are often much smaller during the regular season unless someone is chasing a record. For instance, the official record for homeruns in a season is 73 and it took several games for the previous record to be broken.
Do that rules of baseball video for Millie, please.
I found it funny when at 2:23 Joe Carter hit his game winning homerun and the crowd erupts and James says, "That's just America, isn't it", but the game was played in Toronto. lol

There's 26 players on an MLB roster, usually split between 13 hitters and 13 pitchers. The way lineups work, that means there's 9 batters and 4 players on the bench who can sub in; for the pitchers there's five "starters", who start every fifth game and pitch the majority of innings, while any combo of the 8 "relievers" fill in for the rest of the innings that the starter couldn't get - the best of which is usually designated to pitch at the end of close games, and is known as the "closer".
